El Salvador–Manchukuo relations
Hey, I just realized we've been having a bit of an editing dispute about the lede on El Salvador–Manchukuo relations (I hadn't realized I had made the same edit to it back in November, nor that it was reverted), so I thought it best to discuss it.
I disagree that El Salvador–Manchukuo relations were the bilateral relations between the Republic of El Salvador and Manchukuo …
is necessary to frame the lede. There's no actual requirement that Wikipedia articles must recite the article title in bold, and the MOS suggests against it in certain situations. MOS:REDUNDANCY actually uses Iraq–Pakistan relations are the relations between Iraq and Pakistan.
as an example of what not to do. There's also a further community consensus against it at WiIkiProject International relations, which was reconfirmed just recently. I don't see any problem with just going right into the subject; plenty of other relations articles do.
Perhaps the way I've rewritten the lede to cut out that part of the sentence was not the best… I welcome any suggestions or edits in that regard. But the current way it's set-up is really not ideal.
(As an aside, good job with the article. I love finding pages on Wikipedia about very niche subjects that teach me things I never knew I wanted to know — never before had I wondered which other countries recognized Manchukuo, but now I know that El Salvador did!) — Kawnhr (talk) 00:48, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Kawnhr! Apologies for responding late, and many thanks for reaching out and thanks for the feedback. Look, I kind felt that since Manchukuo is a state that is not globally well-known today, it was better to keep an opening sentence framing the article content scope. But agreed that such wordings can be a bit awkward, and feel redundant. --Soman (talk) 11:36, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
2025 Feburary
@Soman Can you provide good citations for ideologies of CPI(M) like secularism, democratic socialism, Anti-neoliberalism? I provided some sources from its website and two news media, but an editor reverted it. XYZ 250706 (talk) 12:25, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi XYZ 250706. No, not really, I don't think that's good idea. Democratic socialism is essentially a euphemism for social democracy, which CPI(M) certainly isn't. Secularism and anti-neoliberalism aren't core ideologies of the party. Marxism-Leninism should suffice. --Soman (talk) 15:19, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Soman Democratic socialism is more left wing than social democracy (social democracy involves capitalism). Isn't socialism through democratic means democratic socialism? CPIM party website mentions socialism through democratic means. Secularism is definitely one of the important ideologies. XYZ 250706 (talk) 13:06, 12 February 2025 (UTC)

@Soman Can you please help to improve the article Prakash Karat? XYZ 250706 (talk) 12:49, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

What was the purpose of the creation of the above template? It seems to point to a nonexistent Module and I don't see any information on if it is going to be fixed/used. Thanks ~ Rusty meow ~ 16:51, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Rusty. I wanted to test the possibility of avoiding the problem that the 'full party name' template creates for parties like Communist Party of India (Marxist) for whom the parenthesis is part of the name proper. But the test didn't pan out, no problem to delete. --Soman (talk) 11:27, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

copyright concerns
I tried to ping you but it may not have worked. I'm concerned about a draft article you are working on and looking for feedback from other experts about copyright issues

- Diannaa has shared her thoughts. I concur with her advice. Would you be willing to remove the draft and work on it off-line until it's closer to ready? If you agree and do so, I can mark all the CopyPatrol notifications as resolved.. S Philbrick(Talk) 16:00, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- I decided to go ahead and mark all the notifications as resolved but let's discuss this further if you disagree with the proposed resolution. S Philbrick(Talk) 16:20, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
- hi Sphilbrick. I've removed most quotes by now, the remainder at this stage are fairly short and will be reworked into article text shortly. --Soman (talk) 19:23, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
