Discussion
Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why you need to run this bot yourself? I think that it might be easier (faster, and less work for you) to contact the operator of one of these bots, who'd probably be very willing to do a task for you. - Not sure, to be honest. :) The Transhumanist (talk · contribs) requested it, and I trust he had a good reason for doing so. I'll ask him to comment. –Juliancolton | Talk 01:25, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- This is just the first of many chores the bot will do, though I'd like the bot approved to serve other WikiProjects upon request as well. I coordinate more than one WikiProject, with more likely. I thought it would be best to get started with a simple low volume periodic task, to provide experience in running a bot. Once Julian has sent some newsletters, we'll submit new tasks for approval. WP:WPOOK's main bot operator (Thehelpfulone) won't be as available to help in the foreseeable future. The Transhumanist 01:56, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Approved for trial (1 days). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Okay, let's deliver a day's worth of newsletters. – Quadell (talk) 12:52, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Y Done. –Juliancolton | Talk 20:53, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Small suggestion: even though The Transhumanist wrote the newsletter, it might be a good idea to mention at the bottom of the edit that the newsletter was delivered by a bot, just so users know that it wasn't specifically The Transhumanist who left the message. An example is, "Newsletter delivered by JCbot (talk · contribs) at 21:05, 25 June 2009 (UTC)." The Earwig (Talk | Contribs) 21:05, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
- Alright, will do next time around. Thanks for the suggestion. –Juliancolton | Talk 21:13, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
