Hallo! Dank u voor equalizing de kolommen. Ik waardeer het. Good job! Ik weet niet Nederlands. Maar ik ben met behulp van iGoogle. Ik hoop dat je dit leest! About the article Handyman in English. English-wikipedia. Tomwsulcer --Tomwsulcer (talk) 01:33, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I have commented on your recent move of this article on its talk page. I'd be interested in your response. --Macrakis (talk) 15:56, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
FYI
Hey just a friendly note about definition of a word. Some terms already include an inherent qualifier in their meaning (such as ATM includes the word "machine" thus saying ATM Machine is like saying "automated teller machine machine). It's a very tiny, tiny tiny issue and I'm sure you probably were editing too fast and made careless mistake so no biggie. I'm not grammar police just friendly guy giving random dictionary/encyclopedia advice whereever I won't get immediately banned asap!
So it's your call I won't revert your edit, but just giving friendly reminder that the term "life expectancy" according to my 1998 Simon Shuster illustrated dictionary states that life expectancy is "numerical representation of the average number of years that is likely to be lived by an individual or group pertaining to a specificied initial condition, such as birth, race, or sex" again my dictionary is usually 100% retarded and backwards as it defines marriage as between a man and a woman so that destroys all credibility for its usefulness and/or accuracy as a reference material! So feel free to take what it says with a grain of salt.
One last "FYI" is that when a doctor says that a cancer is "curable" that means it can be 100% cured whereas "treatable" means that it can give an individual either a 5% or more increase in the life expectancy or it can improve the patients quality of life (even if there is no change in life expectancy) so if your rich grandfather gets offered $500,000 chemo treatment and his insurance won't cover it letting you pay cash just remember that when a doctor says a cancer is "treatable" that is just weasel wording and/or window dressing when in fact it means that you'll live between 5% - 99% longer (but could very well mean 5% you gotta read into the studies where the data is hidden from commoners and/or people who are unfamiliar with cancer lingo). 72.196.99.114 (talk) 19:39, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. English is not my first language; to me it reads as "expected time to live", which was given with a finite range. When a group is targeted, it cannot be anything but an average, but if a single person is targeted this is not immediately clear to me. The range could as well be adjusted for additional factors only that person has. Sumurai8 (talk) 20:34, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
