- File:GarbageSTNorthAmerica.png (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Breakinguptheguy ( | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Virtual duplicate of File:GarbageSTinternational.png in the article. Small differences can be covered with text. Fails NFCC#1, 3a and 8 Peripitus (Talk) 01:16, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment why would you use the international covershot instead of the North American covershot? The coverage of the release history is mostly about the North American release history, so it seems that the North American covershot is more appropriate. Further the album was recorded in the US. -- 70.49.127.65 (talk) 20:26, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete one of the images There is no need for two covers. One image (either this one or File:GarbageSTinternational.png) needs to be deleted. However, I have no opinion on which one to keep. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:18, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete Despite the slight numerical preponderance of keeps (3:2), the delete arguments refer to the policy on non-free content, while the keeps do not answer those arguments, but simply refer to incidental facts, such as it being a full CD cover and not just a crop of the vinyl cover. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:57, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- File:Ten (Pearl Jam) album cover.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Keraunoscopia ( | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Unnecessary extra album cover. just a crop of File:PearlJam-Ten2.jpg and this can be covered with text alone. Fails WP:NFCC#1, 3a and 8. Peripitus (Talk) 01:17, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Keep – I may be the uploader, but iirc, I noticed the article was missing an album image, so simply uploaded a fair-use sized image. I really don't care about the outcome of this deletion request, but here's my two cents anyway: if I recall correctly, this image is the actual CD cover as released in 1991. The alternative image shown on the article was for the vinyl release. I would think the CD cover would take precedence (and yes, it's a crop or a zoom-in, but either way, it was cropped or zoomed in by the manufacturers of the image or the product, not by me or anyone else) and the vinyl cover can easily be described in text. – Kerαunoςcopia◁galaxies 18:36, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete The article already has a different cover image. The differences between the cover images aren't discussed critically, so the image fails WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#8. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:20, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep - Keraunoscopia's reasoning is convincing for me - the main album cover is this one, and stating that the other album cover is just a textbox of the first is cumbersome and many readers won't understand. It is especially less likely to be of help because the original image has been rescaled down, so a view of this album cover would be only at extremely low resolution. Magog the Ogre (talk) 00:41, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Noble album cover for a noble album, this ins't a crop of the File:PearlJam-Ten2.jpg as this is the original cover for the original CD release TheDeviantPro (talk) 21:11, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

unneeded non-free image that is largely the same as the other (File:New Found Glory (album).png) in the article. The small changes (image parts swapped and some changed) can easily be covered in text alone if needed, without significantly impairing reader's understanding of the topic (an album). However, this file is obviously only available for one person, so the SVG file is useless for everyone else. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:22, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete The file exists (see Media:Nr alignment tree.png), but is it useful? It would have to be displayed at an enormous size in order to make it useful in a Wikipedia article, but this would require people to buy enormous screens, so Wikipedia use can be ruled out. It is dubious if Commons reusers would find it useful, so let's delete it as useless. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:25, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image is sourced to Mario Wiki, but that's not the original source. The file on Mario Wiki is sourced to here, but I can't find it on that site. The file is all over the web, but I've not been able to trace it back to its original source. As such, and according to our non-free content criteria (of which criterion #10 is the one being violated), the file should be deleted. Powers T 13:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Well anytime you see "source" mentioned, you should read that as "original source", because what's important is not "what website did you grab this copy off of?" but "who created this file, when did he or she create it, and to whom does the copyright belong?" Inappropriate use of a non-free image. Fails NFCC #8, you do not need to know what the twitter page looks like to understand the article, it adds very little as the layout of the twitter page isn't an object of substantive discussion in the article. Sven Manguard Wha? 14:57, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Adding webpage screenshot is common in Wikipedia (eg. Blogger, Facebook, Twitter Wikipedia articles). The file increases article quality. --Tito Dutta ✉ 15:15, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep As is common on WP articles about websites, software and related subjects, the screenshot was added because it is considered valuable to the reader to see the general layout and what the user interface looks like. It is a commonly accepted fair use.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:31, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete: Several images already exist to illustrate how Obama uses Twitter. Beyond that, the article does NOT support its inclusion by suggesting Obama's Twitter fans access Obama's tweets using that page instead of through their own accounts or through a program like Tweetdeck. Page is not about this specific profile page anyway, but about the general topic. The article also doesn't talk about the layout of the Obama account where this would be noteworthy. (Is their coverage on his choice of background, his colour choices, his profile picture?) --LauraHale (talk) 06:18, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Question Everything Obama-related is presumably {{PD-USGov}}. Is there anything Twitter-related which isn't either de minimis or below the threshold of originality? --Stefan2 (talk) 22:32, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- It's a screenshot of a copyrighted webpage. The only thing that's PD-USGov is the posts and the photo, but not the interface as a whole. Sven Manguard Wha? 00:05, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes the layout is copyrighted, but this is a FU claim.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:52, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- I'm going with keep - the article is about the very subject this is illustrating. IMO, assuming this adds nothing to the reader's understanding is a very assault on the concept of fair use on Wikipedia itself. Magog the Ogre (talk) 00:39, 9 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - This image is more of "as of" image. Trying to blur out most of content is bad, but even this unedited (almost?) image is unnecessary itself. The only screenshot that could be worth inserting would be a shot of deactivating the account itself, but the account is still active. --George Ho (talk) 19:31, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete - The Twitter timeline is not essential to understanding the page (even if it was at "Obama on Twitter"); the user can see an example image (based on Wikipedia's account) on the Twitter page. --MASEM (t) 21:08, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete: Image does not illustrate the article. Other images of both Twitter and Kutcher are available already. The profile is NOT the topic of the article. People do not land on this page when checking to see what Kutcher is saying: They check their own Twitter feeds. If something strange is going on and most people specifically access Kutcher's article through this specific page, it needs to be absolutely clear in the article that Kutcher's Twitter fans are outside the norm. --LauraHale (talk) 06:15, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The rationale for the file use is reasonable, however in the article itself, no attempt at commentary has been made.
