Sayeef Salahuddin

Sayeef Salahuddin is an electrical engineer and academic, serving as the TSMC Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on electronic and spintronic devices, particularly in the area of low-power device physics.

Education and career

Salahuddin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2003.[1] He obtained a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Purdue University in 2007.[2] In 2008, he joined the University of California, Berkeley, as a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences.[3]

He is the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Electron Device Letters since 2022[4] and has previously served on its editorial board from 2013 to 2016. He also chaired the IEEE Electron Devices Society's Nanotechnology Committee from 2014 to 2016.

Research work

Salahuddin's research encompasses device physics for energy-efficient electronic systems, including negative capacitance transistors and spintronic devices.[5] He co-directs the Berkeley Device Modeling Center and the Berkeley Center for Negative Capacitance Transistors.[6]
