Hello Neegzistuoja. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Redland Museum".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Redland Museum}}, paste it in the edit box at , click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 00:58, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Schmidt

Thanks for your addition to the article on Brian Schmidt. Do you have a reference to back up the statement that he is the only Montana-born Nobel laureate?--Gronk Oz (talk) 14:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Gronk Oz - my references are the Wikipedia articles listed in List of Nobel laureates by country#United States, through which I found Schmidt to be the only laureate listed here to be born in Montana. Neegzistuoja (talk) 05:06, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, Wikipedia is not acceptable as a reliable source. So we need an independent source.--Gronk Oz (talk) 05:09, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/lists/countries.html - check through all the names here, Schmidt is the only one born in Montana. Neegzistuoja (talk) 05:13, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That site does not mention what state each person is from, only the country. I imagine this is most meaningful to locals, so perhaps there is a Montana newspaper which published this (although I have not found one yet).--Gronk Oz (talk) 10:03, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
True, however, looking through each individual laureate fact page linked in this site (e.g. http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/physics/laureates/2011/schmidt-facts.html), it can be found that Schmidt was born in Missoula, MT, USA, and is the only laureate listed under 'USA' to be born in this state. Neegzistuoja (talk) 09:07, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not contesting the truth of the statement, but Wikipedia has quite strict guidelines against such original research. WP needs a secondary source which has done that analysis and drawn the conclusion. I'm still not convinced that there isn't one somewhere in a local Montana newspaper; I will investigate further and encourage you to do the same.--Gronk Oz (talk) 13:33, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of agglomerations by population, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chiba. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Your contributed article, King Island (Coral Sea)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, King Island (Coral Sea). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – King Island (Queensland) ‎. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at King Island (Queensland) ‎ – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Sjö (talk) 10:59, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Draft:Rule the World (Walk off the Earth song), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://sss.wiki/magcon-tour/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. More background

I approved the move from Draft to Main space only after a great deal of research and thought. Its referencing is marginal at best with far too much from YouTube and similar sites. I approved it because of the nature of the notability of the individual, but this doesn't protect it from another editor having a different opinion and nominating it for deletion. My opinion does not override the opinion of others. With that in mind, it might be more prudent to work on finding better references rather than drawing attention to the article by posting facts to "Did you know nominations" where very many editors will see it and potentially review the article.  Velella  Velella Talk   11:47, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point. I too put in a fair bit of research, and couldn't really find anything more reliable or neutral. Internet personalities are tricky like that, since most of their online information comes from primary sources. I'm happy for it to get exposure now, so if another editor thinks it's not up to scratch, that probably indicates that the individual doesn't really need their own article anyway. Maybe in time, once more secondary sources are published about them. Neegzistuoja (talk) 12:07, 10 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in the process of removing famousbirthdays.com as a source from Wikipedia, because it's not reliable (See Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_153#Is_famousbirthdays.com_a_reliable_source_for_personal_information). I noticed that you've added it, and wanted to make sure you understood why it's being removed. If you disagree, let's discuss it. Thanks. --Ronz (talk) 16:35, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Australian musicians

Hi Neegzistuoja. I've noticed that across the last day you have created a number of articles on Australian musicians, presumably as a result of the Triple J Hottest 100. Given they are all Australian, I'd recommend that you add the WikiProject Australia template to the talk pages of any new similar articles you create to ensure they are classified correctly. You can do this by adding {{WikiProject Australia |class=Stub |importance=Low |music=y}} to the beginning of the talk page. I've gone ahead and done this for your existing articles. Thanks, Kb.au (talk) 03:04, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bridget Hustwaite requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 02:14, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Ben Harvey (American radio personality) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 05:03, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, whenever you move or re-title page (by any means), be sure to check the "What links here" tool on the left-hand tool bar, and seek to retarget incoming articles to the correct page. There are currently nine incoming links to "Ben Harvey" from articles, and presumably they refer to Ben Harvey (American radio personality). --Animalparty! (talk) 19:18, 26 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removed your POV input into Brisbane opening

If you are going to add "Unbalanced opinion" to something like, Brisbane has been called the 'Cultural capital of Australia', and then has two references that state this, whereas Melbourne's article makes the same claim with no references. Bit of a hypocrite to then label Brisbane's as 'unbalanced' then isn't it? Your other claims were largely irrelevant, such as Queenslander architecture makes up the majority of Brisbane's built heritage, yes this is an important disctinction as other Australian cities do no have Queenslanders since it is Queenslander architecture.--Caltraser55 (talk) 16:53, 29 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Caltraser55: Thanks for engaging with me on this - happy to discuss here, but it would be a good idea to raise your concerns on the Brisbane talk page before removing the maintenance tags.
Firstly, the line "Referred to as the "cultural capital" of Australia" in the Melbourne article intro does have a reference. I think Melbourne is more notable as a cultural capital than Brisbane - a Google search for melbourne "cultural capital" brings up 388,000 results, while brisbane "cultural capital" only gets 68,000 - so referring to both as a cultural capital doesn't seem accurate to me.
Also, notice I didn't place any tag on the line about Queenslander architecture, I agree that's a noteworthy feature of Brisbane. I was more concerned with the phrase "later in 1842 was opened to free settlement" which didn't make sense to me (perhaps you can explain what you're trying to say here, maybe I'm missing something), and un-referenced superlative claims such as "many of the nation's most important" and "the main international gateway".
For now, I've put these tags back in the article. Hopefully you understand my concerns and can either address them or discuss them specifically. Neegzistuoja (talk) 01:37, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, I've made some changes which I think will be pleasing for you, but left the "opened to free settlement in 1842" line, as Brisbane was a penal settlement until 1842 when it was closed and opened to free settlers which had previously been banned from living near British Imperial Prisons.--Caltraser55 (talk) 01:55, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Caltraser55: Thanks, I appreciate that you're willing to work on this. Let me get a bit specific if I may, there are two points that I'm still a bit unsure about. And thank you for clarifying what you mean on that 1842 line, I've added that you're referring to "the whole city" which I think makes more sense.
1. I agree that Brisbane has been called a cultural capital, but I don't agree that it this is a common or notable way to refer to it (see my Google searches earlier), which means it does not belong in the intro. Would you accept starting the third paragraph by saying "Brisbane houses prominent cultural institutions including;..."?
2. I would dispute that Brisbane is the main international gateway to these sites, and such a list seems more appropriate for the Queensland article than the Brisbane article. The international airport in Cairns is closer to some of these. If you can find a reliable source stating that Brisbane is the main international gateway, I'd accept that. Neegzistuoja (talk) 03:00, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I mean no one seems to be against Melbourne's claim to be "cultural capital or the sporting capital" which is an arbitrary term itself, there has been several foreign people and travel sites that have declared Brisbane to be Australia's cultural capital, and the Escape travel site lists reasons as to why it is, etc; Brisbane has a higher percentage of population that engages in cultural activities than Sydney or Melbourne, which does lend credence to the claim. I can however change the other part to your suggestion, however I think Brisbane's cultural attractions are of national importance, eg; Brisbane has the countries largest modern art gallery, largest theatre precinct, etc. The reason I think those state destinations (and they are all icons of Queensland, the state) is because Brisbane has around 30 international routes, whereas Cairns has 18 international routes, so Brisbane can largely be said to be a gateway to Queensland destinations for international travel, not just Great Barrier Reef, but Whitsunday Islands and Fraser Island which are closer to Brisbane than Cairns.--Caltraser55 (talk) 04:13, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Triple J Hottest 100

Neegz, thanks for a few fixes here and there for what I've missed, but most of the other times I've run into edit conflicts with you. I know I don't own the list, and no editor can "claim" or monopolise something, but I haven't forgotten and do get around to most of the other things. The edit conflicts are frustrating. I'm asking can you please avoid it if you're not going to bother doing the whole thing. Thanks. Ss112 07:18, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ss112: Sorry about that! You do a great job running these lists. I've just been trying to help, but if it's causing edit conflicts, I'll ease off updating the list in real-time. Happy to help if I can! Neegzistuoja (talk) 07:25, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. These IPs vandalising with dead Simpsons memes are definitely getting to be annoying. But I'm thinking even if I request page protection, they won't get to it until later. Ss112 07:27, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just wanna say, thanks for updating the list with the few while I was gone for a bit! Was nearly going to ask if you could do it but had to run. Ss112 09:15, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey, will you be around for today's countdown? Just wanting to know in case you can help out, maybe help "fill in" when I'll inevitably need to go for half an hour? Ss112 13:52, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey Neegz, glad to see you back around today! I just changed a few things on the 2020 list page. I was thinking, do you think it's a good idea to comment out (with <!-- -->) most of the list (in advance, or when it's underway) so that IP editors who try and meme about what's going to be number one won't have their edits seen (as most of them won't know how to unhide the list)? Notice

The article Birdz (rapper) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Might be a case of WP:TOOSOON, but currently doesn't pass WP:MUSICBIO. And doesn't appear to be enough in-depth coverage to pass WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your edits toAustralia

Hello there I reverted your edits regarding Terra Nullius because it represents only one view of a contested interpretation. The British did not regard Australia as Terra Nullius because the concept did not exist in 1788 (see the wikipedia article on terra Nullius and the High Court Mabo decision). Flood and others argue that the British didn't sign treaties with Indigenous Australians because there no "chiefs" or hierrachical tribal structures as there were in America and New Zealand. While I appreciate your rationale, the photograph you added is over 15 years old and the CBD (Civic) looks much different now - most of the surface carparks have been redeveloped (or under redevelopment) and there is considerably more density in the area, as well as public transport (light rail) infrastructure. In fact, the some of ramps depicted are in the process of being removed and the whole Interchange reconfigured over the next 2 years.

The view of Anzac Parade from Mount Ainslie is iconic and is generally associated with Canberra as the Opera House and bridge are with Sydney. As a planned city, it is also timeless as the vista remains largely unchanged due to the area being controlled by very restrictive planning controls to preserve the national significance and Burley Griffin's plan. Additionally, the Parliament House flagpole is the tallest structure in the inner city area (with the exception of Telstra tower on Black Mountain). This is deliberate due to the same planning controls I mentioned above to ensure Parliament and the Australian flag remain the most prominent feature of the skyline. Hi Dfadden, that makes a lot of sense and thanks for the detailed explanation. Just to expand on my rationale a little more, I thought that specifically for an article on largest cities, the current photo of the relatively sparsely-populated suburbs of Campbell and Parkes gives the impression that Canberra lacks a built-up urban area. 100% agree with you that it's a more iconic Canberra view than the actual city centre, just wary of the stereotype of Canberra as a country town when its population is in fact, as per the article, more than half a million.
Out of interest, would you say your main concern with my suggested photo was its age? Neegzistuoja (talk) 12:00, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
