- I think it does have critical commentary, far more so than most non-free content. It seems to me to show what the text says, S's homage to John Singer Sargent. Better this than a random work to represent his style. The book cover can go but the pic of HBC should stay. I'll add the templatecruft. Angus McLellan (Talk) 09:49, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Delete: This could be speedied under a few different criteria. It has no FUR attached for one (CSD F6), second is that it is book cover being used in an infobox to illustrate not the book, but the subject (CSD F7). On its own it fails our fair use policy - Criteria 1 - No free equivalent; 8 - Contextual significance; and 10(c) -Image description page - "a separate, specific fair-use rationale for each use of the item". This image is even identical to one of the specific examples given at Unacceptable use - Images: Number 10 - A magazine or book cover, to illustrate the article on the person whose photograph is on the cover. The only exception to any of this would be if the image were being used in a stand alone article about the book, or "if the cover itself is the subject of sourced discussion in the article". In the current article on the author of the book ther are only two lines: He published a book on his programs, entitled "A New Beginning". The book's introduction was by Eugene McCarthy. Far from any critical commentary on the book. Soundvisions1 (talk) 00:15, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Delete. However, this deletion is without prejudice to a speedy re-upload if the image can be made to follow the non-free guidelines. This image was deleted primarily because after the discussion and modifications, a proper fair use rationale still did not exist, and therefore one could not close this deletion as keep without running afoul of WP:NFCC. - Comment. Thank you for the note. I have just added critical commentary on the book into the appropriate article on Elias Zoghby:
- Zogby outlined his views on the topic in his book Ecumenical Reflections, which was characterized by Vsevolod, the Orthodox Bishop of Scopelos, as an invitation "to ecumenical metanoia ... to recognize that where there is the fundamental common faith, held alike by Catholics and Orthodox, there is no defensible impediment to Eucharistic Communion."

*Image is PD under license. - Images need to be employed somewhere to be hosted locally on Wikipedia. I would have moved this image to Commons, but the cropped version of this image was already moved to Commons, and this one has distracting elements in it that make it not worthwhile to bother moving it to Commons when the cropped version of the same thing has all the worthwhile elements and none of the distractions. Also, I don't know where you got this idea that public domain images are ineligible for deletion. SchuminWeb (Talk) 20:07, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- If Commons does not already have an image of this Failboat, I would certainly send it there. I'd do it myself, but I'd probably make a hash of it.--Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:14, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Schuminweb, I quite like this image so I've put it back into the article. You removed it just before you nominated it for deletion, saying there was a better free image on commons, but if there is, I can't find it (although this may be wholly down to me, in which case point me to it!!). --Elen of the Roads (talk) 13:21, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Can you identify these copyrighted images? If we can pin down the sources, we can speedy-delete this image. SchuminWeb (Talk) 20:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I have found the sources for at least two images. 1 2. --JovianEye (talk) 21:09, 11 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Could you provide links to the pages that provide context for these images as well? I need to verify the license, and direct links to the images themselves are not as helpful as one might think. SchuminWeb (Talk) 00:43, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
