English: Artist Vida Lahey, ca. 1924
Vida Lahey was born at Pimpama in 1882 and died in Brisbane in 1968. She studied painting in Europe and later taught privately in Brisbane. She assisted with establishing the Queensland Art Fund where her activities included librarianship in the newly established art library. She taught children's art classes and later Saturday classes for children at the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) after 1941. Vida's Monday Morning (ca. 1912) one of the few paintings depicting the duties of women, was donated by Mme F. Cougeau to the QAG soon after it was painted. It still hangs there today. Vida was acclaimed for her role as visual artist, for her energy in promoting art for all and for considering the child artist. (Description supplied with photograph).
