Notability criteria
Articles must currently meet WP:GNG or WP:SPORTCRIT guidelines.
- For college athletes and coaches, see WP:NCOLLATH
- For younger athletes, see WP:YOUNGATH.
Per WP: SPORTCRIT, "sports figures are likely to meet Wikipedia's basic standards of inclusion if they have achieved success in a major international competition at the highest level." This includes national team championships. Adequate referencing is required. WP:GNG is your torchlight.
- Preventing and dealing with proposed article deletions
The key to ensuring that an article you create is not deleted is providing adequate referencing to meet WP:GNG.
- Make sure the article's talk page is tagged with relevant project tags such as {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}} and {{WP Women}} so that other editors can further improve the article or contribute to an Articles for deletion (AfD) discussion, if needed.
- If you have any questions or run into any issues, feel free to post them on the this project's talk page.
Leagues
For a list of active and former top-division leagues, see LEAGUES.
- Articles about players or managers in these leagues must meet WP:GNG.
- Articles about seasons must meet WP:GNG or WP:NSEASONS.
- Articles about referees, officials, staff or other notable figures must meet WP:GNG.
See the notability criteria section above for more information.
