The result of the discussion was keep. --BDD (talk) 18:34, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Shortcut does not make sense for target. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 14:52, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep because, surprisingly, it has over 200 page views in the past 90 days, largely evenly spread: see WP:RFD#K5: a useful redirect. --Rubbish computer 16:33, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Rubbish computer. ~Liancetalk/contribs 23:11, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: a weird shortcut. 333-blue 01:05, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The nom is incorrect in stating "does not make sense for the target", since it obviously directly pertains to one of the examples types given for that WP:AADD point. "It is a ..." – the invalid keep/delete rationale people frequently give, in which they explain what the subject is (in their view), which does not actually say anything about whether it's WP:Notable, or does not otherwise address any kind of policy concern, pro or con. Examples: "Delete: It's just another Midwestern metal band." "Keep: It's a real TV show; I just watched it last night." "Delete: It's a really well-written novel with an important social justice message." "Delete. It's just more 'political correction' crap." And so on.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  08:14, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see any reason to delete this, but some explanation at the target page might be in order, as the section seems to have drifted off in a different direction from the "It's a..." type argument that was present when the redirect was created 8 years ago. I think of inherited notability as arguing that something is notable because of its association with something else notable. Inherent notability is somewhat different, though I can see why they were folded in together. Just rephrasing a bit could help clarify. I gave it a try. --BDD (talk) 13:50, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hapan

The result of the discussion was retarget to List of Star Wars species (F–J)#Hapan. --BDD (talk) 18:32, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is a plausible typo (yes, I know), but people searching for this might be looking for some form of fan fiction, which isn't notable, but quite significant it the relevant community/ies. [1] - TheChampionMan1234 09:58, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment in languages that do not have the frontal labial "djz" for Japan depending on your transliteration, I don't know what it is in the IPA, you could possibly confuse this as the soft or almost silent "y" sound. Here we are not speaking but writing, so this is WP:RFD#D2 nonsense. Si Trew (talk) 00:42, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Computer data storage. --BDD (talk) 19:02, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:XY. The current target is wrong, but almost every article in Category:Compact disc and Category:DVD could potentially be called by the redirect. Steel1943 (talk) 01:17, 18 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We kind of already have that at computer data storage. -- Tavix (talk) 01:53, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I briefly considered it, but decided that a "data disk" could also be internal as well. (eg: hard disk drive). -- Tavix (talk) 21:02, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You're probably right. I support that. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 21:22, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing now deliberately without looking, but hard disk ) (hard disc(, floppy disk (floppy disc), winchester disk (winchester disc and compact disc (compact disk) would seem to me equally likely targets. DABit then with whatever above makes sense, I deliberately had not looked so that it is coming from a readers point of view, I hope. Si Trew (talk) 06:57, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Ok so after the guessing game I set myself, Hard disk is a redirect to Hard disk drive, Hard disc also. Winchester disc is red, Winchester Disk is red, Winchester Disc is red. (You have Noam Webster to blame for changing it from "disc"" to "disk" in US spelling. We can diskuss that elsewhere...) I think we should DAB it. Especially because of the WP:ENGVAR of disc/disk, otherwise we would end up in a combinatorial explosion. Si Trew (talk) 07:03, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Great Murder

The result of the discussion was delete. WP:INVOLVED close given the backlog and unanimous consensus. --BDD (talk) 16:51, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would think this would refer to the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria rather than the war itself, but I was unable to find this phrase used elsewhere, so I'm recommending deletion. --BDD (talk) 14:28, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I could just about see that it was about the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand but let's face it it had it coming, that was just the spark to the gun~, he just happened to be the right aristocrat in the right place at the right time. Delete, meaningless. Si Trew (talk) 07:25, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
And apparently we can't be bothered to R Alexander Solzhenitzynto Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. I bet there w3as a fight over that one, we do have Alexander Solzhenitsyn so I am not going to bother to suggest we create it. The fact we have already translated the cyrillic alphabet into english and the name "Alexander"in English is Älexander would have no bearing on the matter at all, after all, I managed to spell his surname right the first time in the transliteration, but who cares, we are not here to help our readers find what they are looking for. Oh, um, I thought that was exactly our job. I must be mistaken. Sasha (name) is usually the Russian and Eastern European familiar name for Alexander. Si Trew (talk) 07:36, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Famoulsy Margaret Thatcher called him "Solzhenit's'kín. We presumably have that somewhere, although WP:WIKIQUOTE would be better for it. Si Trew (talk) 07:41, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Our problem, really, is in the Decline of the English Murder. Si Trew (talk) 07:51, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
