Remineralize The Earth

- Remineralize The Earth → John D. Hamaker (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
deletion because a red link is needed for remineralize the earth so that a new article can detail the work undertaken by this non-profit organization. Mfbx5sf62 (talk) 23:10, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Comment This can easily be done by overwriting the redirect. Jalen Folf (talk) 03:32, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Procedural keep This is a perfectly valid redirect for now that provides information about the organization. @Mfbx5sf62: Are you trying to create an article yourself, or are you hoping that a red link will encourage someone else to do so? I dont think the latter works in this case because someone will already find pertinent info that is not misleading. If you want to create the article, you have two easy ways to do so:
- Simply click edit on the redirect to make an article directly (maybe even WP:BOLDly copy/paste split the section saying where the content came from to start)
- Start a draft at Draft:Remineralize the Earth, and once the page is ready, either submit through WP:AfC (preferred for new editors), or request a move to overwrite the redirect at WP:RM/TR
- -2pou (talk) 05:34, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Procedural keep. From the very top of this page, "If you want to replace an unprotected redirect with an article, you do not need to list it here. Turning redirects into articles is wholly encouraged. Be bold!" Narky Blert (talk) 07:12, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep but the capitalisation should be Remineralize the Earth and any new article should be there. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:34, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Agreed. Moving to this location without leaving a redirect would match the org's own naming convention. Possibly refine to include #Remineralize the Earth -2pou (talk) 17:08, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was uncontroversial retarget to WYSIWYG. This was the target before a vandal vandalised it. This was also closed and reopened by me, but there hasn't been any more discussion in the past five hours. I'll assume this is uncontroversial. - Clerical abuse → Catholic Church sexual abuse cases (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: //delete ]
This is not confined to Catholicism. Hog Farm (talk) 21:52, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Agree it should not redirect to Catholic Church sexual abuse cases. It is misleading and even contributes to a misunderstanding that clergy abuse is limited to the Catholic Church, which is insulting to victims of all clergy sexual abuse. I'm not sure where it should redirect, possibly Religious abuse, but if necessary retitle it to "Clerical abuse in the Catholic Church". Sundayclose (talk) 23:00, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Retarget to Religious abuse per Sundayclose -2pou (talk) 02:22, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Retarget per above. There is also Sexual abuse#Positions of power to consider, but IMO it would be a less satisfactory target. Narky Blert (talk) 07:10, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Retarget per above. "Clerical" isn't "Catholic", and "abuse" isn't "sexual abuse". Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:40, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

- Delete per nom. since it does not exist, and although it may be a reasonable search for a fan to make, it serves no navigational function, and otherwise the fan would go to "The Land Before Time" to look for additional sequels. --Bejnar (talk) 17:57, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

The list is not descriptive, but it is an accurate target, and depending upon what the searcher is looking for, may be the solution he or she seeks. - Redirect to Frenetic random activity periods, which actually describes this concept. An internet search for this term turns up tons of results of veterinary hospitals referring to this behavior as "midnight crazies", so I've added a sourced mention to this suggested target. I'd also hazard a guess that none of the delete voters have ever owned a cat. signed, Rosguill talk 19:15, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

- Delete. I could find nothing at all. The German names for Moldavia/Moldova and so on all derive from "Moldau", and changing -au to -er strikes me as highly implausible; it's not how German works. To answer the "Who is this?" question, that can be answered by looking at the page history. The edit was made by Caliniuc at 13:38, 13 May 2020. - The result of the discussion was withdrawn. When this was nominated, this seemed like an implausible redirect. However, the situation has changed, and the police officer has been charged for murder. There has been an unusually large amount of discussion, probably because many people were led here due to this being such a popular destination. However, all the delete arguments are now outdated, and there is a clear consensus to keep. (non-admin closure) CrazyBoy826 17:06, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

- Delete for now – Would not be opposed to re-opening when more definitive information is released from reliable sources, although this somewhat conflicts with the ongoing move discussion on the linked page, so we should probably let that finish before closing this. Jdcomix (talk) 16:16, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. Enough sources have called it a murder, so it's plausible that people would search using this term to find the article. -- Tavix (talk) 16:23, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep It has been called murder (or death or killing) in reliable sources. Useful redirect. --Thi (talk) 17:00, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Delete – Murder is a legal term. Referring to this as a murder in WP:WikiVoice would constitute a WP:BLPCRIME violation (and might even be libellous), as nobody has been convicted thereof (though that may change). That's enough of a reason not to use it in the title of an article or a redirect either. I don't find the argument that people will look up this exact term particularly convincing as a reason to keep it, because the article that is the target of the redirect (Death of George Floyd) is one of the first search results when searching for the title of this redirect anyway – people will find the article they are looking for even without the redirect, so the redirect is not necessary. - Keep - At least until or if proven otherwise. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:54, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Delete - there has been no conviction as of yet and therefor no murder. If that changes the main article will likely be moved to that title, and there will be no reason for a redirect anyway. 172.101.5.82 (talk) 04:11, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Delete. This is a clear breach of WP:BLPCRIME. The officer charged has NOT been found guilty of murder, and murder must not be inferred. WWGB (talk) 05:16, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep, BLPCRIME covers whether or not we should call it murder in our own voice in the article. Redirects are allowed to be non-neutral. BLPCRIME also isn't a hard and fast ban on content that implies guilt that must be mechanically followed, but rather a strong caution against it. signed, Rosguill talk 05:28, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong Keep. Those citing BLPCRIME are in error. That is for articles, whereas RNEUTRAL allows non-neutral redirects. Further, as a redirect doesn't need to be factual, there is no need to wait for an autopsy. Yardenac (talk) 06:01, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Weak Keep - Rather or not Floyd was murdered, this is going to be a popular redirect. Also, WP:BLPCRIME doesn't apply to redirects and WP:RNEUTRAL allows for non-neutral redirects. However, I think User:Jim Michael has as good point with the libel concern; theoretically, I guess a lawsuit is possible. Iamreallygoodatcheckers (talk) 11:00, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong keep. The article is correctly titled "Death", because that is the established fact. WP:BLPCRIME doesn't apply here; this redirect does not name a living person. Per WP:RNEUTRAL, redirects do not have to be neutral. However, the most telling argument to me is as follows. This case is all over the newspapers, radio, TV and social media. What is a very likely search term for readers who don't know our naming conventions? That's right, this one - and there's evidence for that in the page views. It helps readers find what they are looking for. Narky Blert (talk) 12:42, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Could the people who want the redirect kept address the libel concern? Jim Michael (talk) 14:00, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure we'd have to literally include text in the article, in wikivoice saying "Officer XYZ murdered George Floyd" for a libel charge to even begin to be plausible, and even then I think we'd still be on pretty decent legal footing given the amount and tenor of coverage related to this issue. signed, Rosguill talk 18:31, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Could the people who want the redirect kept address the libel concern? Jim Michael (talk) 14:00, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Strong Keep It's a redirect WP:RNEUTRAL. Redirects are not indexed, we're not calling it a murder, there is no libel. We just redirect a likely search term (and it cannot be denied, a lot of people think of it as a murder) to the relevant article. ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 14:06, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep it's a plausible redirect to a neutral, BLP-compliant, non-illegal article. ——Serial # 17:40, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep Fits the definition of a murder, Chauvin was charged with murder (so I would support renaming it altogether and I don't understand the controversy here), and it's a neutral redirect anyway. --Trougnouf (talk) 19:55, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Stronge Keep One of the officers was charged with murder and the search is already a most plausible search for the topic.--Maleschreiber (talk) 20:43, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep People see it as a murder, because it's a killing. If no one is convicted of murdering him, people will still call it a murder. —Naddruf (talk ~ contribs) 22:54, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep Good search term for a redirect, even if not currently accurate for the page. Redirects are allowed wider latitude on neutrality per the guideline WP:RNEUTRAL. Simply categorize with {{R from incorrect title}}—Bagumba (talk) 04:10, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- Keep. Many people call it this right now, so it's best to keep this since people will search up this way. OcelotCreeper (talk) 14:54, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

- Neutral/I'm confused - I was notified of this discussion on my user talk page, but I'm a bit baffled as to why. I can't recall having had any interaction with either of these articles, and I can't find my name in their histories. I also find it a bit surprising that the nominator re-listed their own nomination, but maybe they know something I don't? --NYKevin 04:21, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

Spitzmauskc proposed this redirect for deletion with the following rationale. Misleading redirect to PK-35 Vantaa, implying that any instance of “PK-35” is a specific reference to that club. “PK-35” is most commonly used when referring to the independent football club of that name based in Helsinki, whereas the name “PK-35 Vantaa” is most commonly used when referring to the independent football club based in Vantaa, Finland. Both clubs field teams in the Kansallinen Liiga and the common forms of their names can be seen in use here: https://www.palloliitto.fi/ottelut-ja-sarjat/kansallinen-liiga/kansallinen-liiga-info (in Finnish).

- Disambiguate. I've added a draft. We have no articles equivalent to fi:Pallokerho-35, fi:Pallokerho-35 (naiset), fi:PK-35 Vantaa (naiset) or fi:PK-35 Vantaa (miehet); so what Spitzmauskc says may be true, but we have no targets. Narky Blert (talk) 10:30, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

As far as I can establish, the term "Lettic Germans" doesn't exist in English, so doesn't constitute a plausible search term Ingratis (talk) 03:06, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Ingratis: the analogue is Estonian Germans, which is a redirect at the moment. Maybe both should be deleted. Compare eg Estonian diaspora in Germany (et:Saksamaa eestlased)--Estopedist1 (talk) 11:07, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Estopedist1: - Apologies - I've not made myself clear. The problem I'm having is not with the concept, but specifically with the word "Lettic". If what is intended here is "ethnic Germans in Latvia", it needs to be "Latvian Germans" (or in theory "Lettonian Germans", or if you want to be really old-fashioned, "Lettish Germans"). "Lettic" is a really rare word and in practice seems to apply almost exclusively to linguistics (whatever Wiktionary may say). The reason why I don't see any point in it as a redirect is that it's so unlikely as a search term. Ingratis (talk) 11:42, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
