Oh thanks. I had a citation for the paragraph you removed, which stated all the facts I put on the page. What was wrong with my addition? Journalistipede (talk) 23:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I notice more of my edits are being reverted. I've cited articles for all the changes I've made so I'm not clear on what I did wrong. Thanks for any advice on this. Journalistipede (talk) 23:47, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Journalistipede: You had a primary source for the first sentence and the rest of the paragraph was unsourced. There were no secondary sources to indicate why this article was important (did other newspapers cover it, did it win awards, etc). You've also introduced what appears to be original research (the unsourced list of Alumni, no sources for Welsch and Kelety being rehired, etc). I would suggest reviewing some of the links above and also checking out this guide on formatting references. Sariel Xilo (talk) 23:52, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah ok. I was trying to update the page, considering some of the info is a decade old. Journalistipede (talk) 23:55, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
As for the Salish paragraph, all of the info was from the one article. I think the information was important simply from the fact that a newspaper featured an indigenous language fully on its cover. Journalistipede (talk) 23:58, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
To get started, I would check out Wikipedia:Notability. A newspaper publishes a lot of articles - why is this one cover issue more notable than other features they've published? If it had been covered by other media organizations or won awards, it would be reasonable to include. But right now, you only have a primary source (the article itself) which doesn't count towards notability. I would encourage you to find sources for the unsourced content you've introduced to the article (the aforementioned Alumni list, etc). These articles are considered good articles: KUCB-FM (Iowa), Washington Blade, Mumbai Mirror. You might want to look at them and other articles as a model on content & sourcing. If you have any further questions (especially around sourcing), please go to Wikipedia:Teahouse. It's a great resource where experienced editors help answer questions.
