  • Requested name: UKER (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · target logs · block log · list user · global contribs · central auth · Google)

  • For global renamer: rename user
  • Reason: I have had a curious mishap. Seems like I've been inadvertently using two accounts with the same username, only diferring in capitalization, a problem that originated in Wikipedia letting me register two different accounts to the same email address. I have been actively using both accounts in two different PCs and would like to move over to using only 'UKER', but I obviously don't want to lose track of my contributions. Can you do this while reassigning all my contributions to the new account? Thanks in advance. uKER (talk) 13:29, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is this fair? Please reconsider. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 20:25, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: The argument that the existence of similar usernames indicates that this username should be permitted is a logical fallacy. Also summed up, albeit in an article-related fashion, at WP:OSE. I agree with the decision not to perform this rename; however, my take is kind of the opposite of EVula's: the username would more offensive to those who do not subscribe to a particular religion. Useight (talk) 20:52, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The username would be very offensive to christian or muslim arabs, as it implies that the user sees himself as "Supreme Allah". I don't see why you'd want that username anyway, which would undermine your neutrality in any related discussion. Most of the usernames you referred to have 1-10 edits, you on the other hand would be more involved and pose more problems. --Diaa abdelmoneim (talk) 09:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reason: I left Wikipedia following an unhappy incident a over a year ago. I returned about two months ago - but signed up for a new user name (I should have just renamed the old one, I know). I have now clocked up about 1,700 edits with the new account (Rannpháirtí_anaithnid). I would like the edits from the old account (Grahamzilch) reattributed to the new account (Rannpháirtí_anaithnid) and the old account deleted. I'm logging in under the old account solely for the purposes of making this request. Many thanks. Grahamzilch (talk) 01:06, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • SoxBot has evaluated this request, and a problem(s) was found. Target username exists, and it has edits, deleted edits, and/or log edits. SoxBot (talk) 01:09, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: Unfortunately, accounts cannot be merged nor deleted. You may be able to WP:USURP one account with the other, but I haven't looked into the number of edits or their GDFL-compliance. Useight (talk) 05:46, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The old account has approx. 6,500 edits. The new one has approx. 1,700 edits (that's the one I'm posting from now). The reason I ask is because Wikipedia:Requests for administrator attention says this is the place to "Reassign edits or make name changes." Maybe that's a remnant from the distant past (when IP edits could be reassigned to a user name).
It's my own fault, I know. So, if it ain't possible to reassign the edits, I'll just have to live with it. Thanks. --rannṗáirtí anaiṫnid (coṁrá) 10:16, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Bureaucrat note: Edits can be reassigned to a new name as part of a name change. At this point, the software does not permit assigning edits to a pre-existing name, sorry. -- Avi (talk) 16:50, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: In theory, through a series of usurpations, you could get the 6500 edits moved to the account that currently has 1700, if you prefer that name, but you won't be able to get all 8200 to the same account. Useight (talk) 20:01, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to you both. It's my own fault anyway.
This may seem strange - I don't know what software you have - but would it be possible to assign both to a new account (i.e. "simultaneously" reassign edits from the old account and the current account to a wholly new account)? Otherwise, I think it would be a developer job ... and I really don't think my couple of edits called that ;-)
Much thanks regardless and sorry for pestering you with requests for something I messed up on. --rannṗáirtí anaiṫnid (coṁrá) 23:45, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Without developer intervention, unfortunately not. The software only allows one-to-one assignments, and this would requre many-to-one. Sorry. So, what would you like to do under the restrictions of the software? -- Avi (talk) 14:52, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Let's park it. I'll give consideration to contacting a developer through the IRC channel. In the mean time, do you think that there would be any problem with the "Grahamzilch" account editing that's account's user and talk page with a redirect and note to the "Rannpháirtí anaithnid" account? And placing a note on "Rannpháirtí anaithnid" user page to the guist that I previously edited under the "Grahamzilch" account? --rannṗáirtí anaiṫnid (coṁrá) 10:48, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
