Summary
Description | Picture of the prototype T93 Howitzer Motor Carriage, based on an extended M26 Pershing chassis carrying an 8-in M1 Gun. Possibly taken circa 1945.
This image will be used in the wikiarticle T92 Howitzer Motor Carriage, to illustrate how the T93 variant of this vehicle looked like; and the differences between both. I believe that this is a "Public Domain" image, created by the US Government |

Unknown - assumed to be US Government. |
Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Original publication: Unknown - assumed circa 1945 due to when the prototype was built. Immediate source: http://www.wwiivehicles.com/usa/self-propelled-guns/t93-gun-motor-carriage.asp |
Date of publication | Unknown - possibly 1944 or 1945, as seems to be a technical picture of the T93 prototype. |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | T92 Howitzer Motor Carriage |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | Allow the reader to visualize this historic World War II self-propelled gun, in the article that describes the vehicle, and the related T92 self-propelled howitzer.
This image will remain until a "free" image that can be used and stored in "Commons" is obtained. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
If an alternative free illustration is created or found, it could replace this image.
Until then, a reader wouldn't be able to imagine how this vehicle looks like without at least one image. I don't have the skills to create a free illustration myself, based on this or a similar image. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | Is a low-resolution, low quality, small-sized image of a unique variant (T93 GMC) of the vehicle object of the article (T92 HMC).
This image is not intended (at this point) to be used in any other article. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
Being an official image of a US Army military vehicle from 1944/45 it's assumed to be in the Public Domain. This image (and similar others) has been used elsewhere, including the book by R.P. Hunnicutt "Pershing: A History of the Medium Tank T20 Series" ( ISBN 978-0982190708).
So no commercial use should be affected by the use in Wikipedia. |
Other information | I'm uploading this image in good faith and after extensive online search.
I've also placed a "photo requested" tag in the article to help locate a PD image, suitable for "Commons". |
