User talk:Vapor12
I work with the industry trade group that represents manufacturers of electronic cigarettes. Am interested in making sure the e-cig related articles are updated and based on reliable, sourced information.

- Why can't I edit Wikipedia?
Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.
- Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?
Probably not. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again.
- What can I do now?
If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you will probably not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.
If you do intend to make useful contributions about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:
- Add the text
{{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
on your user talk page. - Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
- Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.

below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Favonian (talk) 19:30, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Vapor12 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am writing to appeal the block, as it states I was promoting a product or advertising. This was not the case. I am transparent in my bio that I was working on behalf of a trade organization that represented the makers of electronic cigarettes. In the interest of avoiding accusations of conflict of interest, the edits I made were solely based on the market size of the industry and recent acquisitions, all important information previously not included in the article. The numbers and information added is sourced to the Wall Street Journal. Where I believe I made a mistake is in making the edits directly, instead of suggesting the edits on the talk page. If the account is reinstated, I will only propose changes to the article on the talk pages and not directly edit the page.
Decline reason:
Your account cannot be unblocked until you request a rename of your account. Username policy states that an account must represent a single person (WP:CORPNAME). Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 22:11, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Accept reason:
I recommend you retain a statement of your conflict of interest on your user page (as you have done at the top of your talk page). Also, check out Category:Requested edits. These are often from people like you, editors who suggest changes to articles but who represent an organization that has an association with the subject, and they feel the requested change is more significant than a small error correction or maintenance edit, so to avoid possible conflicts they request changes on article talk pages using the {{editrequest}} tag. ~Amatulić (talk) 00:30, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
