Assessment
When pages are created through Articles for creation they should be assessed according to the quality scale. This is achieved by passing a parameter to the {{WPAFC}} template which is placed on the talk page of articles (full instructions can be found on the template's documentation). Similarly, the talk pages of files uploaded through Files for upload should also be tagged with {{WPAFC}}. Articles are then placed in the appropriate subcategory of Category:AfC articles by quality. The number of articles we currently have of each class are:
FA | A | GA | B | C | Start | Stub | FL | List | Category | Disambig | Draft | File | Project | Redirect | Template | NA | ??? | Total |

WP 1.0 bot
The WP 1.0 bot visits AfC articles and compiles statistics about them:
- Version 1.0 Editorial Team/AFC articles by quality – for a full list of articles with their assessment
- Version 1.0 Editorial Team/AFC articles by quality statistics – for the number of articles in each class
- Version 1.0 Editorial Team/AFC articles by quality log – the twice-weekly log of any changes to the class of articles
Category:Unassessed AfC articles contains the articles with no quality rating. Please help by assessing the articles in this category.
Grading scheme
Note: Some WikiProjects omit standard classes, most often A-Class, especially when they lack an assessment team.
- ^ For example, this image of the Battle of Normandy is grainy, but very few pictures of that event exist. However, where quite a number of pictures exist, for instance, the moon landing, FPC attempts to select the best of the ones produced.
- ^ An image has more encyclopedic value (often abbreviated to "EV" or "enc" in discussions) if it contributes strongly to a single article, rather than contributing weakly to many. Adding an image to numerous articles to gain EV is counterproductive and may antagonize both FPC reviewers and article editors.
- ^ While effects such as black and white, sepia, oversaturation, and abnormal angles may be visually pleasing, they often detract from the accurate depiction of the subject.
