Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level Request a specific edit to a protected page Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
- Elon Musk salute controversy (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Edit warring / content dispute. Multiple editors involved in edit warring. No great surprise given the content. TarnishedPathtalk 10:19, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- The article is already ECPed. Do we want to go to 1RR? Daniel Case (talk) 21:04, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- I see it recently EC move protected. I was going to indef EC as CT/AP. This is always going to be a contentious subject. Am I missing something obvious? BusterD (talk) 22:09, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that this is always going to be a contentious subject. TarnishedPathtalk 00:54, 27 February 2025 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: BLP Policy Violations. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neos • talk • edits) 23:01, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
Indefinite pending changes protection: Persistent block evasion. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talk • contribs) 23:33, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Nicole Brown Simpson (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: There has been a high level of vandalism and negative edits to this page from since the release of a Netflix documentary on the topic of the murder trial. Although I believe that there may be other pages that could use protection in this time, this is a murder victim's page and edits from IP addresses that do not have accounts on Wikipedia -- on either side -- provide risks to its stability at this highly-searched time. PickleG13 (talk) 23:35, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Ron Goldman (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Similar to my request for protection for Nicole Brown Simpson, Ron Goldman's page needs protection in light of persistent addition of conspiracy theories. Although this has not been enhanced by the recent production of a documentary series, checking for confirmation only showed me how many IP addresses have made edits going back years that vandalize the page. Since this is a murder victim, especially one who was killed in a case under current scrutiny, we should make sure this page stays safe. PickleG13 (talk) 00:36, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Christopher Columbus (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary full protection: Content Dispute/Edit Warring. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neos • talk • edits) 00:45, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Haverford High School (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Multiple SPAs adding non-notable/possibly fictious people to the alumni section. I sincerely doubt that "Padston Griffin, Everything under the sun" is a legitimate alumni. Padgriffin Griffin's Nest 01:49, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Powelliphanta patrickensis (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: It appears that VoidseekerNZ (talk · contribs) or an advocate therefor has returned. Based on precedent, this leads to edit warring over an image inclusion (detailed at here at enwp and at the Wikimedia Commons) until those accounts or IPs which are attempting to edit in contravention of community consensus are blocked. The pattern of disruptive editing is in the article history (and many associated pages here and at the Commons). — Fourthords | =Λ= | 02:07, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- Please note this is a years old copyright dispute where the author never intentionally uploaded this image to wikipedia and there are pre-existing non commercial licenses for the image which are correct. The license for this image wikipedia claims is invalid and disputed by the photographer. There is a group of editors determined to slander the author as a troll and vandal in aid of keeping this image on the website.
- I suggest that if wikipedia wasn't stealing rare photographs explicitly against the authors wishes there would be no edits in the first place. TrentBuchet (talk) 02:21, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- List of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba characters (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Persistent disruptive editing in the last weeks. Xexerss (talk) 03:15, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- National Women's Soccer League (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Full protection: persistent edit-warring. Left guide (talk) 03:54, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- You Make It Easy (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. TornadoLGS (talk) 03:56, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
- 1960 United States presidential election (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: High level of IP vandalism in which somebody keeps on changing the images in the infobox. This started on January 27 and has gone on for almost a month now. Jon698 (talk) 04:20, 27 February 2025 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
- Kendrick Lamar (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Kendricks personal life tab was recently edited. The last person to edit was Saloni Jain22 as of now (5 hours ago). The incorrect information is under his personal life tab. "In an October 2012 interview, he stated that he once tried marijuana, but the blunt was laced with PCP". The drug last started is incorrect and should be replaced with "angel dust" or more commonly known as, cocaine. The link that is attached is a YouTube video with kendrick literally stating verbatim. he has also referenced this is two songs on his GOOD Kid MAAD city album. Once at the end of "Peer Pressure" and again in m.a.a.d city he refers to it making him "foam at the mouth". You're welcome 2601:98D:C182:7000:6040:86B0:1916:8063 (talk) 22:04, 25 February 2025 (UTC)
