Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sharh Muslim Nawawi 1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sharh Muslim Nawawi 1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MetroElvis.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:MetroElvis.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Islam: Beliefs and Institutions, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. request your input in a consensus survey re 9/11

Dear Striver,

At Talk:9/11#defining consensus I started a survey to get a better picture on how editor's opinions are varying with respect to the following statement:

"The current form of the 9/11 article is at odds with the WP:NPOV policy, and the proposed inclusion of the fact that Michael Meacher alleges the US government of willfully not preventing the attacks, would make the article better, in stead of worse.

I would appreciate it when you could take a look.  — Xiutwel ♫☺♥♪ (speech has the power to bind the absolute) 17:00, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hind bint Awf

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Hind bint Awf, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Hind bint Awf. Conspiracy

I just saw your little thing on Wesley Snipes I just wanted to make sure you understand that a conspiracy theorist and someone who discovers real conspiracy is not the same thing. If the crime is real then there is no theory, the people involved are investigating the conspiracy. A conspiracy is simply just a way to say criminal actions meant to be secret. Someone declaring that some celebrity is committing a crime is proposing the theory that they are, someone actually investigating if the celebrity is committing a crime is not theorizing anything. So the government doesn't act as a conspiracy theorist because they actually take action and look at proof, sometimes the proof shows conclusions to be incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 04:34, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of 180 AH

A tag has been placed on 180 AH requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Thisisborin9talk/contribs 05:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Al-Isaba fi tamyiz al-Sahaba.JPG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Fair use rationale for Image:Al-Isaba_fi_tamyiz_al-Sahaba.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Al-Isaba_fi_tamyiz_al-Sahaba.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 20:51, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AH dates pages

Recently I stumbled across Category:Years AH, Category:Decades AH, and Category:Centuries AH, which appear to have been mostly written by you. Because of the sparseness of these categories and the stubbiness of most of the pages therein, I was thinking it might be better to simply merge these all into a single, unified timeline for Islam that contained AH and Gregorian dates. What do you think? TallNapoleon (talk) 20:59, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many articles link to those individual articles, for example death and birth dates. In my opinion, they are valid stubs that fill a legitimate function. --85.225.210.254 (talk) 08:04, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We could have the links redirect to a united timeline. TallNapoleon (talk) 02:09, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see the AH timetable as no less valuable timescale as the western equivalent and reject the notion of reducing their scope, arguing that they should be expanded or at least keept as they are. It's not like wikipeidia is running out of pages. Further, even though this is the english wikipedia, it does not claim to be western centric. With this, i have said my thought, and you are free to do as you feel. I do not plan to become active in editing. --Striver - talk 10:40, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Abdul Basit Ahmad Uthman.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Abdul Basit Ahmad Uthman.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:40, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

July 2008

When adding links to material on an external site, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You Tube

As you are probably aware, You Tube has recently come under fire in respect of its use of copyrighted works, because of this a review of You Tube linking from enwiki is under way.

It is noted that you linked to a number of You Tube videos from your user page. Sadly the (C) status for some of those video is doubtful or unclear. In general linking to material whose (C) Status is ambiguous, unclear or unconfirmed is highly discouraged on Wikipedia as reflects badly on both the project and the contributor.

If you are not the copyright owner in respect of the videos linked (including any music, screen-shots or computer generated content), please consider reading both (WP:EL) as well as You Tube's Terms and conditions.

If you don't own the copyright to the footage in entirety you should NOT upload it on You Tube either.

If you are indeed the copyright owner in entirety for the linked videos, please confirm this (via OTRS or appropriate means) for each and every video linked, and mention this in respect of the link(s) concerned.

Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:18, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this, a homemade video, is not a copyright violation. --Striver - talk 20:51, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That was not the video in contention - but echo the sentiments... However, net neturality is a different although related issues from respecting copyrights. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:07, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Al-Zubayr

A tag has been placed on Al-Zubayr requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notability of Harald Motzki

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Harald Motzki, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Harald Motzki seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AOSmedallion1.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:AOSmedallion1.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:09, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
