Would anyone be willing to do peer reviews of articles that rely on Japanese sources to a significant extent?

I don't have all of the articles ready (current articles I'm planning to incorporate a significant number of Japanese sources include Gnosia and Setsu), but I'm not remotely able to understand the language, so I am concerned about whether I am able to properly summarize the contents of the articles, since English translation services can be pretty wonk. Is there anywhere I can go to ask for assistance with this? - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 00:51, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I can do a full on peer review (I'm relatively inexperienced as a wiki editor), but I can confirm if the sources really say what you think they're saying. Feel free to reach out. Erynamrod (talk) 12:39, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! :) - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 00:16, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah this would be appreciated lol. On articles like Yukio Edano, I basically transcribed it directly from Japanese so I'm not entirely sure if the sources line up River10000 (talk) 19:50, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A post on this article's talk page suggests this article stops at 1905 when the facts show a continuation until 1945. Perhaps some of the project's members can expand this article to improve its coverage. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 11:20, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bullet point biographies

Biographies of Japanese emperors, shoguns, etc on WP regularly consist of a set of dated bullet point lists with the date in bold (e.g. Emperor_Toba#Events_of_Toba's_life, Tokugawa_Ienari#Events_of_Ienari's_bakufu). This is weird; as far as I can see, no other biographies on WP do it. Often they repeat points that are made in the main text (e.g. Emperor_Horikawa#Events_of_Horikawa's_life has the exact same sentence reporting his death twice in succession, once with bullet, once without). Is there some project policy supporting this layout or is it something that can be safely removed? Furius (talk) 00:34, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose I'll try to give an answer. I can't speak about any project policy for this layout (I don't imagine one exists, someone please correct me if I'm wrong), but this format does seem common on the Japanese side of Wiki, so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened to bleed over into the English Wiki. The ones you mentioned don't seem to have that format in their JPN version, however, but it could've been there in a previous version that was translated (well, Ienari has a little one, but it doesn't line up with the English version...). These are clearly in a bad state. I agree that rewriting them as prose would be better. I tried cleaning up Emperor Horikawa to some extent, but certainly don't have a desire to go through all of the pages on these figures. Dekimasuよ! 04:36, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's really helpful. I agree that going through all of them would be a huge and horrific task, but I'll keep this in mind when I come across them. Furius (talk) 10:32, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kisaragi Station

The page Kisaragi Station's plot section is nearly a complete copy and paste from an external website, and may need changes. AlphaBetaGammsh (talk) 02:28, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have removed the revisions with copyright violations. If a new plot section is required, it will need to be made from scratch. Dekimasuよ! 07:54, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for redacting, now I'll get the plot summary in my words in a few days as I am inactive in weekends. AlphaBetaGammsh (talk) 10:04, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@DekimasuCould you, if you ever have the time, reassess the article?AlphaBetaGammsh (talk) 15:24, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kyushu and Shikoku

I believe that the Kyushu region and the main island of Kyushu differ in concept. Kyushu region includes the Ryukyu Islands as well as the surrounding Tsushima Island. The same applies to Shikoku. I believe that the two should be separated. Mamiamauwy (talk) 14:05, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lead section too short. If anyone could summaries points. Also requires additional sources. ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 16:27, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Copic

I deprodded Copic because I feel that the product is notable through sources such as this, and not enough of a WP:BEFORE was done. However, most of the sources are likely in Japanese due to the product being Japanese in origin. Would any editors fluent in Japanese be willing to do some further searching? Okinawa and Ryukyu

Hello! I recently started the article for Sobá, an adaption of Okinawa soba that Japanese immigrants from Okinawa brought to Brazil, and I created the red link Okinawan Brazilian as my Portuguese language sources specifically used this terminology. I'm not very familiar with Japan but would it be appropriate to redirect that link to the stub article we have about Ryukyuans in Brazil? Okinawa is in the Ryukyuan islands, but I'm not sure if there's any regional sentiment there that might discourage grouping everything together. BaduFerreira (talk) 14:56, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that would be appropriate. Although it is a bit anachronistic according to the timeline of modern Japan, if anything, the "regional sentiment" in Okinawa would be very happy with the use of Ryukyu in that context. Dekimasuよ! 15:33, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thank you for your insight Dekimasu! BaduFerreira (talk) 18:34, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
