Tool for citation metrics comparison

Hello. I think I have seen mention somewhere that you have developed a software tool that compares citation metrics of authors with those of their co-authors, so as to see how the author compares with their collaborators in the field. Is it open source? If it is, I'd love a pointer to its github or whatever. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:22, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SunloungerFrog, I used to use a script accessing the Scopus API, but it was buggy, required frequent Scopus logins, and only really worked if the author had fewer than ~150 coauthors (as that is inexplicably the cap on coauthor search page results). Often citations will also be split across multiple profiles for the same person, so I found myself double-checking everything anyway. It ended up being easier to just manually go through the Scopus citation metrics for some subset of coauthors (I use a cutoff based on paper counts) corresponding to those in more senior/professorial positions.
