Always exciting to see a quality contributor working on countries like Costa Rica. Keep up the great work! Hope to see WP:Good Articles on the Provinces of Costa Rica and major cities and people and that! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:04, 10 May 2014 (UTC) |
My cousin's family is Costa Rican. He's British and a tree geneticist but his wife is Honduran and his children were born in and grew up in Costa Rica and hold Costa Rican national identity. Priority I think is to get get some of the stubs on Provinces up to a resourceful state, same with much of Latin America and Africa I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:06, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- It's a beautiful country if you ever get the chance, User talk:Dr. Blofeld. The small towns and cities are just wonderful places. I agree that most of the province pages need a tremendous amount of work. Your encouragement really gave me a lot of energy, so I think I will start working on Alajuela this week! You're either a great motivator or very manipulative!! Hah, hah!! Mvblair (talk) 20:51, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
- Let me know if you need some assistance. I'll be glad to help as I'm sure User:Rosiestep would be. Provinces and regions I think are one of the areas needing most expansion on wikipedia. Most of the articles in Latin America, Asia and Africa on them are stubs or seriously deficient. I think they're very important because they constitute such large areas. One of our overall project goals I think should be to get every first level division in the world up to minimum start class on wikipedia. Anything you can do with Costa Rica towards it would be warmly welcome. I started an article a while back on Coffee production in Costa Rica but it soon attracted a tag for updating and a stub on Tronadora. I did a fair bit of work on Costa Rica a while back and thought how beautiful it looked back then!♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:32, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, for sure, I'd be glad to assist. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:44, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Wonderful! Thank you, Rosiestep and Dr. Blofeld! Perhaps a good start might be to translate some sections from the Spanish articles about the provinces. I will start doing that for Alajuela and then see where we go from there. By the way, Blofeld, I enjoyed the article about Coffee production. I have come across it many times before! Mvblair (talk) 15:51, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- Rosiestep and Dr. Blofeld, thanks to your encouragement, I just did what I think is a pretty substantial update to the Alajuela Province article. It felt really nice to have you two encourage it!! Mvblair (talk) 20:17, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for all the work you've done on Alajuela Province, Mvblair. The article looks awesome! Rosiestep (talk) 05:02, 17 May 2014 (UTC) |
Excellent yup. One thing though, can you format dates like 17 May 2014 rather than 5/12/14? accessdate: 5/15/2014 should be Retrieved 15 May 2014 I think; I think it looks tidier. Also you might consider using Template:Cite web for consistency. You can paste google book urls into http://reftag.appspot.com/ .♦ Dr. Blofeld 06:22, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hah, hah!! The Alajuela Barnstar! I love it!! I'm very proud to have it. Dr. B, I will change the "acessdates." Good call on that. The ones that are incorrectly formatted are ones that I used the "Firefox Wikipedia Ref Grab" extension for. It's an outdated extension that is nice for lazy folks like me. :) Mvblair (talk) 22:34, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

DYK for Alajuela Province
Hello! I have approved your DYK nomination for Alajuela Province - nice article! But I do have one suggestion. Since you are putting the photo of the sheet metal church in the DYK, I think it should appear in the text of the article near the information about the church - rather than way down in the gallery. Just a suggestion, and the article is good to go either way. --MelanieN (talk) 14:21, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks so much for saying the article was nice, MelanieN. I took a lot of time writing it, so I know it wasn't easy to go through for you, but it is much appreciated! Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:44, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Request reason:
I have a long history of making good contributions to Wikipedia and, to my knowledge, I have done nothing to warrant being blocked. Mvblair (talk) 16:33, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
Accept reason:
I am not seeing a block on this account. Please copy and paste the exact message that appears when you attempt to edit. I would also inquire as to if you have recently changed the physical location from where you edit. 331dot (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
- That's strange. It is working fine now. Thank you for whatever you did! Mvblair (talk) 20:48, 17 August 2018 (UTC)
ArbCom 2018 election voter message
Hello, Mvblair. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Organized labour project
Thank you for joining the Organized Labour project. I've been a participant in the project since 2006 and am helping with a revival of it. As part this we are introducing a new membership system, which will help with communications among participants. This involves creating a membership file for each participant within your user space (you can see an example of my membership card here: User:Goldsztajn/WikiProjectCards/WikiProject Organized Labour). This system is already in operation within a number of wikiprojects (such as Women in Red and Medicine). You will not have to do anything, myself or someone else from the project will create the relevant file within your userspace. However, I am conscious that it is not polite to change an editor's user space without notice. If I don't hear from you in the negative, I will go ahead with making the change after the 18th of January. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Many thanks for supporting the project, in solidarity, --Goldsztajn (talk) 11:13, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
