Borja Lacalle Álvarez (born 21 May 2001)[1] is a field hockey player from Spain.[2][3]
Personal life
Borja Lacalle was born and raised in Madrid, Spain.[4]
He is a former student of CUNEF Universidad.[4]
Field hockey
Domestic league
Lacalle currently plays in the Dutch national league, the Hoofdklasse. He is a member of the Oranje–Rood first team.[5][6]
He formerly competed for Club de Campo in the Liga Iberdrola and Euro Hockey Leagues.[7][8]
Under–21
Lacalle made his debut for the Spanish U–21 side in 2021. He made his first appearances during the FIH Junior World Cup in Bhubaneswar.[9] His final appearances for the national junior squad came in 2022, at the EuroHockey U–21 Championship in Ghent.[9]
Red Sticks
Following his successful junior debut, Lacalle made his senior international debut for the Red Sticks during the third season of the FIH Pro League.[9] He earned his first cap during a match against Argentina in Valencia, which ended as a 1–0 defeat.[9]

- 2023 FIH World Cup – Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
- 2023 EuroHockey Championships – Mönchengladbach.
