Not mentioned at target. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:53, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- While I'm the creator, I'm not the "originator". I created it per a WP:AN request:
(Probably the issue was "Epic Fail", which I can imagine being common in attack pages, and very uncommon in good-faith use.) User:CMBJ hasn't edited in nearly a year, so you're not likely to get any further explanation from him. Nyttend (talk) 12:39, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Requesting redirect of epic fail guy and Epic Fail Guy to Guy Fawkes mask as per that article and Wikipedia:Requested articles/Arts and entertainment/Internet and tech culture. CMBJ 10:09, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
There are no incoming links to those; what usefulness would they have? In addition, can you clarify what has changed since the most recent consensus that lead to the deletion of the redirect? Salvidrim!· ✉ 10:17, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
It is not unreasonable, given the subject's popularity, to assume that users will manually seek out an article at that title. As for the above discussion, it pertained to an inappropriate redirect that lacked any supporting content, whereas this target explicitly mentions the subject. CMBJ 10:44, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
(EC) The request to remove the redirect from EFG -> 4chan was based on no mention in the article. EFG is mentioned at the guy fawkes mask article as part of its section on Anonymous usage of the mask, and its origins. The only redirect to 4chan kept in that discussion was one that was used in the 4chan article. No comment on how useful this is to have currently. Although Anonymous is a bit more noteworthy since 2009, I am surprised there is no mention at that article, as while EFG isnt notable in itself as a 4chan meme (there are loads of them) it is relevant to the Anonymous group. Only in death does duty end (talk) 10:46, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Created. Why couldn't you do it? Is there some blacklist that prevented you? Nyttend (talk) 22:06, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
I didn't happen to notice what exactly was precluding its creation, but without the admin flag it definitely wasn't happening. CMBJ 04:34, 23 May 2013 (UTC)- You're right about the issue: "Epic Fail" is on the title blacklist for pretty much the reason you suspected. I didn't notify you of this discussion since I could see that, and I didn't notify CMBJ either since it's my practice not to notify long-gone users. None of this is relevant now, though. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:13, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Probably Eclipse Foundation is a more precise target. 1234qwer1234qwer4 21:39, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Speedy yes, change it. Perhaps back in 2005 this could have required some discussion regarding whether the foundation or their flagship software suite was a more appropriate redirect, but today the website in question is clearly about the Eclipse Foundation, which administers hundreds of projects other than just Eclipse (software), so changing the redirect is clearly appropriate. Besides which, there are only two inbound links to this redirect, so the change is not a big deal. Also only one of those needs fixing for the change, and I've fixed it already. I appreciate that you took the time to put this up for discussion before changing the redirect, but I don't think it was strictly necessary. - How is this redirect different from a redirect from level or stage to level (video gaming)? MSMST1543 (talk) 06:31, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- It's not at all similar to that redirect (but WP:OTHERSTUFF would apply even if it were) - this redirect is unambiguous, mentioned at the target and is the name for the subject in a relevant local language. We have successfully kicked the can down the road with this one. Months later, no mention of this quotation from the movie. If it's as important as claimed, it would either A: have its own article, B: be covered SOMEwhere, or C: be a red link to encourage content creation wherever it makes sense to do so. As it stands, A and B are off the table (or at least not yet done), and with nothing on Wikipedia about this quote, this is still not a helpful redirect. Retarget to La La, where La la and the lowercase la la also target. This was supposedly the title of an unreleased Madonna song (but the title is incorrect, and the song is actually called "Pala Tute"). - Comment: Before everyone else piles on the delete bandwagon, I want to mention that there is indeed more to this redirect than it first appears. The redirect was initially created as a redirect to 9gag. According to some posts on 9gag (hardly a paragon of reliability), it is supposedly rumored that someone usernamed "I just farted" is also the owner of 9gag. He also happens to be a notable person, namely Ray Chan (businessman). That said, I can't confirm this factoid, so even if it were true, I'd be pretty happy with deletion. A quote not mentioned at the target article. It was suggested at a past RfD that this is a significant quote that people have wrote about externally. Great! It should remain as a red link to encourage article creation, or cited in the page if viable. In the meantime, for the last X years we have had zero content about this quote, so there doesn't need to be a redirect if we don't have anything further to say besides "it exists". People who make the conscious decision to type this instead of "Star Wars" are looking for something related to this, and we don't have it. Utopes (talk / cont) 03:55, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Weirdly, it is explained at Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones#Themes but seemingly nowhere in the current target. A mention should probably be added to the current target, but I am also fine with retargeting. (FYI there is also I have a bad feeling about this! which targets the main SW article). - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 01:16, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Retarget unless mention is added to target; keep if it is. - Half-holing → Fingering (music) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
No mention of "half" or "holing" at the target article. Through my own experience I'm fairly sure this is meant to indicate "putting your finger over half of a hole on a wind instrument", but the fact of the matter is that this technique doesn't come up at the target, so people who look this up will not be given the content they were seeking with this search term. Wanting to learn about fingering as a whole, they'd just search for the base article without having to use this particular terminology. Utopes (talk / cont) 01:52, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

No mention of this imprint at the target article, anyone specifying this would not receive any content about their search term. Utopes (talk / cont) 01:29, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Keep. There's no mention of the term at the target article, which is why {{R to article without mention}} was added to the redirect. There are several incoming mainspace links that would be broken if the redirect were deleted. That alone seems enough to make the redirect useful, which satisfies WP:RKEEP #5. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:41, 19 April 2024 (UTC) (See new comment below. 01:42, 21 April 2024 (UTC))
- There's 7 mainspace links sans the dab page, only in refs and infoboxes. Why couldn't these be replaced with piped links instead? Seven isn't several unless one is David Jelinsky, so it shouldn't be too bad to replace, and doesn't seem to be the end-all-be-all for keeping or deleting. For anyone that actually is searching for the imprint specifically, we have nothing for, so the existence of links can be avoided by linking to the main Random House article, allowing to prioritize useful redirects that are able to actually provide aid to readers. (There also might be a discrepancy with Oneworld Publications, but the link is unclear to me. Utopes (talk / cont) 02:14, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Using a piped link such as
[[Random House|One World]]
would provide no more information to the reader than linking via the redirect. {{R to article without mention}} is currently used on hundreds of pages besides this one. I just don't see the harm in such a redirect, and it's useful for linking. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 12:38, 20 April 2024 (UTC) - There's no need to prioritize any redirect, since redirects are cheap. The existence of this one doesn't prevent the creation of any other, or searching via different keywords. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:07, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- And not to be pedantic, but several actually means "more than two but not many". So you are effectively saying there are many incoming mainspace links, which bolsters the "keep" argument. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:12, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- I just added an entry under Penguin Random House#Random House Publishing Group, so I think the best course now is to retarget to that page and section. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:42, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

- with that in mind, i guess retargeting it to server would be technically a bit less wrong, but still not correct enough to avoid deletion cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 20:07, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
