AresAndEnyo (talk · contribs) – I have been active on Wikipedia for many years and with the latest trend of self-important administrators strutting around like they own the place I feel it is time for me to try again to become administrator (edit: I probably did get a bit angry but what I meant is administrators who think they know everything there is to know and make arbitary judgements accordingly, no one knows everything about even specific subjects like wikipedia, I don't claim to know more than these people I talk of but unlike them I know that I don't know). No doubt many of you will be put down by my low edit count, and I admit it is low (though not as low as it might appear as alot of my album cover additions were deleted when I failed to notice the bot) but I propose that such a thing is to my credit. I would if successful pride myself on being an independant Administrator free of any anger exhibited by other administrators. It is my thinking that many administrators with large edit counts have had pet projects in the past disrupted by helpful users in the past and thus deal out protection freely. It is such thinking that I think has led to the over protecting that as per my village pump post is leading to the decline of wikipedia. In closing, I will expect many of you will judge me harshly based on my edit count but my long period of activity, good nature and thoughtful approach to wikipedia I feel should be able to outweigh such a nominal measure. Let me remind you that there is no edit count minimum required to become an administrator and let us not become a community that says such a thing only to impose it through the democratic process. I will be more than happy to answer any questions.AresAndEnyo (talk) 18:12, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I accept.
Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to start to move wikipedia back to its premise. I plan to do this by helping unprotect pages that are low targets for vandels. I also plan to help through thoughtful timely deletions and reminding users of wikipedia's policies.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My best contributions in my opinion has to be my occasional posts to the village pump. This is where I place my opinions on the operation of wikipedia and discuss with other users who wikipedia could become better. My favorite post is when I asseted to one misguided user that the point of protection is to protect against vandels and not misguided helpful wikipedia readers.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I don't know if I have caused any stress with users from my point of view. I have always help strong to my ideals with regard to wikipedia and with regard to seeing things from all angles. I guess this could sometimes insult the occassional user but that is just of a result of representing what I believe is right strongly. I think this is important for good discussion and make no apology. Not that I have anything against apologizing when I am wrong.

Oppose
- Oppose - Yes, firstly, due to your edit count. Secondly, due to lack of experience in the project namespace. Thirdly, because you are injecting unnecessary criticism in your nomination, and lastly, your answer to question 1 is strange. Wisdom89 (T / C) 18:31, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I am not going to defend my edit count cause that can't be defend it and I admit that. I also won't comment on the namespace experience. I don't think I was being unnecessary critical as I was trying to convey that I am becoming an admin not to become 'cool' but try to fix something that I think is broken. If I was blunt I apologize (I really do) and I did hint to this as a fault in my answers. I just want the society to be asured that I have views and think I can make a difference as an admin not just tow a company line and take a power trip. Again in my experience there are people like that out there and I don't think anyone could disagree.--AresAndEnyo (talk) 18:50, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong Oppose Per Wisdom89. Everything I was going to say except WP:NPA.--Giants27 TC 18:37, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think it is fair to say that I included a personal attack in my statements. I think on reassesment you will agree. Again I apologize if you thought I was being blunt but my comments were made as a general statement about how I perceive a large amount of the users and admins of wikipedia, often drawn from non-personal experiences.--AresAndEnyo (talk) 18:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- The first sentence can still be considered a personal attack on the admins.--Giants27 TC 19:03, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Strong oppose - Per statement. — neuro(talk) 18:45, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Per nom's statement. SimonKSK 18:50, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Prior to posting this nom you had just eight edits in six months. I am not one to be obsessed by editcounts but that's just too few to judge whether you can be trusted. The nature of your statement which suggests you propose a crusade to counter alleged and unspecified wrongs also does little to help you. Dean B (talk) 19:02, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
