Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2025 March 9
This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on March 9, 2025.
Deep sea angler
- Deep sea angler → Krøyer's deep sea angler fish (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Retarget to Ceratioidei; this is a very generic common name that can be used for any one member of the suborder Anthropophoca (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Deep-sea fangly fish
- Deep-sea fangly fish → Anglerfish (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Delete; this is not a term anyone uses, especially in the literature Anthropophoca (talk) 15:28, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
History of the Orthodox Church in Italy
- History of the Orthodox Church in Italy → Orthodox Archdiocese of Italy#History (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
The article was first created in 2006 to contain the history of Eastern Orthodoxy in Italy.
Then, it was repurposed to tell the history of the fringe group Chiesa Ortodossa in Italia on 27 July 2007 (still with a general history of E. Orthodoxy in Italy). Two days later, the topic of the article was changed to be about the history of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Italy. And 15 minutes later, the article was turned into a redirect to Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Italy to which its content was merged into.
The current target, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Italy, is obviously wrong as this jurisdiction does not represent the whole of E. Orthodoxy in Italy; it is a WP:RSURPRISE.
Therefore, I propose the redirect be retargeted to the broader article Eastern Orthodoxy in Italy. Veverve (talk) 15:24, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Félix Quincy Lengyel
- Félix Quincy Lengyel → xQc (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
- Félix Quincy → xQc (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
- Felix Quincy → xQc (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Delete. The author, Mylian from Drow Omens, altered the name in the xQc article and created these redirects without providing reliable sources to support the claim that xQc's full name is "Félix Quincy Lengyel". A quick Google search for "Félix Quincy Lengyel" only yields two results: the xQc article and a mirrored version of the article. If the author provides reliable sources for these changes, I will withdraw my request. Xoontor (talk) 15:22, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Nehruvian rate of growth
- Nehruvian rate of growth → Hindu rate of growth (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Nobody has used this term except fringe Indian right-wing. Capitals00 (talk) 03:11, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep as redirects don't have to be neutral. You yourself admit it's used by some. Should probably be mentioned at the target, though. — Anonymous 22:16, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

2024 United States Constitutional Crisis
- 2024 United States Constitutional Crisis → Second presidency of Donald Trump#Federal funding freeze (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Delete as probably created in error. The second presidency started in 2025, and we do have a 2025 United States constitutional crisis redirect, although that targets DOGE. The 2025 redirect has its RfD in progress, and I did not bundle this with it because of the WP:CRYSTAL arguments there that will not be applicable for the 2024 redirect. Jay 💬 09:41, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- When creating this article I intended it to state "2025," but I wrote 2024. The redirect was created on Jan 30 and this was already when the federal funding freeze was occurring. It could be kept as it's cheap to keep redirects and someone could write that. Because Trump didn't ascend to the presidency until January and the ensuing talk of constitutional crisis was in 2025 however the title is not correct. The "2025 United States Constitutional Crisis" (listed below) should be kept though, as numerous citations describe the funding freeze as a government crisis. Des Vallee (talk) 11:20, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- May be speedy deleted as a WP:G7. Jay 💬 11:42, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
2025 United States constitutional crisis
- 2025 United States constitutional crisis → Department of Government Efficiency (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
As well as DOGE's activities on federal agencies, the term 'constitutional crisis' has also been used around the same time to refer to threats to ignore court rulings as well. Xeroctic (talk) 13:03, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Delete popular discussion of a constitutional crisis is not limited solely to DOGE or to its actions.
- This would have to be its own article, but the use of the term in a descriptive sense would have to become much more widespread in the RS than it currently is in order for it be considered a neutral point of view description. Mikewem (talk) 14:46, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Delete as the identification of this name with the target subject is not sufficiently established. Neither is expansion to an article appropriate to describe what is currently a matter of passing opinion (WP:RECENTISM). 2601:642:4F84:1590:DDA6:FEA5:D834:38CE (talk) 16:16, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- Redirect to Second_presidency_of_Donald_Trump#Federal_funding_freeze, the same as the 2024 United States Constitutional Crisis created earlier that I made in January 2025. Also I don't know why this specific redirect was created, as the capitalized one led to it, so delete one as you don't need two. The current usage of the term comes from the Government freeze of which (I can't believe I am saying this) DOGE is responsible for. Usage: 1. Des Vallee (talk) 21:59, 16 February 2025 (UTC)
- different capitalizations are fine and dandy, so don't worry too much about that part (provided they're not implausible) consarn (prison phone) (crime record) 12:29, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

- I did not bundle it here because the WP:CRYSTAL arguments will not be applicable. I have nominated it separately though. Jay 💬 09:45, 9 March 2025 (UTC)

- Delete It would be WP:CRYSTAL to say that one will occur this year, and an outright constitutional crisis as that term is generally understood has not yet occurred (concerning developments wrt rule of law etc notwithstanding). RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 11:55, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- Don't delete I'm not convinced this is a crystal ball violation - IMO even the current situation could reasonably be called a constitutional crisis. DOn't care what target to use, though. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:37, 6 March 2025 (UTC)

- Don't delete. There are plenty of sources (e.g. New York Times, Brookings, The Atlantic) describing the US as being in/having a constitutional crisis and lots more asking the question about whether the current situation is one so this is a very plausible search term that should be a blue link. That leaves the question of what the target should be, and frankly I'm not sure. Second presidency of Donald Trump isn't really specific enough but every plausible subsection of that is too specific. Possibly Department of Government Efficiency but again that's only part of the reason (albeit a large part) why sources are calling it a constitutional crisis. List of Linux MMORPGs
- List of Linux MMORPGs → Video games and Linux#Massively multiplayer online role-playing games (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
No such list or section in target article. (However, this redirect is a {{R with history}} due to being an article prior to its redirection in 2009.) Steel1943 (talk) 08:26, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Empire of Death (Doctor Who)
- Empire of Death (Doctor Who) → Empire of Death (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Retarget to Empire of Death (Doctor Who episode). The only other Doctor Who related article is Empire of Death (novel), and that is only a redirect to a list entry. It can be easily dealt with by a hatnote on the episode page (which already exists) so our readers don't need to go to the full disambiguation page if they are looking for Doctor Who related articles. --woodensuperman 08:52, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Keep There are zero articles that link to Empire of Death (Doctor Who), so there is no fear of
our readers [going] to the full disambiguation page if they are looking for Doctor Who related articles.
. As there are multiple titles of "Empire of Death" within Doctor Who, this redirect needs to link to the disambiguation page where both are linked, as neither is the primary topic. -- Alex_21 TALK 08:57, 26 February 2025 (UTC)- There are only two "Empire of Death" titles related to Doctor Who on the disambiguation page, not "multiple", and only one of these is an actual article. --woodensuperman 09:29, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Two = more than one - multiple. Is there any form of guideline stating that there has to be more than one actual article? -- Alex_21 TALK 20:10, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- There are only two "Empire of Death" titles related to Doctor Who on the disambiguation page, not "multiple", and only one of these is an actual article. --woodensuperman 09:29, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Weak Retarget will make it slightly less of a hassle to wikilink the episode in the future. DWF91 (talk) 16:23, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget, the episode is much more well known than the novel, not to mention that the novel doesn't even have its own article. drdr150 Yell at me Spy on me 17:23, 26 February 2025 (UTC)
- Weak keep per Alex21 -- 65.92.246.77 (talk) 05:00, 28 February 2025 (UTC)
- Retarget as proposed by nom. This redirect includes a specific disambiguator for Doctor Who, while the current target is a DAB with half the entries being non-Doctor Who related. There are only two Doctor Who targets, and both are covered by the proposed retargeting given the existence of the hatnote. The person typing this into their search bar doesn't want DC comics or a book unrelated to Doctor Who, so let's not bother giving those options. Every Doctor Who option is covered by the retarget, and the episode is far more likely the desired destination anyway... it's the WP:PTOPIC for this narrow disambiguation. "Yangchuanosaurus" zigongensis
- "Yangchuanosaurus" zigongensis → Yangchuanosaurus (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]

Wikipedia:PADEMELONS
- Wikipedia:PADEMELONS → Wikipedia:Large_language_models#Original_research_and_"hallucinations" (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Delete as not explained at destination. While I found the in-joke viewing page history then searching, others may find this WP:RASTONISHing. This shortcut was never used by editors besides its creator and unnecessarily uses up a potential shortcut seeing the shorter WP:AIFAIL already exists. 173.206.110.217 (talk) 07:18, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- (Creator) meh. Maybe it'll get used in the future, maybe it won't. That said, I don't find the WP:RASTONISH argument very convincing, since a silly title like WP:PADEMELONS could point anywhere. Cremastra (talk) 13:32, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Keep but include some mention of the exchange somewhere in the "demonstrations" section to make it a bit more obvious. It's an obscure internal shortcut that the public won't see, it's not doing enough harm to worry about deleting BugGhost 🦗👻 15:21, 24 February 2025 (UTC)

Speared
weird case. "speared" as an adjective can refer to wielding or being poked with the big disjointed hitbox the target speaks about, sure, but as a verb, it can refer to pretty much any form of stabbing, plus tackling people with your head in gridiron football, and plants going brrr (so wiktionary says, at least). admittedly not keen on retargeting to spearing, but you never know consarn (prison phone) (crime record) 20:26, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Jay 💬 06:09, 9 March 2025 (UTC) - Maybe retarget to spear (disambiguation)? Or to spearing#Other, which has verb forms that could reasonably be used as "speared" and avoids the awkward issue of it pointing to people's names first. Mixed-culture
- Mixed-culture → Multiracial people (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
The redirect is not synonymous with the target: Someone with multiple cultures is not necessarily of multiple races. Steel1943 (talk) 19:34, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- Comment: Multi-ethnic and Mixed ethnicity also redirect to Multiracial people. That article bolds multi-ethnic people in the lede as if it will meaningfully deal with the topic, but it does not as it stands. StainedGlassCavern (talk) 17:57, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Wikipedia home page
- Wikipedia home page → Main Page (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
Unnecessary redirect recently (December 2024) created. Only has 7 pageviews in the 30 days. Justjourney (talk) 02:06, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Weak keep – unambiguous target and not too implausible of a search term. But the main page is by far the easiest page to get to on Wikipedia, so there's not much of a downside to deleting this redirect. jlwoodwa (talk) 06:54, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete. I would suspect someone searching this precise phrase would actually be looking for an article or section of an article about the main page. In fact, I'm a bit shocked that there is no section regarding Wikipedia's main page on Wikipedia. So ... WP:RETURNTORED. Steel1943 (talk) 08:28, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Delete per Steel1943. I also checked on English Wikipedia, surprisingly nothing there either beyond one sentence about TFA. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 11:54, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
- Keep per Jlwoodwa. Someone using this search term is looking for Wikipedia's home page, which we call the Main Page. We don't have any encyclopaedic content about the Main Page, if that changes we can reconsider but until then this is unambiguous. Thryduulf (talk) 15:11, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
