Unshō
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was move Unshō (monk) over redirect. (non-admin closure) feminist 14:57, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- Delete No evidence that the voice actor in question is known mononymically as "Unshō", but Unshō is the name of a noted Shingon monk of the early Edo period.[1] I'm drafting an article on the latter off-wiki at the moment, and while I could just write it over the redirect ... well, the WP:WAM automatic new article checking tool won't give me the credit I'm due for "pages" thay I didn't "create", and there's really no good reason that the redirect in question already exists anyway. I could also give my new article a parenthetical disambiguator, but it would only lead to an RM later. Preserving page history when the topic is changed to a completely unrelated topic is usually not a priority. Hijiri 88 (聖やや) 22:17, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Delete per nom. This isn't a mononym voice actor like Chafurin or Yukana AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:56, 19 October 2017 (UTC) updated 01:37, 7 November 2017 (UTC)- Disambiguate - Might as well convert into a disambiguation page listing people with that name. It's not like Ishizuka is the only notable person in Japan with that name. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 08:54, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete; while this is a redirect from a given name ({{R from given name}}), the evidence has already been presented; subject is not known mononymously. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 02:34, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
Keepfor now as a {{R from given name}}, seeing that the current target is currently the only person on Wikipedia with that name. If "credit" is so important to you, simply create the monk at a different title, and file a request at WP:RM/TR to have it moved over to Unshō. -- Tavix (talk) 18:25, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Move Unshō (monk) over redirect and hatnote. I alluded to this in my previous rationale if the article were to be created, but it's better to make it explicit. -- Tavix (talk) 21:29, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Relisting comment: Now that Unshō (monk) has been created, should we consider either page WP:PRIMARYTOPIC or disambiguate?

- Move over redirect The monk would be primary topic as the mononym. Ishizuka can then be a hatnote. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 23:36, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Too vague and ambiguous. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 09:46, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- What else could this refer to, Champion? – Uanfala 10:22, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- This is apparently a Middle English form of the word. I can see it as a potential misspelling for Houss (a place in East Burra), or for the surname Khous (borne for example by Guillaume Khous), but I don't think either is very plausible. – Uanfala 10:28, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
Keep per Uanfala's finds, considering that it is in a version of English and we do not have a "Middle English" Wikipedia. Steel1943 (talk) 15:37, 25 October 2017 (UTC)- Sure enough, this redirect is a Neelix creation. I'll just withdraw my vote for now. Steel1943 (talk) 04:10, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
Keepas the search results for Hous show a bunch of the Middle English and other uses in over 100 articles. There are a few places where it is used as an abbreviation for Houston, but not as much as house [2] AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:01, 25 October 2017 (UTC)- Comment "Hous." is the ISO 4 abbreviation for Housing (which is a separate page from House). Also, it's incorrect to use it as an abbreviation for Houston in journal names (should be "Houst."). 59.149.124.29 (talk) 05:12, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- I'm supporting the Dabify now. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 03:34, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

- Delete per AngusWOOF's search link above. I don't see that it's consistent enough usage for linking to anything. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:14, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Delete. This is the 21st century. This is just more Neelix nonsense. Softlavender (talk) 03:35, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Neelix delete when we are trying too hard to come up with a rationalization for keeping this— and we are trying too hard. Mangoe (talk) 13:56, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
- Weak retarget to Hou, which is a DAB page. I think this could plausibly be used as a plural for Hou (currency) or Hou (title). -- Notecardforfree (talk) 14:34, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
- Disambiguate between the several legitimate meanings that have been uncovered so far. Draft dab is a available below the redirect. – Uanfala 00:18, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

- Retarget to Augusto Severo International Airport and add {R from former name}[3]. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 06:58, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
Retarget to Augusto Severo International Airport as {{R from former name}}.The new target actually mentions the airport's former name as Paramarim Airport, and this redirect would effectively refer to the associated airfield. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk) 00:21, 22 October 2017 (UTC)Delete. The other airport was formerly known as Parnamirim Field. Paramirim is a different town, in a different part of Brazil. it's conceivable this could serve as an {{R from typo}} (and there's at least one result on google books where it's used like that [4]), but it is also the name of an oilfield [5], that's not covered on wikipedia. – Uanfala 13:39, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

- Comment @Hydronium Hydroxide and Jd22292: Would Uanfala's findings impact your !vote at all? Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 16:42, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Absolutely. Delete based on Uanfala's findings. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 16:43, 3 November 2017 (UTC)
- Ah thanks for the pickup and the ping. As well as the book above, it's also in the records of the 460th Space Wing ([6][7][8]), this journal article, a few times in the wild ([9][10][11]) and probably this book and this thesis. Weak Support for {{R from typo}} (it's better, but there's not a major loss if deleted). ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 04:52, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

- UnsureI've had a look at two of Hydronium's sources and they do indeed seem to refer to the air field in Parnamirim. Still, I'm a bit uneasy to let there be an {{R from typo}} when this is the legitimate proper name of a different entity that might be mentionworthy, if not notable. I won't try to insist on deletion however, as the search engine (which is what readers will face if this gets deleted, and which is what misspellings are generally dealt by) doesn't seem to be helpful in this case. – Uanfala 22:11, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- Retarget to Augusto Severo International Airport per Hydronium Hydroxide's links. It seems to be a common enough misspelling or alternative spelling to let it take precedence over redlinking for an oil field. -- Tavix (talk) 19:45, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
