Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Fortis Medical Legal", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥(ContainThisEmber?) 15:22, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Monfire, the account username should be changed. I requested to change it. It is a personal account but I used a corporate email. Many thanks for understanding. Peter. Fortis Medical Legal (talk) 23:26, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

February 2025

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, team, club, organization, company, product, department, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
    • You are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually. Examples include: "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, department, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Also hi Voortis, Fortis isn't compensated. If you read my initial statement, on the page I explained that we're doing lgbt outreach in Toronto and Ontario to help underrepresented individuals Fortis Medical Legal (talk) 23:08, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you're referring to this comment, Wikipedia is not a place to engage in advocacy on behalf of individuals or social groups, nor is it a place to promote your business' philanthropic efforts. Additionally, even if you are not being compensated, your writing at Draft:Alexander Paul Burton is very promotional. Wikipedia articles must be written in an impartial tone. voorts (talk/contributions) 23:17, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
im a private individual writing articles, I don't need a reason to write an article. I was adding it to help add context. It's not promotional and I'm not being paid. Fortis Medical Legal (talk) 23:21, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
i appreciate you're a volunteer and expert. In this case, please show me the parts which are promotional sounding and I'll be happy to edit them out. I added sources. Many thanks. Peter Fortis Medical Legal (talk) 23:22, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All of these are statements of opinion, peacock prose, or not encyclopedic in tone. Wikipedia must be written according to a neutral point of view.
  • "a deeply emotional and unconventional approach"
  • "He fuses classical harmonies with modern electronic textures, creating immersive soundscapes where technique meets emotion."
  • "crafting his musical identity"
  • "deeply influenced"
  • "He is an active volunteer and philanthropist. He has donated to the Distress Centres of Greater Toronto and the Centre for Grief and Healing in Mississauga. He has also volunteered at the Allan Gardens Food Bank and participated in community initiatives at Little Trinity Church. In addition, he recently donated $1000 to help purchase pet food for marginalized clients at a local food bank."

@PeterLawriwBahan: Do you have a personal or professional relationship with Burton? If so, you are allowed to write about him (although you are discouraged from doing so), as noted in Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline. Basically, if you want to write about friends, business partners, clients, etc., you must publicly declare that on Wikipedia and you must agree to proceed carefully; I appreciate that you've already taken my advice about article tone. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 02:58, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for your message and the helpful reminder about Wikipedia’s conflict of interest guidelines. I can confirm that I am known to Alexander Paul Burton within the community. As someone who works in law, I fully understand the responsibility of contributing to living biographies and the strictness of those guidelines. I’m happy to take full responsibility for anything shared and will proceed carefully to ensure accuracy and transparency. How can I go about declaring it? Thanks again for your advice! For future articles I create I am sure it will be much more smooth as I am understanding more aspects of editing. I appreciate your patience. I have added a tag to the draft's talk page. You may also choose to declare it on your userpage using Template:User COI. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:30, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Live

I've put your article live, since it seems you had dealt with all the issues raised. I've made some minor changes and fixes, you can see them in the page history if you are interested. There are three issues outstanding:

  1. Generally refs are after punctuation, not before. I've fixed a bunch of these. No one is going to be bothered much if you leave them, but it would be nice if they all were.
  2. Article categorization needs addressing. I've added three categories, but they need to be refined, and other appropriate categories added if needed. Wikipedia:Categorizing articles about people is useful.
  3. You may notice not all your listed singles are showing. This is an undocumented limitation of the template, which I will try to fix fairly soon.

All the best: Rich Farmbrough 21:18, 23 February 2025 (UTC).[reply]

I will do some more research and get even better for my next contributions. I really appreciate your time responding and helping with my first article PeterLawriwBahan (talk) 03:05, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Peter, I fixed the links for Lexxicon by replacing the little stars with brackets. You should use brackets instead of little stars to link items, because the brackets will actually redirect the user to an article. I am in no way criticizing you at all, but am giving you advice. Thank you!! I appreciate that so much. I am quite new to doing this, I really appreciate your time.
Thanks and have a fab day!

Your recent editing history at Alexander Paul Burton shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, PeterLawriwBahan. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Alexander Paul Burton, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. AI generated garbage. Theroadislong (talk) 08:17, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,
Totally understand.
This is not the case and it was cleared up. I totally understand you and appreciate your time as a volunteer and very valued moderator/contributor. Honestly I see the work you put in!
With regards to AI, wikipedia doesn't say it's not allowed. It is allowed, I used it to help do my research. But I rewrote content and the rest. It is not "garbage" as you described - I write medical legal writing as part of my job, therefore maybe my language sounds "drone =-like"! :-) PeterLawriwBahan (talk) 12:32, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sources are reliable, including Newsquest, which is a UK based newspaper company with millions of copies sold. He was mentioned in two newsquest articles in the citations. In addition, multiple other publications.
Can you please provide proof that Newsquest is not a reliable source, being a huge print media company in the UK? PeterLawriwBahan (talk) 12:34, 1 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.
If you believe that there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  331dot (talk) 17:31, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This edit is a legal threat, it also indicates you have a conflict of interest(as you would need to in order to make legal statements on behalf of the subject of your edits). Please see no legal threats. You cannot edit Wikipedia while you have legal threats outstanding or you have a legal action underway. While we cannot stop you from pursuing legal action, you cannot make legal threats on Wikipedia. You can pursue your grievances in the courts of your country according to its legal system, or on Wikipedia using Wikipedia processes, but not both simultaneously. You will need to withdraw any and all threats of legal action in order to be unblocked. You will also need to comply with WP:COI and/or WP:PAID and disclose your connection with Mr. Burton. 331dot (talk) 17:35, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It's also a very serious accusation to accuse other editors of a personal vendetta, or of unduly influencing editors/administrators here. If you have off-wiki evidence of this(especially the latter), you should contact WP:ARBCOM; if you have evidence of undisclosed paid editing, see WP:PAID] for how you can provide that. 331dot (talk) 17:41, 2 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

PeterLawriwBahan, you can not edit here when you threaten your fellow editors with legal action because they make edits you disagree with. You will not be unblocked until you unreservedly retract those threats. This is a collaborative editing platform and we don't settle disagreements by threatening each other and making unfounded accusations. And if you thought that legal threats would help persuade other editors to support keeping the article you created, well, that was a stategy that could only backfire. The article will be judged on its own merits. Liz Read! Talk! 01:39, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
