Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Artists
Please add MUSIC-related discussions to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Music, not here.
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Artists (in the visual arts only). It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Artists|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Artists (in the visual arts only). For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

I do not think this artist meets WP:ARTIST yet, lacking secondary source coverage or WP:GNG Zenomonoz (talk) 00:57, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

- Comment - I'm not finding anything in a BEFORE search to substantiate the notability of this artist who is at the beginning of her career. I'm holding off on !voting for now to do a deeper search, but all I'm finding is non-independent mentions of her from connected sources, and also finding social media posts and user submitted content. I am finding quite a few hits about her sister Neri due to a high-profile plagiarism case, but that is no reflection on this artist. Leaning towards delete unless enough independent reliable sources can be found to meet WP:NARTIST. I just ran it thru Earwigs and it's 90% copyright violation, WP:COPYVIO which I will remove from the article. Netherzone (talk) 01:34, 16 April 2025 (UTC)

Not finding anything like enough in the article or elsewhere to pass WP:GNG or WP:NARTIST. Edwardx (talk) 17:55, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

- Keep - appears the article was published today. Perhaps it isn't ready for the main namespace, however, it appears the creator of the article is still WP:BUILDing it. This deletion request may be pre-mature as the article could been moved back into a draft. If the creator can't provide sufficient WP:N, then I'd switch my vote to delete. This article does not indicate how the individual is notable per WP:GNG, WP:BIO, or WP:NARTIST. I am also unable to find reliable third-party sources that discuss him significantly. ... discospinster talk 17:32, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

- Delete - The first source is a self-created directory listing. I cannot access either the fabelist or the academia cites. The my.canva.site link is user-generated material, apparently by the artist. I was not able to find anything else; possibly a very brief mention as a witness to a mass shooting in Mexico City? The article was created by a single-purpose account that has repeated tried to add a Wikipedia mirror as a source, along with a lot of unsourced material. Just not seeing anything that would address notability.Sam Kuru (talk) 23:14, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
- Delete for lack of significant coverage. Sounds interesting, but that's not a good reason to keep. Bearian (talk) 14:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

WP:BLP of an artist and unelected political candidate, not properly sourced as passing either WP:NARTIST or WP:NPOL.
Artists are not automatically notable enough for Wikipedia articles just because their work exists, and have to be shown to pass WP:GNG on third-party reliable source coverage and analysis about their work -- but the art stuff here is referenced to sources that are not support for notability, such as calendar listings on the self-published primary source websites of galleries where her work has been shown and/or blogs, rather than detailed or substantive coverage about her art.
And unelected candidates do not get articles just for being candidates -- the notability test for politicians is holding a notable political office, not just running for one, while unelected candidates normally get articles only if they already had preexisting notability for other reasons that would already have gotten them an article anyway (which, again, has not been established here). The existence of a small amount of campaign coverage, further, does not give an unelected candidate a GNG pass that would exempt them from NPOL in and of itself -- every candidate in every election everywhere can always show some evidence of campaign coverage, so if campaign coverage were enough to sideline NPOL all by itself then NPOL would be rendered meaningless and unenforceable, since no candidate in any election would ever fail to get exempted from it. And even some of the sourcing for the political stuff is still primary sourcing (e.g. press releases from organizations, raw vote results tables) that wouldn't be support for notability regardless.
So having the merely expected level of coverage in the context of an election campaign that she withdrew from and thus didn't win does not translate into permanent notability in and of itself, if she has no GNG-worthy coverage in any other context besides that. - Delete. I agree with the nomination (and appreciate the detail). I am going to also note Wikipedia:NOTINHERITED as there is a citation that mentions her father is Jacky Jasper. I also did a Google News search and only found two non-election articles. The first is a Toronto Star article recounting a microaggression. The second is an Elle Canada piece that mentions her by name in a passing reference to that incident. I do not believe the Toronto Star article allows Natasha Doyl Merrick to meet GNG. Via the Wikipedia Library, I found nothing in the Newspapers Archive or EBSCO Host. A Google search of "Natasha Doyle" site:www.theglobeandmail.com only reveals an article abou the 2025 withdraw.
