I would think there's a way to leave it as a "classical project" and rate the article. As you have it, it's in limbo. Engage01 (talk) 09:42, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what you mean. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:36, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Peat Bog Soldiers edit

I noticed you reverted my edit and cited manual of style for images. Respectfully, I was attempting to make the English and German lyrics align. I would go as far as to say the image isn't necessary, as both the notes and lyrics are visible much larger in the section labeled music. I want to tell you and let you speak before I go ahead and make these changes, as I am not attempting to start an edit war or anything of the sort. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 14:19, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for contacting me. Your edit at Peat Bog Soldiers a) contravened MOS:IMGSIZE; b) resulted in an overly small display of the image; c) did nothing for the alignment of lyrics. This reproduction of a 1933 song sheet is valuable in the article as a historical document, as demonstrated by its wide usage in Wikipedias in other languages and elsewhere. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 02:10, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. On my end, it appeared the lyrics had been fixed, so I left it at that (which I probably shouldn't've. Maybe it's better to put the two sets in a box, like I've seen for other songs like "Red Army is the Strongest"? -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 02:15, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There are 2 popular methods of displaying song lyrics and their translation side-by-side: a) using table columns, or b) the CSS style float:left. The former will not adapt to screen size, requiring horizontal scrolling on narrow devices and introducing unintended line breaks. The CSS method adapts to screen size, losing the side-by-side presentation on narrow screens. Rotating such a screen to landscape will normally fix that. I'm not aware of any Wikipedia guidance in this matter, but I'm aware of both methods, including in the templates {{Verse translation}} and {{Verse transliteration-translation}}. Until a consensus on the preferred method evolves (and I'm not pushing for one), I mostly use the CSS method. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 02:40, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thank you. I'll leave the article as is, sorry for the trouble. -Emily (PhoenixCaelestis) (talk) 12:11, 14 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

„This is supposed to be a brief list of highly significant composers...” (Recorder convertos); deletion of a composer

Hi Michael, REF: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Recorder_%28musical_instrument%29&oldid=prev&diff=1041928267 As much as I understand, and appreciate, the concern not to overload Wikipedia with entries and as much, or precisely because, I recognise the problem of value judgements, especially when it comes to contemporary literature and music, I would question the deletion of the composer Kalevi Aho. As the reason for the deletion of the link to the composer Aho, you state: “This is supposed to be a brief list of highly significant composers”. I believe – and I am not alone in my opinion (or even expertise) – that he is indeed a “highly significant composer”. With the exception of three works that appear on the list, I know all the works and believe that the composer Aho, and especially his recorder concerto, is at least not inferior to these composers and their works, and I could add an impressive list of internationally renowned soloists, conductors and critics who have commissioned works by this composer and have them in their repertoire. Here is just one link – one that even refers to the recorder concerto.

[Lynn René Bayley]: „Here is the latest installment in the Bis series of albums devoted to the music of Finnish composer Kalevi Aho. The label’s owner, Robert von Bahr, and I agree that Aho is a major composer. In my view, he is not only that but more, in fact the greatest living composer because…” https://artmusiclounge.wordpress.com/2023/08/28/ahos-latest-concerto-recordings/

You misunderstood the diff. It was User:Justlettersandnumbers who reverted your edits at Recorder (musical instrument) on 2 September 2021 and who gave the edit summary you quote. My name only appeared as the most recent editor whose version was restored. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:20, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
