Valliyin Velan is an Indian Tamil-language Melodrama television series that premiered on 2 September 2024 on Zee Tamil and digitally streams on ZEE5.[1] Produced by Jhon Attakulam and director by Prathap Mani, it stars Shreya Anchan, Sidhu and Sridhar.[2]

The story revolves around an innocent young girl Valli from wealthy family, who has been waiting for years to get the love of her father. It is the remake of Zee Telugu's Ammayi Garu.[3]

Plot

The show revolves around Valli (Shreya Anchan) and her father Rathinavel Pandiyan (Saakshi Siva) and his aide Kadhirvelan (Sidhu).[4] Valli is the rich girl of education minister Rathinavel Pandiyan. Rathinavel Pandiyan disliked Valli since an incident in the past makes Rathinavel Pandiyan project his hatred for his wife onto his daughter valli. But Valli craves for love and attention from her father. Kadhirvelan is Rathinavel Pandiyan's assistant who tries to bring father and daughter together.[5]

Production

Development

The show was produced by Jhon Attakulam under the Yatra Media Works. It was second collaboration with Zee Tamil after Kanaa serial. It was directed by Prathap Mani, who is known for his Zee Tamil's series Deivam Thantha Poove and Thavamai Thavamirundhu.[7]

Casting

Shreya Anchan was cast as Valli and This series the mark comeback Shreya after one years hiatus on TV and also it was second collaboration with Zee Tamil after Rajini serial.[2] Sidhu was cast as the male lead Kathirvelan.[2] This series will be the first series in which they will act together after their marriage.[8] And also this is the second series where the duo will be acting together after the Thirumanamseries.[1][9] Saakshi Siva and Kanya Bharathi was selected to play Rathinavel Pandiyan and Vedhanayagi.[2]

From on 14 November, actor Saakshi Siva was quit the series for personal reasons and was replaced by Sridhar.[10]

Release

The makers released the first official Launch Promo for Valliyin Velan on 7 August 2024, which gave a brief insight in Valli's background story.[11] The second promo was unveiled on 28 August 2024, featuring Valli and Kadhirvelan and also revealing the upcoming release date.[12] The serial was released on 2 September 2024,[1] replacing Ninaithen Vandhai in its 7:30 PM slot on Zee Tamil.[13]
