Hi! I will be reviewing this article, expect the initial remarks soon! Vestrian24Bio 11:29, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
2nd opinion for: Is sourcing for the post-production section is enough..? Vestrian24Bio 10:38, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
All else good, passing for GA. Vestrian24Bio 11:28, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
Comments
@Yovt:
- EARWIG shows 21.9% - violations unlikely.
- According to link-dispenser,
- 6 refs need an archive link.
- 1 ref that could be down doesn't have an archive link.
- Are refs 55, 69 and 70 reliable..?
- Use the {{Ref.}} template for ref header in the accolades table.
Done
- Put the additional navboxes ({{Arkanoid}}, {{Centipede series}}, {{Donkey Kong}}, {{Galaxian}}, {{Max Headroom}}, {{Pac-Man series}} and {{Space Invaders}}) into {{navboxes}} instead.
Done
- Remove {{Authority control}}.

- Refs show up as Marginally reliable; removed one and will look into others. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 22:10, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
- 3 entire paragraphs in the "Post-production" section depend entirely on a single ref, should have more refs or be shortened. Vestrian24Bio 11:27, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

- Specify a language variant.
- Add details such as producers, production companies, distributor, running time, budget and box office to appropriate sections of the article as well.
Done
- Lead should be a summary of what's on the article, and if so there wouldn't be a need for citations in the lead except gross figures.
Done
- Following part of the lead doesn't have any accompanying parts in the article,
- Sandler and Herlihy reworked the concept to feature James as the U.S. President, a unique twist that led to Tim Dowling's involvement for further revisions in 2012. Columbus, drawn to the script's originality and its nostalgic nod to 1980s arcade culture, signed on to direct in 2013. Production began in 2014 with a $110 million budget, filming in Toronto, which was transformed to resemble New York and Washington, D.C. Visual effects were led by Digital Domain and Sony Pictures Imageworks, creating characters out of voxel-based pixels to emulate 1980s, 1990s and 2000s game graphics, with CRT-style imperfections.

- Instead of "2010 short film Pixels by Patrick Jean", say "2010 short film of the same name by Patrick Jean".
I wouldn't recommend per WP:OFTHESAMENAME.
- Is 'Timothy Dowling' and 'Tim Dowling', same person?
Done
- Second paragraph of the lead says "$110 million budget" and the third paragraph says "$88–129 million budget", stick to proper figures consistently.
Done
- Replace Toru Iwatani with proper accent, Tōru Iwatani.
Done
- Align Sandler, James and Monaghan's images to the left side. Also, using images taken around 2015 would be more preferable as they will be contemporary to the film.
Done
- Don't think any of the recently added navboxes are relevant to this article.

- Remove refs 1, 2, 3 from infobox.
Done
- Q*Bert should be Q*bert at all mentions.
Done
- Align Columbus image to the right side.
Done
- Link publishers on all references (if a wiki page exists).
- Instead of "The production completed visual effects by mid-2015", say "The visual effects were completed by mid-2015".
Done
- Instead of "It was nominated for the 36th Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture", say "It recieved five nominations at the 36th Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture".
Done
- "mothership" should have a space - "mother ship".
Done
- Could link to Pac-Man (franchise) directly in the "Cast" section.
Done
- Align the filming section images to the left side.
Done Also, use a combined footer text instead of separate captions. -
Done
- "On July 29, filming was taking place outside of Markham, Ontario" - rewrite this sentence clearly.
Done
- Instead of "9:30 PM up to 5:30 AM", just say over-night.
Done
- In the August 4 sequence, only use the actor's last names as it's not the first mention.
Done
- "On August 26, 2014" - no need for 2014 again in the paragraph.
Done
- The "Post-production" section should be shorten down to one paragraph.
I trimmed the paragraph with substantial sourcing of only 1 ref mentioned previously, can both paragraphs stay?
- Adding different sources might help. Vestrian24Bio 01:53, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- Just link Dolby in "Dolby Vision".
Done
- Include film's runtime in the "Release" section.
Done
- Align the Pixels float's image to the left side.

- Italics for the soundtrack hatnote.
Done
- Instead of "Ant-Man and Minions, all of which", say "Ant-Man and Minions, both of which".
Done
- No need to mention the theater count twice.
Done
- "the average audience rating is 4/10.
Done
- Isn't there a direct CinemaScore source?
not that I could find; present source is reliable
- Could link to Salon.com directly.
Done
- Mention the author for The Guardian review.
Done
- Add proper publisher to ref 76.
Done
- Why the word "Everything" is italicized in The Atlantic Monthly review.
Done
- In the awards table, the notes should be on the Recipient column.
Done
- Change Timothy Dowling to Tim Dowling throughout the article.
Done
- Format the last part as following,
== References == === Notes === {{notelist}} === Citations === {{reflist}} == External links ==

- Still, the Post-production section has issues, along with two other points from above.
@Yovt: that's all. Vestrian24Bio 06:32, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Vestrian24Bio, thank you for the review. I understand it's important to cite varying sources, but the second paragraph at post-production doesn't seem like an issue to me. Animation World Network is a reliable source per WP:FILM/R. Although I do contest the need for more sources here, I'll still trim the AWN info down if truly necessary. Again, thank you. 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 21:07, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Add alt texts to all images used on the page.
- Again, "Timothy Dowling" or "Tim Dowling"; also the linked Tim Dowling is a journalist for The Guardian.

2nd opinion
@Yovt: I'm going to ask for a second opinion on the sourcing for the post-production section. Vestrian24Bio 10:36, 13 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Vestrian24Bio: upon looking through it i have a few points:
- in source 31 the digital domain effects company employees refer to donkey kong as the most challenging to animate. overall it may have been q*bert, but in the body it reads: "The most complex characters to model were Q*bert, which interacted the most with humans and looked around despite being made out of voxels."--why the use of plural?
Has been made singular (comment by Yovt)
- the second paragraph's opening sentences seem to be a repeat of the information about voxelisation in the first paragraph. it feels like this information should be somewhat re-arranged, or that it's out of order (linking back to point one, the wiki talks about donkey kong in paragraph two, when it seems like this was information that was initially conceived simultaneously).
- is the information on post-production suitably broad? obviously in a vfx-heavy film, vfx are going to be the most prominent part, but is there not any information on other parts of the post-production that could be included? studio politics? editing? sound design?
Used to be less broad before requests to trim it down
- information in the article is all present in the sources. the sources seem to be reliable. the sources are referenced correctly.

- i hope that helps.--Plifal (talk) 00:34, 17 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Plifal: thanks for your input. Vestrian24Bio 11:28, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
