Al-Afdal
Great start for an article. I hope you have time to work on it more and make it really great. It could greatly be improved by some sources, not only don't that make it more reliable it also makes it eailer for others to expand the article.
I agree, thanks for your contributions. I've only changed one thing - I think it would be better to use the name "Imad ad-Din al-Isfahani" if we ever have an article about him, since he is usually known by the full name. Also, if you'd like, you can join the Wikipedia:WikiProject Middle Ages/Crusades task force, which has just been created. Adam Bishop (talk) 01:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
An article can only be delete by Admin, you can request a speedy delete if it satisfy with the criteria in WP:SD. Is easy, just place related speedy templates in article you may ask for delete. --Aleenf108:05, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Deletion nominations
You've recently been doing a bunch of deletion nominations from new page patrol. I've noticed several for which a quick Google would have shown you that the topics are in fact valid. In those cases, tagging for deficiencies is preferable to AFD. Thanks, Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 10:19, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Recent Deletion Requests
Hi, Its great to see someone else actively trying to maintain Wikipedia - but some of the articles you're putting up for deletion look like they are legitimate attempts at articles even if they aren't very well written yet. Generally WP recommends you assume good faith on the part of the author, and try and suggest ways of fixing problems before trying deletion.
If you're not sure if a topic is legit or not its a good idea to look outside Wikipedia say on Google to see if there is much written about it - not everything is on here yet! -Hunting dog (talk) 10:21, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
I used Malcolm Lyons and D.E.P. Jackson's book "Saladin, the Politics of the Holy War", which uses Imad ad-Din as a source but doesn't say much about his life. I just took random interesting facts from there. Gabrieli has a little bit of info in Arab Historians of the Crusades. I also tried translating the Arabic article, although my Arabic is not very good, and I don't know what sources they used. I want to add more from the Encyclopedia of Islam, and hopefully the sources they cite, and the library has the French translation of al-Fath al-Qussi by Masse, which I want to look at as well. Adam Bishop (talk) 03:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, really? I think the EI is pretty neutral. In this case it is not a problem anyway, there is nothing controversial about Imad ad-Din! Adam Bishop (talk) 05:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and when you copy a bit of wikistyle code from someone elses page (the "leave a message..." bit) it's normally courteous to ask first. I'm fine with you using it (not like it took long to do or anything) but i do wish you'd asked since you messed up the code and it redirects to my page. I've corrected it, but in future drop me a line before stealing a line. Ironholds11:26, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem, although letting you copy it would have been you asking before you copied. RfA opposition is no barrier to civility, although i'm kind of annoyed that you used "power hungry", it gave me and probably other users the completely wrong impression. But I appreciate that's not neccessarily your fault, so we'll let it be. What's done is done. The past you can't change, but the future..? Ironholds11:37, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I used to deal with AfD's and MfD's a lot, yes. I've moved over to expanding and writing; creating good stuff rather than deleting crap stuff. Ironholds12:26, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
AfD
I've welcomed a bit in my time, and I used to spend hours on new page patrol; I find it's a good way to get rid of non-notable stuff before it gets imbedded. I used to categorise articles and the number of crappy, unimportant bits that nobody had picked up yet used up a lot of time. Writing is good in that it expands wikipedia rather than cutting away the crappy bits. You need both, I guess. Ironholds12:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Jerusalem
Hi Hellboy2hell (great name! :D). It was protected because of an edit war, which is currently being thrashed out on the talk page (second thread from the bottom). I'm going to try unprotection, simply because it's a really high-profile article, but it'll be instantly reprotected if the edit war reoccurs. Best, PeterSymonds(talk)13:25, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
All contemporary sources give his name as jimmy, not james; it is not uncommon for peoples birth names to be a shortened form of the standard name. Ironholds09:19, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
I've removed this FAC; please see the instructions at WP:FAC.
Nominators must be sufficiently familiar with the subject matter and sources to deal with objections during the FAC process. Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article should consult regular editors of the article prior to nomination.
Well I fixed the problem of the missing nomination, so it's back up there now, but I don't think it's ready to be a featured article yet. It's not finished. Adam Bishop (talk) 03:58, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Which is why the instructions at WP:FAC say to consult regular editors first (so we can avoid premature nominations). Shall I remove it again? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 04:02, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I didn't mean to offend with the bold text. I was just trying to emphasize the word most :). Don't worry about it. Keep up the good editing! Malinaccier (talk)05:28, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Technology report Hear that? The wikis go silent twice a year From patrolling new edits to uploading photos or joining a campaign, you can count on the Wikimedia platform to be up and running — in your language, anywhere in the world. That is, except for a couple of minutes during the equinoctes.
Opinion Sennecaster's RfA debriefing User Sennecaster shares her thoughts on her recent RfA and the aspects that might have played a role in making it successful.
That's ok, thanks. Keep an eye on the Imad ad-Din article though - I found a lot more information about him, and I hope to update the article soon. Adam Bishop (talk) 07:29, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Barnstar
Thanks for the barnstar! I think this is a good example of wiki-collaboration and maturity; you opposed my RfA, I complained about you nicking my talk-page heading and yet we're still mature enough that we can put that behind us, collaborate as editors and, as this shows, respect each other enough to send over a barnstar :). Ironholds10:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Quick question; do you mind if, for userpage style and all, i change the barnstar from your personal type to the Special Barnstar, which "may be awarded to a user as a gesture of appreciation for a specific reason, when there is no other barnstar which would feel as appropriate"? And as a token of my appreciation; would you like me to redo your userpage and spruce it up? Ironholds15:35, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I didnt mean making a new design, I meant replacing the barnstar you gave me with one of the wikipedia standard ones; your design does not unfortunately fit on my barnstar page properly. If you tell me what sort of design you'd like I will, however, redo your userpage for you :). Ironholds15:06, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Request For Rollback
Hi. I've granted your request for rollback. Please make sure you review WP:RBK to ensure you understand when (and most importantly when not) it should be used. Feel free to ask me if you have any queries. Pedro : Chat 09:07, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey
Just in case you didnt get it/did but forgot to reply: 1) can I replace the barnstar you gave me with a wiki-standard one and 2)can you give me the details of how you'd like your page designed? Do so and i'll get right on it :). Ironholds01:14, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok, i'll base it on mine then. What colour background do you want, for example? And then do you want the awards/sandbox/created pages links and so on? Ironholds13:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem, and sure! if you send me any personal info or whatnot you want added in i'll stick that in. I'm working on it atm in my sandbox. Ironholds13:39, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Sure. If you write more in the boxes then the image won't look so out of place. If you want me to put designs on all the other pages (awards, created pages, so on) give me a shout. Ironholds21:51, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
RE:my page
No problemo! Going to use the design then? Ironholds
