Draft edits to Ano (singer)

Hi Miraclepine, I see you archived certain edits I made to the Draft page 'Ano (singer)'. I was under the impression that since it was a draft, and would probably not be formally reviewed for a couple of months, I would not have to make my edits complete (and referenced) as if it were a live page. If this is not the case, do you have a suggestion of where I can put the page so I can continue to work on it without having to undergo the review process? Can I remove it from review while I make it as complete as possible at my own pace? Thank you very much for your time and attention. Dervidblinky (talk) 17:38, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Dervidblinky: A reviewer will look at the draft anytime between a few months and a few seconds and decide whether to accept or decline, so unsourced edits will negatively affect the draft's acceptability. Also, unsourced BLP claims like the one I just removed from the Ano draft are a serious issue and should be removed immediately even if the draft is not pending. Oh, and I strongly recommend against bypassing sourcing standards by duplicating a draft or removing it from review; there should be one draft at a time, and that draft will no doubt be held to the same standards as an article during review. ミラP@Miraclepine 17:51, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
maybe then I should be editing in a sandbox so I can make some edits now and add the sources later, which in some cases I would prefer to do just for ease of editing. I never plan to put in claims without sources, but sometimes it's just more awkward adding the source when I'm drafting. This is my first article, so I hope you can understand I have best intentions but am still learning about the process. Dervidblinky (talk) 18:01, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dervidblinky: For Ano: you should just edit into the draft since it's more convenient. For any other topic without an article: do start in the sandbox or a draft, but try being realistic in being able to add the sources for when that draft becomes an article. ミラP@Miraclepine 18:35, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'm learning a lot. I realize a lot of sources are unacceptable, such as imdb and other wikis, since they are user-contributed. This is going to be a challenge as I don't know Japanese. I'm going through the sources in the references to see if I can find a reference to Ano's supposed real name. Can you tell me, when I used the 'wizard' to create the article, was that generated by AI from sources around the web? Because I didn't write most of this. Thanks again so much, miraclepine! Dervidblinky (talk) 18:39, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dervidblinky: I normally use Google Translate to read Japanese refs because it's quicker, but I always proofread them as best as possible. For Ano's real name, I couldn't find an RS for that fact (see WP:RS for details), so I left it out because verifiability always matters instead of the truth. If you're talking about the article wizard, there doesn't appear to be any AI involved, just the hard organic work of a human editor (see the edit history). It seems the Wizard directed you to the existing draft when you tried to create one in the same name. ミラP@Miraclepine 18:48, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Miraclepine I see! I just don't know how these things work, didn't think to look at the history. I just said I wanted to do a page and named it and suddenly I was on this draft page. Surprised at all the detail, to say the least - and yet these days it isn't unreasonable to think an AI might have done it. Thanks for the information and guidance, I'm entering a new world here. I guess if I could ask just two more questions... I see the original author put it into draft and then hasn't touched it since; all subsequent edits were made by you or me. My questions are, 1) is it really ok to bull in here and make whatever edits I want? I know it's a collaborative medium but if that original author wanted to finish what they were doing later I'd hate to think that the page would be so different by the time they came back. And 2) how did you come to be the moderator or checker for this page -- are you an employee or volunteer assigned to this page? Or was it through some specific means? Just curious, learning as much as I can. Thanks again! Dervidblinky (talk) 19:36, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Dervidblinky: We are a collaborative project, and we're all volunteers with the freedom to take breaks and without any ownership over any articles or topics. Hence, the best we can do here is assure that our edits remained agreed on by (implicitly) everyone re the bold-revert-discuss cycle. I've been working at WIR for a while now, and as an anime fan I just stumbled upon this page. ミラP@Miraclepine 20:33, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The European Destubathon

You are invited to participate in The European Destubathon in April. Almost $3000 in Amazon voucher prizes which can be used to buy books for content, though it can also be treated as an editathon if you're not interested in competing! Minimum content to be added to each article just to ensure that they're over a stub, though longer expansions also welcome. Entries at the end of the contest will be tipped into the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge and European Challenge. Previous contests were really enjoyable and I'm hoping this one will be too! Sign up if interested. Thanks! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:22, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
