Heya. I didn't know the "6,666,666th article pool" existed, and was curious how you determined Bohong was it? cf. [3] [4] etc. Granted, there's no foolproof-technical-official way to determine it. I just went for it using the best method available: noticed it was coming, started a draft, woke up early the next morning to refresh the article count magic word until it hit 6,666,665, and hit publish (then refreshed the article count, saw 666, and refreshed it a few more times for good measure (it stayed 666, which indicated to me nobody else was even going for it)). YMMV. :) — Rhododendrites talk \\ 16:04, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- I see that maybe the 6,666,666th article as there were about 6,666,680 articles and I counted back around 14 pages in Special:NewPages to find the correct ones. Just a random Wikipedian(talk) 16:06, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
- That wouldn't account for deletions in the meantime. The best estimate of a particular article is to check the count at the time of creation (which still isn't perfect, since there is sometimes database lag -- I don't think there was any at the time, but I can't be sure). It's complicated when lots of people are creating articles at once, as with the major X-millionth milestones, but in this case it doesn't seem like anyone else was actually trying to get it. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 16:24, 5 July 2023 (UTC)
