RfC on the reliability of Bild

I've opened a discussion on the reliability of the German-language tabloid Bild. see Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard#RfC:_Bild. Please participate if interested thanks. Hemiauchenia (talk) 22:13, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I am writing Prisoners of war in World War II. Many sources cite a classic German work for the total number of POWs: "The figure of 35 million was put forward by Kurt W. Böhme [Wikidata], Zur Geschichteder deutschen Kriegsgefangenendes Zweiten Weltkrieges,15 vols. (Munich, 1962-74), 1, pt. 1:x"

Would anyone be able to translate relevant few paragraphs for me, or use the data from this book to improve the article I am writing? I am particularly interested in any breakdowns Bohme made with regards to nationality of those captured or their captors. What I (we) have in the article, when I add the numbers from other sources, seems to approach only about 2/3 of his figure (~22 mil), and I think at this point I covered most major combatants... (still missing the number of Italians captured by the Western Allies, but I doubt it will be a major game changer). Karl Boy-Ed

There are a number of English-language sources which claim that the German naval officer Karl Boy-Ed was of Turkish origin, and this claim has found its way into Boy-Ed's Wikipedia article. Can those with access to German sources verify or disprove this? Zacwill (talk) 16:40, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Zacwill: his mother Ida Boy-Ed is notable enough for an entry in the Neue Deutsche Biographie, the German national biography [1]. Her husband was a merchant from Lübeck, just like his father. I can only assume the "Turkish" claims are cases of mistaken identity. No word about "Turkish" in this bio of Ida by the city of Lübeck. —Kusma (talk) 23:19, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Broken image/caption on Faust article

The caption on the second image of the article is "abbr=on" which appears to be an error in the source, and it needs fixing. I don't know how image source works, much less how to fix it. HYTEN CREW (talk) 17:35, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It was an incomplete template, now fixed. Best, CMD (talk) 18:00, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are such a W. Do you think the current caption looks good? It doesn't look like any of the other captions. HYTEN CREW (talk) 18:11, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's a recent addition to the page, if you have a better idea for it be WP:bold and make a change. I see there is already one other image of a copy of the book. CMD (talk) 00:07, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Request for assistance on Draft:Laura Müller (motorsport)

Hi there - I am expanding an article about Laura Müller, the first female Formula One race engineer (Draft:Laura Müller (motorsport)), who is German. Regrettably, the English-language sources are fairly thin, but I did see that she was interviewed in FAZ; the article's behind a paywall. If someone could kindly take a look and see if there's any useful material to add to the article, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Namelessposter (talk) 02:59, 27 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
