Val-de-Reuil (French pronunciation: [val ʁœj]) is a commune in the Eure department in Normandy in north-western France.[3] It is located south of Rouen in a loop of the Seine. Created as the new town of Le Vaudreuil in 1972, its name was changed to Val-de-Reuil in 1984 to avoid confusion with its neighbour, Le Vaudreuil.[4]

History

Le Vaudreuil (ensemble urbain) was one of the nine new towns created in France in the beginning of the 1970s.

Administration

Val-de-Reuil is the seat of a canton, which includes eight communes and has a total population of 20,422 (2021).[7][8]

Points of interest

  • Les jardins animaliers du parc zoologique is a zoo covering 10 hectares that was established in 2012. [9][10] The zoo has over 2000 animals, across 200 species.[11]

Val-de-Reuil is twinned with Workington in the United Kingdom.
