I noticed that Bas van Leeuwen has reverted your addition of this section and that you have since reverted it back. I notice you're new to Wikipedia so I thought I'd drop by and give you some friendly advice. Like I said I personally have no issue with that section, but other editors here will. Make sure to take a look at Wikipedia's 3 revert rule. Basically what it says is that you really can't revert the same thing more than 3 times. Trust me when I tell you this, most admins will block you for 24 hours for violation of this rule without even blinking an eye. So make sure you keep an eye on how many times you revert this, as I'm willing to bet the minute Bas van Leeuwen see's you've reverted it back he'll just go and remove it again. The reason for the 3 revert rule is to prevent edit warring. If you find that you're unable to resolve your differences with the other editors on this subject I would also suggest setting up a request for comments on the issue. If you're unsure of how to set one up just let me know. I'd be more than happy to help you put it together and get it running. Cheers! Elhector (talk) 21:01, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. soldiers opinion on the war in Iraq

Dear RMouser,

I take it from the photograph that you have served time in Iraq, nothing but respect.

Regarding the article, I have already expressed my opinion regarding the relevance of your addition to an encyclopedia entry. Just as it is relevant to include the opinion of the international and Iraqi public, it is interesting to give information regarding the stance of U.S. soldiers. However I do not see your addition as encyclopedia material. The people you quote are not authorities, and the selection is not justifiably representative. And even if it was, it would be your personal research. There are a large number of places to publish your research, perhaps you can start a web log.

In summary, unless you have a reliable source claiming that certain opinions are representative of a substantial number of soldiers, I would think the addition to the opinion section unsuitable.

kind regards,

I have reverted your edit to Iraq War. You have added the section to the article numerous times, against the wishes of myself and several other editors. Please discuss the section here before adding it again. Thanks.--Rise Above The Vile 04:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To expand on the message above - continuing to add content which a consensus of editors agree is inappropriate or in violation of Wikipedia policy, without discussing it on the article talk page at all, is what we call a sterile edit war. If you were doing this more often you would have been blocked for a short time already for having done it so many times.
Please do not re-add this text to the article again prior to successfully concluding a discussion and getting consensus on Talk:Iraq War. If you can get the other editors who are involved to agree on phrasing and content then feel free to put that consensus wording in.
Thank you. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 04:21, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but your photograph is not notable enough, and you're not allowed to put captions like that in either. Look at the other photos in the article - they don't have credits in the caption, and your photos is not significantly more notable than any other photo by any of the other hundreds of thousands of soldiers who have served over there. Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 03:01, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
