WP:FORRED; fruit preserves are not exclusive to cultures that speak Urdu. Steel1943 (talk) 00:14, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Murica

The result of the discussion was no consensus. --BDD (talk) 13:37, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

There's no compelling reason for this redirect to the Spanish mid-sized city. There is, however, a fairly compelling alternate target: American patriotism. A web search for Murica returns millions of results (I know, I know) and scads of actual, mostly reputable news sources that use the term. It's almost always used as a way of referring to American patriotism. The prior redirect was to Stereotypes of Americans and had no reason to point there; this proposed target is much more in line, according to sources, with what a typical reader is expecting when they type in "Murica". Oh it does as a wiktiomary éink but I don't think that is helpful. Delete. You want to know a word, look in a dictionary. WP:NOTDIC, WP:RFD#D5 WP:RFD#D2 Si Trew (talk) 21:20, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's not confusing or nonsense because they're being directed to a place that covers the topic they've searched for. -- Tavix (talk) 21:39, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, it goes to a place they are probably WP:ASTONISHed to arrive at. Si Trew (talk) 05:18, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have one in mind? -- Tavix (talk) 21:39, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Murcia. Alakzi (talk) 21:44, 11 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Or Mercia or Maurice or Morris or Moroccan. I mean, either it is or it isn't. I just think this is best left to the search engine, hence calling for deletion. Si Trew (talk) 05:18, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it's just me or WP:WORLDWIDE, but I have never heard the United States called Murica nor 'Murica (I lived in Texas for a couple of years, but that is hardly the United States). It is WP:ASTONISHing to me. Since 'Murica is just a soft redirect to Wiktionary, we would, in effect, have a cryptic double redirect were we to retarget there. Si Trew (talk) 05:27, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's not really a misspelling though, it's an {{R from abbreviation}} or {{R from slang}} or both. But since it's essentially a double redirect I still have my doubts that it should be anything. I realise I am in the minority: So was Hitler when he started. (Joke) Si Trew (talk) 23:32, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's the strangest demonstration of Godwin's law I've seen in a while. I meant that it's a misspelling of Murcia. It is, of course, not a misspelling of "'Murica". Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 17:24, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Ivanvector. I was the nom of the previous RFD discussion; Ivanvector's comment basically sums up my thoughts. That, and per the Wiktionary entry wikt:America, it doesn't look like the version of this word without an apostrophe an the beginning is an acceptable alsmg version of "America". (This is a bit odd since merica is listed, but it is what it is, it seems.) Steel1943 (talk) 16:02, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Ohio State University Radio Observatory. --BDD (talk) 13:34, 26 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what to do with this. When I found it, somewhat had made it into an article that only had a Taxobox. I reverted it back to its original state as a redirect, but I don't see it in its target. I'm not sure what to do with it, so I've brought it here. The result of the discussion was no consensus, default to keep. Even though the active pool of RfD participants have changed, we're still split between race stage and road bicycle racing#Stage races as the best target for this redirect. Deryck C. 13:04, 28 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Different or not? 333-blue 09:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comment, or is it a race on a stage, or a race of stagecoaches? Probably not, but for example the Wells Fargo and other stagecoaches definitely aimed to be the fastest way to the West. Si Trew (talk) 21:47, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Relisting since the group of editors who are actively participating in WP:RFD has changed slightly since the previous comment in this nomination, and the consensus might benefit from some new eyes looking at this discussion.

This seems like an awfully specific target. I would think that the redirect term would itself have other possible uses. bd2412 T 13:55, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Delete as WP:RFD#D8 per the earlier RFD on November Yankee → New York. I'm not nominating the only two other redirects of this form (Victor CharlieViet Cong and Whiskey HotelWhite House) because they've both entered popular usage to refer to those specific targets. However, this NATO phonetic alphabet spelling is not widely used either for the U.S. state or anything else on MD (disambiguation). 58.176.246.42 (talk) 01:36, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) -- Tavix (talk) 16:59, 25 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tony South is the primary article, so the disambiguation appears unnecessary to me. If another "Tony South" arises in the future, the current article would be moved back to the redirect page. There is nothing in the history, so I can't see the purpose of it being there now. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:19, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There's no mention of DZMM-TV in the target article, even the change of its call sign to such. The only ones mentioned there are DZMM (an AM radio station) & DZMM TeleRadyo. theenjay36 01:18, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect doesn't seem specifically identified at State (polity) or Sovereign state. I cannot find a good option for retargetting. Steel1943 (talk) 00:55, 18 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
