Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

- Like we see with stadiums, it appears that the official name is now KeyBank State Theatre, so should that be the article title? That name also redirects to the current page, so it would be a similar page swap request. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:05, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Rani Kamalapati (Habibganj)–Rewa Vande Bharat Express → Rani Kamalapati–Rewa Vande Bharat Express (move · ) – name correction 103.185.174.130 (talk) 10:43, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

- Seoul Guarantee Insurance Company (currently a redirect to Seoul Guarantee Insurance) → Seoul Guarantee Insurance (move · ) – Per WP:NCCORP, legal status suffix should not be included Ally2580 (talk) 15:08, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Comment - I attempted to complete this request but with multiple redirects among KDIC and Seoul Guarantee Insurance, something went wrong and it may have to be reverted. If anyone wants to clean up my possible mistake you're welcome to it, or we may need someone with specialized skills. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 19:27, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Template:Boston, Massachusetts → Template:Boston (currently a redirect back to Template:Boston, Massachusetts) (move · ) – Main navbox for the city. No need for the state to be in the name. Boston is pretty identifiable on its own. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 00:35, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Jenna Winebrenner → Jenna Walker (currently a redirect back to Jenna Winebrenner) (move · ) – going by married name (https://www.dallastrinityfc.com/roster/jenna-winebrenner/); tried to replace existing redirect as page mover but for some reason stopped Hameltion (talk | contribs) 02:58, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Can you please provide multiple reliable secondary sources, such as news coverage showing her new married name is her commonname -- see WP:NAMECHANGE, all secondary sources i found still use Winebrenner. TiggerJay (talk) 04:56, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
- Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj → Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad (currently a redirect back to Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Prayagraj) (move · ) – At offical website ( https://www.mnnit.ac.in/ ) and everywhere elese it still has "Allahabad" in name, which is not replased by Prayagraj but Prayagraj is added after Allahabad as city name. It has a sister university/institute National Institute of Technology Calicut which also has old name of city in the name like it. 175.184.252.190 (talk) 19:24, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Brooklyn (village), Wisconsin → Brooklyn, Wisconsin (move · ) – It's pretty standard to have the village be named without parenthesis Cyber the tiger🐯 (talk) 01:41, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- And do what with the dab page currently there? Declaring the village the primary topic would require a full discussion. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:43, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Racewalking → Race Walking (currently a redirect back to Racewalking) (move · ) – Race Walking has a space per World Athletics, the international governing body. https://worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-race-walking-tour Pawnyy (talk) 01:38, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- This is not obviously uncontroversial and clearly violates MOS:LOWERCASE. The provided rationale has no relevance to Wikipedia policies and guidelines. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:44, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yenisey → Yenisei (currently a redirect back to Yenisey) (move · ) – Undiscussed sudden move followed by a simple search-and-replace throughout the article, always a warning sign. "Yenisei" is not a romanisation, it's the traditional spelling of the river in English; note that the category is still spelled with I. Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:33, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
Not done. That move was done more than four years ago, which by WP:TITLECHANGES easily makes it the stable title. Best to open a discussion rather than to revert it after all this time. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 23:00, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- Wikipedia community → Wikipedians (currently a redirect back to Wikipedia community) (move · ) – better name Astropulse (talk) 06:55, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Astropulse (talk) 06:55, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- The current title indicates that the article covers larger phenomena than just the vague mass of people called Wikipedians. Also, "better name" according to whom? ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:37, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- This deserves a full discussion. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:41, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- I second that a full move discussion ought to be had for this one. We would need sources to determine where the short hand term is a better WP:COMMONNAME. Trailblazer101 (talk) 05:02, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Garhwal Kingdom → Kingdom of Garhwal (currently a redirect back to Garhwal Kingdom) (move · ) – More appropriate when talking about kingdoms in the past. S.S Rautela (talk) 16:52, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- I don't follow that logic at all... "Garhwal Kingdom" and "Kingdom of Garhwal" both seem to mean the same thing, with the former slightly more concise and ngrams not hugely conclusive.[1] I think I'd like to see a more concrete reason for this move if it's to be deemed uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 10:05, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

- Mark to model → Mark-to-model (currently a redirect back to Mark to model) (move · ) – standardize with Mark-to-market Tule-hog (talk) 22:50, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- The comparison is named Mark-to-market accounting so the hyphenation makes sense. Mark to model by itself would likely not need hyphenation. –CWenger (^ • @) 02:32, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- Note it is hyphenated throughout the article regardless of an appended 'accounting'. Tule-hog (talk) 07:13, 13 February 2025 (UTC)

- Feldenkrais Method → Feldenkrais method (currently a redirect back to Feldenkrais Method) (move · ) – per MOSCAPS Primergrey (talk) 06:58, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Primergrey: You haven't provided any reason to believe that this phrase isn't "consistently capitalized in a substantial majority of independent, reliable sources" (MOS:CAPS). A Google Ngrams search suggests that it likely is. This move is potentially controversial, so it would require a requested-move discussion. If you decide to open one, I would urge you to explain why you believe the standard of MOS:CAPS is not met. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). - From the MOSCAPS page, phrases like "Hermitian matrix or Lorentz transformation, Down syndrome" are not capped. Every move is potentially controversial, so unless you yourself have a problem with it...Primergrey (talk) 09:50, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not so sure that MOS:SCIMATH applies to alternative medicine. And as noted here at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Controversial, the discussion process is used for potentially controversial moves. SilverLocust 💬 11:16, 14 February 2025 (UTC)
- The paragraph of MOS:CAPS just above MOS:SCIMATH is MOS:FIELD, which explicitly applies to methods. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:21, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

- Gaye holud → Gaye Holud (currently a redirect back to Gaye holud) (move · ) – Grammatical error Ahammed Saad (talk) 20:37, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- Not clear what you mean by "grammatical error", the rest of the article seems to use the term in lowercase. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 22:56, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Ahammed Saad Please give a clarification to the above. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 07:48, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Gaye Holud is Bengali term for the ceremony is a proper noun. So it should be capitalised I guess. I will fix the word after being moved. Ahammed Saad (talk) 13:10, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sheikh Hasina Medical University Khulna → Khulna Medical University (currently a redirect back to Sheikh Hasina Medical University Khulna) (move · ) – Change to Khulna Medical University, as it is the common name and match with the district and division name[2], and Sheikh Hasina Medical University is also mentioned in the article. 2400:C600:4716:BD5A:1:0:6B8E:7FA6 (talk) 16:14, 14 February 2025 (UTC)

- @Hemant Dabral Agree that the corrent title is incorrect. However, this article has been moved back and forth between 2018 Assam local elections and 2018 Assam panchayat election several times. An RM should be held to determine which of these two titles is correct. Bensci54 (talk) 18:03, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- Santa Lucia Luntana → Santa Lucia luntana (currently a redirect back to Santa Lucia Luntana) (move · ) – adjectives are not capitalized in Italian or Neapolitan titles; see itwiki and napwiki ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 20:22, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

- 2024 Argentina protests → Protests against Javier Milei (currently a redirect back to 2024 Argentina protests) (move · ) – Initially, the page "Protests against Javier Milei" was just about the general strike against Decree 70/2023, and was better dealt with at a dedicated section (Decree 70/2023#Reactions). This page, however, is about protests in general against Milei, and should have that name. They are not grouped by the year but because they were all against Milei (other protests in Argentina in 2024, such as those against the Gaza War or the electoral fraud in Venezuela, are not included), and protests against Milei in 2025 onwards should be included as well. - Oppose. Per WP:NCE, events should generally be named according to the <when> <where> <what> format, which the article's title currently adheres to. — Amakuru (talk) 21:37, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse → Rocket Arena (move · ) – name change, also changed the 2020 video game page title HalfOfAnOrange (talk) 15:08, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

- Since this was previously moved, and has been stable at this name for more than a year, this should require a full RM discussion and would not qualify as uncontroversial or uncontested. TiggerJay (talk) 05:00, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Value theory → Value (interdisciplinary) (currently a redirect back to Value theory) (move · ) – Better dedscription ModernDaySlavery (talk) 03:21, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose: "Interdisciplinary" may not be as common of a search term for some readers, and WP:NATURAL disambiguation tends to be more preferred when possible. "Value theory" covers what the subject is in concept: a theory, not solely an "interdisciplinary", which would be an incomplete disambiguation. Trailblazer101 (talk) 04:59, 19 February 2025 (UTC)
