- File:Pentecostal Preacher.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- File hosted on .gov website - but it is not enough to confirm that it is a work of the United States Federal Government. Bulwersator (talk) 04:20, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- The website hosting the file belongs to the Library of Congress, being a Work of the US Government Agency. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk)
- Isn't the Library of Congress similar to NARA in that the website hosts works by lots of different people and not only government works? --Stefan2 (talk) 22:36, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- "Photograph taken before 1923" but it does not mean that it was published before 1923. Bulwersator (talk) 04:24, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Note: The file was moved from File:Renan.jpg to File:Ernest Renan1.jpg by TRLIJC19 (talk · contribs) at 05:22, 4 September 2012 (UTC). AnomieBOT⚡ 07:05, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Ernest Renan died in 1892 so the picture was no later than this. Hence, it will certainly become PD on 1 January 2013, 120 years after creation. If the photo is from earlier than the year of his death, as seems likely,[1] it will be PD already. Thincat (talk) 11:04, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Without verifiable source. Speedy removed without providing source Bulwersator (talk) 04:49, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I support Bulwersator on this. The file can or cannot be made by NASA, it may also be from a non-free source like Google or Bing. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 15:22, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Results was Delete as an F8, as there's a higher resolution version at the Commons at File:PIA02127.jpg. The licensing checks out fine. Dianna (talk) 23:33, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- The source is clearly indicated, and at this point in history there is no source other than NASA, so this one is very clearly public domain. You can verify this at http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/pia02127. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 12:19, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- "only consists of typefaces, individual words, slogans, or simple geometric shapes" - this image is rather quite complex Bulwersator (talk) 08:45, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Source is adequate as "NASA Worldwind" there is no water mark to suggest it came from Google earth. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 10:41, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- NASA World Wind gets all its images from Landsat-7. Thus the file is a product of NASA, in extension of a US Government Agency. It is therefore a free image. Rishabh Tatiraju (talk) 13:06, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- File:Blaenavon High Level Railway Station.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Tagged {{PD-author}}. A source URL is given [5]; that URL appears to be dead, but Archive.org has an archived copy [6]. The images are missing there, but I assume this picture is the big one with the caption that begins, "Blaenavon (High Level) station some time after nationalisation in 1948," since that is the caption of the image here, verbatim. Small print after the caption on the archived page reads, "(we are unable to attribute this photograph, but acknowledge that the copyright resides elsewhere. We would be very happy to make amends if called upon to so do)". So there is explicitly no information about who the author of this photograph is, and there is no evidence that the author has released this image into the public domain as claimed. —Bkell (talk) 19:53, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
