Pro Futuro Theologiae - a foundation established in 2014 at the Faculty of Theology of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Its purpose is to support and organize promotion activities of the Faculty.

??Geneza i cele??

The Foundation was established on November 5, 2014 by three founders: Dr. Piotr Paweł Orłowski, Rev. Prof. Dariusz Kotecki and Rev. Prof. Piotr Paweł Roszak. The board of directors of the foundation consists of Rev. Dr. Tomasz Huzarek, Rev. Dr. Łukasz Skarżyski, Rev. Dr. Arkadiusz Drzycimski (as of July 2023)[1].

Pro Futuro Theologiae's tasks include[2]:

  • Supporting and organizing promotional activities of the Faculty of Theology at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun - their goal is to increase the number of students, as well as to build the Faculty's scientific position in Poland and the world,
  • Initiating scientific research in theology, philosophy, Church history and related disciplines,
  • Supporting research, organizational, informational, educational and publishing initiatives of academics, students and research clubs of the Faculty of Theology,
  • Promoting the best students of the Faculty of Theology,
  • Implementing scientific ventures and discoveries born in Torun's theological community,
  • Funding for scholarships and research grants,
  • Organizing and financing scientific conferences, courses, conferences and seminars.

Projects

Laboratory of Religious Freedom

The Religious Freedom Laboratory project serves to counter crime against freedom of conscience and religion and any discrimination based on religious affiliation. It pursues this goal through:

  • Monitoring cases of violations of freedom of conscience and religion in Poland,
  • Running an information and consultation center for people affected by discrimination based on their faith,
  • publishing educational resources, including articles and podcasts by experts in various fields and an interdisciplinary online Dictionary of Religious Freedom,
  • Organizing international scientific conferences  ,
  • Organizing of debates, trainings and workshops,
  • Organizing Freedom Picnics  and observing the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.

The Complete Works of St. Thomas Aquinas

The Complete Works of St. Thomas Aquinas is a project aimed at translating into Polish and publishing in print all of Aquinas' writings whose authenticity has been confirmed . It is carried out by the Thomistic Institute, the Pro Futuro Theologiae Foundation and the Polish Dominican Province's publishing house W drodze. The series will include 100 works collected in 70 volumes. Project under the patronage of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Mysterium fidei

The Mysterium fidei project is a platform of knowledge about the liturgy. Includes:

  • An scientific website that improves academic research on the liturgy and continues the work of Bishop Andrzej Suski, who cataloged manuscripts of sacramentaries, missals and other liturgical books,
  • retreats, workshops and liturgical trainings,

Other initiatives

  • Rev. Sawicki Award for the best master's thesis in theology and family sciences .
  • Rev. J. Bagrowicz Scholarship Fund for grant competitions in practical theology and catechetical studies.
  • Clavis Sapientiae publishing series carried out in cooperation with Bernardinum publishing house, covering popular science and scientific publications in the area of science-faith relations.
  • Publishing comic books: "The Story of the Mute Ox. Saint Thomas Aquinas" and "James. Son of Thunder. Biography of the Apostle James".
