User talk:The Man13/Archive

Welcome!

Hello, The Man13/Archive, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Also, if you want the St John the Evengelist School (Silver Spring, Maryland) article deleted, you can just put the {{db-author}} template tag at the top of the page. That makes it eligible for speedy deletion, without having to go through the regular AFD process. See WP:CSD for all the information about speedy deletion. --Elkman - (talk) 15:58, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not Sure...

Not sure exactly what I should be doing... I've been surfing around fixing little mistakes, but I haven't done anything of great import... Should I maybe join a Wikiproject? Vint 16:22, 9 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alex Zaragoza AfD

Hi, I see you have placed the article Alex Zaragoza up for deletion. It actually is a copy of another article Alexander Zaragoza, you may want to place it up for AfD as well as part of a joint nomination with the current AfD for Alex Zaragoza.

To do this all you have to do is place {{subst:afd1|PageName }} rather than the normal {{subst:afd1}} at the top of the page, in this case {{subst:afd1|Alex Zaragoza }} at the top of Alexander Zaragoza. Then make a comment in the AfD discussion just below the original first comment, in this instance you could place something like ":I am also nominating [[Alexander Zaragoza]] as the content is identical --~~~~" just below your original nomination comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alex Zaragoza. I hope this helpfull.--blue520 16:12, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about the above, as Alexander Zaragoza now has been redirected to Alex Zaragoza, achieving basically the same result.--blue520 04:08, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images

Hi The Man13, I just noticed that you have the a lot of 'fair use images' on your userpage. I have to ask you to remove those images, since they are only usable under 'fair use' and that never applies to use on userpages. Could you please delete the pictures? Thanks! --JoanneB 20:38, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you Joanne, I had no idea that what was used on Wikipedia could not be used on my user page. Sorry, I'm a little new to this, I'm just getting used to all the rules. Thanks again Vint 20:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I happened to see through my watchlist that you'd already removed them. Thanks for the quick action! As for the comment you put in their place, and the userbox you have about copyright paranoia, just a comment that might explain things better... As Wikipedia is getting better known each day, it is getting more attention from big companies and other parties too. If they see their images 'misused', they may decide to sue Wikipedia, which will end up costing loads of money and giving Wikipedia a bad name. Don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing you of trying to get Wikipedia in trouble, people often just don't realise why fair use images are allowed in one place and not in the other. And PS, don't worry about not knowing all the rules at once, no one does! :)) Kind regards, --JoanneB 20:59, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
