Presidential Electoral histories

You don't have to ad the Electoral History-sections to the articles about the presidents. Al the presidents have references to elections within their articles. John 19:39, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

I must echo the above. Please stop adding "Electoral history" sections to presidential articles. It is redundant and unneccessary, especially in articles that are already too long (George W. Bush). - auburnpilot talk 04:01, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Are you still working on the Nicky Parsons article? I want to make sure you are not still expanding it. ColdFusion650 20:19, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Nicky Parsons, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. ColdFusion650 20:37, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Andy Brown (Everwood character)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Andy Brown (Everwood character), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Political families

I admire your work at List of United States political families. I also have some questions for discussion and suggestions that I would like your opinion on.

  • First, obviously, the article somehow needs to be shortened. I did suggest splitting the article on the talk page, but on second thought, I think that needs reconsideration. It might be preferable to split the article into state articles, like List of New York political families, since most of the families are from one state. This might be better than creating lots of family political line articles, which provide little context. Also, I think it would be better to incorporate the political lines into articles like Harrison family rather than create an article like Harrison family political line.
  • I think the current method of laying out the members of a family is confusing and should be changed. You have bulleted hierarchical lists, but they don't really represent relationships among the family, just the generation change. For example, see Roosevelt family#Members for a more intuitive use of indented lists. Since most of the families, which include both ancestors and descendants, are not merely descendant lists for which a bulleted hierarchical list would be useful, I think the list should not be hierarchical. It should just be a flat list of members and how they are related.
  • Also, I think it would greatly help the size issue if every single office a politician held was not listed; just list the highest office attained.

Just my two cents.--Michael WhiteT·C 17:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I have access to America's Political Dynasties by Stephen Hess, which can be limited previewed at Google Books, if you would like any lookups done. Also, I did spend a while separating the page into lists by state, and once I incorporate additions/modifications since I downloaded a version, I may upload it.--Michael WhiteT·C 14:28, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 17:50, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Dear Packersfansam:
I knew it was in the article, too All I meant was that in the infobox he should probably be listed as beingg in WWI and WWII (he served despite the fact he was well into his fifties at the time). He was that kind of guy. Not trying ot harass you, just trying to make sure that any entry is complete. Hope that clarifies any misunderstanding. Hi
Hmm, I'm unsure with the Gold certification you added to Jordin Sparks (album). I've removed it again since the RIAA database at [1] doesn't confirm it, and Blastro doesn't strike me as particular reliable. I hope that's OK.

Sources for athletes added by location

Can I please request that you add sources to support the individual athletes that you have been adding to articles for cities. I'm sure that you're getting the list of teams from a source and all material added should be backed by reliable and verifiable sources. Mount Holly Township

Please remove Dave Robinson from the list of Notable Residents because he was never a resident of Mount Holly. He, along with countless other Burlington County residents, were born in Mount Holly because that was the location of the area's hospital. I, too, was born at the same hospital in 1941 and I, too, was never a resident of Mount Holly. Dave and I grew up in Mount Laurel Township, attended the same school in Moorestown, and played on the same athletic teams. He and I are friends and I spoke with him extensively at a Moorestown High School football reunion less than two years ago. While it is difficult to prove a negative- Dave Robinson was not a resident of Mount Holly- it's impossible to prove that he was because the evidence does not exist. However, ample evidence that he was a resident of Mount Laurel does exist. Please do the right thing and remove his name from the list. Thank you. Robert M. Hunt (talk) 11:40, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.

I think the warning is too hard, but it definitely inappropriate to template the regulars with a cold, hard template designed for vandals. Especially since you DID include references. The problem is that you used blogs. There are plenty of other reliable sources that could easily be found in the cases that I checked. Packerfansam, your contributions are valued! I frequently see your edits come up on my watchlist. You're doing a great job overall! I usually skip reviewing your edits because they're always high quality. Just be a bit more careful to only use high quality references like newspapers, magazines, etc. In cases like these, you can use official city websites for city nicknames. Normally you shouldn't use official sources to add content. Royalbroil 12:45, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Jerry Daanen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Persian Warrior----Contact Me! 18:49, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

James Loy (United States Navy)

Hi, mate. I do a bit of work on the military history project and came across James Loy (United States Navy) in the unassessed category. While I make no judgements on the subject, please be advised that in the past the Wikipedia community has held that receiving a Silver Star does not by itself make a subject notable (by Wikipedia standards in WP:N). I don't necessarily agree with this policy as I believe that a Silver Star is reasonably notable decoration especially when compared against awards that other people receive who are considered notable (e.g. certain types of actors, etc.). Nevertheless, what I'm saying is just be careful when creating articles for similar subjects as, while I don't object, other people might and they might end up at WP:AFD. A way that you can help stop this from happening is by adding multiple sources and by finding other things that make the subjects notable, e.g. significant coverage in books, films, other awards, other work that is notable, etc. Hope this helps. Cheers. — AustralianRupert (talk) 09:20, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey there

Hey there. I just wanted to come and say that I hope you don't take all these Prods of your articles personally. It's just that if anyone hasn't won something like the Medal of Honor or Victoria Cross, and haven't done anything else notable (ie, gain a rank like General or command a large unit) then per WP:MILMOS#NOTE and a recent AfD, which was confirmed at a discussion on WT:MILHIST here, then they're non-notable, Cheers, Skinny87 (talk) 15:01, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

As you've removed the Prods on the articles, I'll start taking them to AfD in the next few days, once I have some RL issues out of the way. Once again, please be assured that it's nothing personal, and AfD is actually the best thing to do; once and for all sort out whether such individuals are notable or not. Cheers, Skinny87 (talk) 18:57, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Henry Blomberg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Deletion nomination

Just so you know, I nominated Henry Blomberg for deletion. You may visit the appropriate page and make a case for why you believe a DSC recipient is inherently notable. Now I don't know how this will go, but I think it may be found as non-notable due to the number of recipients. In the mean time I'd recommend you perhaps stop adding articles on DSC recipients just in case this determines they are not notable and they are subsequently deleted. I don't want you to waste time on all your hard work, which is excellent work by the way. Canterbury Tail talk 23:11, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Henry Blomberg

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Henry Blomberg. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Henry Blomberg. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey there

Hey. I was wondering if you might like some advice on which articles might be notable, so that your hard work isn't lost when they're unfortunately deleted for being non-notable per lack of non-trivial coverage in Reliable Sources? As a hard and fast rule, if the person has only won a second-tier award like the DSO or Navy Cross, and haven't done anything else in their military or civilian career, then they're probably non-notable and will be deleted, either through AfD or by being prodded. However, there are a number of articles you've created that won't be deleted, and that I would defend at AfD. To take two examples you recently created: Benjamin Hilliker would be automatically notable, as he won the Medal of Honor and there will undoubtedly be Reliable Sources giving him more than trivial coverage, like all Medal of Honor/Victoria Cross/ Hero of the Soviet Union winners. And Clarence Ekstrom would also probably be notable, as a flag officer of high rank and also being the commander of an escort carrier - both of which would probably again grant him non-trivial coverage in reliable sources. I hope this helps, and you're not downhearted by the AfD nominations so far, and the prod deletions of other articles that will come after the AfDs are closed. If you'd like to run any future articles past me first, before creating them, to see if they'd be notable, I'd be more than happy to help, as well as answer any questions about this. The article Jack Korakian has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 115.131.16.172 (talk) 14:53, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Fred Galoff

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Fred Galoff. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fred Galoff. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Academy lists

Hi. Thanks for all the help on the various Academy alumni lists. Others have helped too, but mainly it's been me working on User:Rlevse/files#Featured_lists for just over a year now. So I really appreciate the help. AF has one list, Navy several an, and West Point a many. AF and Navy are all FLs. WP I'm still working on, only some are FLs. The next one I want to get to FL is the WP Union Army one. FYI, lists are done in a bullet sort of format. Complete sentences are not required. RlevseTalk 20:40, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Right now putting the names at the bottom into the table on the Union Army list would be very helpful. RlevseTalk 10:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Consistency

In the interests of consistency with the part of the Union Army I've already done, the CSA article that's already FL and the others I've already done, can we leave out "brevet"? Otherwise we'd have to go back and change the stuff that's already done. Your help has been awesome!RlevseTalk 00:41, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Find a Grave

I know a lot of people use this site, but for FA/FL/etc purposes it is not a reliable source. Can you find better sources? RlevseTalk 00:54, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

This still needs done, can do after we get them all in the table though. Also, I think we should limit the list to generals during or because of the war; not only will this keep it in line with the Confederates, but it will keep the list to a manageable size. So I've move du Pont and Mackenzie to the talk page. RlevseTalk 11:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

List status

Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of United States Military Academy alumni (Union Army)/archive1 is at FLC. I think I'll work on List of United States Military Academy alumni (World War I) next, then WWII. I noted your huge contribution in the nom. Many thanks~ Now we double check for errors and consistency, do the auto checks on the FLC page, fix the find a grave refs, etc. RlevseTalk 20:47, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

I can always use help. RlevseTalk 11:51, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
The other two refs you added should be okay but when I saw "fortunecity" my antenna went up. So I clicked on that link and my security software said the site is unsafe and has 15 computer threats, so I'm changing that one. Just FYI. RlevseTalk 12:03, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Started the WWI one. Help appreciated. RlevseTalk 23:27, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Some of the notability sections you've added don't mention what they did in WWI. See what I added to March as example. I should have more time to work on this tonight. RlevseTalk 10:09, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
WWI list at FLC, will start WWII one next. Thanks for all the help!RlevseTalk 14:41, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 23:29, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Jerris Leonard

There is an article Jerris Leonard. However, you did a duplicate article Jerris G. Leonard. I redirected the article you did with limited results. Nothing serious but you might want to check the categories of the members of the Wisconsin Legislature to see if there is an existing article. I asked RoyalBroil for some help-you are doing an excellent job-Many thanks-RFD (talk) 20:46, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi

I notice that you have been creating a few articles on members of the armed forces, however it is not clear how they meet WP:MILPEOPLE or WP:GNG can you please make sure the ones that you ahve created meet that before you continue to create.

Thanks

Codf1977 (talk) 21:09, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

WP:MILPEOPLE says "The various grades of general officer are at the top of the rank structure." so not sure they do, however I still don't see them passing the "received significant coverage in multiple verifiable independent, reliable sources. test. Codf1977 (talk) 09:39, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm having the same trouble; Charles E. Tucker, Jr., for example, doesn't seem to assert any specific notable office. (The claim of "United States Department of Defense Counsel General" is ambiguous: he was actually not the General Counsel, but just a member of the General Counsel's staff.) That third criterion in the WP:MILPEOPLE essay, "held a rank considered to be a flag or general officer, or their historical equivalents", seems to be rather broad: that's anyone at 1 star rank/O-7/NATO OF-6 or above. 10 U.S.C. § 526 authorizes 302 Army + 216 Navy + 279 Air Force + 80 Marines + 12 joint duty + 10 activated reserve, for a possible 899 active at the same time, and that's just current, not retired; and just the United States, not the other 150+ countries. I'm not sure that criterion would survive elevating WP:MILPEOPLE from essay to guideline status. Perhaps there needs to be a discussion about that third criterion in general? I could understand if it said 4-star/O-10 was automatically notable— but 1-star? --Closeapple (talk) 00:38, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
