The leptosporangiate ferns and horsetails were brushes made by Julio the artist while the pine needles and stuff come from a pack by Eldar Zakirov. The leptosporangiate ferns are based on the many field ferns present in Appalachia at the time (https://pubs.usgs.gov/publication/70037291, https://pubs.usgs.gov/publication/pp84) The horsetails are based on finds noted by K. R. Johnson in 2003. The Pine tree is based on the following paper (https://pubs.usgs.gov/publication/pp84) The spruces are just there due to the fact they were present in North America according to the Dakota Mummy specimen and I just assumed they probably were widespread around North America by the Late Cretaceous. The redwood (Sequoia) is again based on this paper-https://pubs.usgs.gov/publication/pp84 |
