Deleted article
Hey, I thought I'd explain why the article was deleted. The problem is that while the series is notable, that doesn't mean that every aspect of the series is notable or merits a separate article in Wikipedia. This is typically called "fancruft" and while it can be used in a negative term, it basically can be boiled down as such: on Wikipedia some users use the term fancruft to describe the coverage of specific elements of a series that has not received enough coverage to merit an article apart from the main series. Of course many misuse the term and consider it to be automatically non-notable, which isn't always the case. However in this instance the problem is that the dwarf clans haven't received enough coverage independent of the series to really merit an article at this point in time. It's only ever covered in relation to the books (meaning a brief mention in sources about the book series itself) and hasn't gained enough coverage to where it'd be the same as say, elves on Middle-earth. It's kind of the type of thing that is better served in remaining in a fan wikia where the requirements for notability and article branch offs are far less strict than on here. You may be able to argue for an article specifically for coverage of dwarven characters in the series, meaning that rather than have an article that redirects people back to the character list, that you have a page named List of Inheritance Cycle dwarven characters. However before doing this, I'd recommend that you create the list in your userspace (like at User:Jiten Dhandha/List of Inheritance Cycle dwarven characters) and then ask for a consensus at Talk:List of Inheritance Cycle characters. - Hey, thanks for letting me know of this. I am really sorry for putting up this article. Must have been a trouble for you to verify it and checking if it is worthy. I will definitely take care too see if it is worth to be put on Wikipedia before posting another article :) Please feel free to post on my talk page and warn me of such endeavors. Jiten Dhandha (talk) 10:47, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
- It's no problem at all. To be honest, I can see where you'd add it because there are similar-ish articles on Wikipedia and I did the same thing when I first signed up for Wikipedia. I went through the same learning process and had someone give me the same talk, so I figure that I knew where you were coming from with this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 15:05, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Copy-Editing "Brigade of Gurkhas"
(Project duration: 24th November 2016 to 27th November 2016).
Currently in the process of copy-editing the page "Brigade of Gurkhas". The copy-edited version of the page is in my sandbox. Some major changes to the organization of the article has been done along with fact checking and correction of a few grammatical errors here and there. This is my first copy-edit or rather I should say, first "major project" (if it can be called that) after returning to Wikipedia after a 2 year long break. If there are any suggestions or errors that I may have committed while doing the copy-edit, feel free to comment it here. I'm okay with the copy-edit being entirely rejected as well, since I re-learned a lot about editing Wikipedia after I took up this project.
- Regarding your Teahouse question, I was not aware of the "copy-editing brigade" and no one provided a link, but their talk page is definitely not Talk: Brigades of Gurkhas as that's just one article they'd be working on.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 16:35, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- I just changed the the heading here to "Brigade of Gurkhas" which was previously "Brigades of Gurkhas" (an honest mistake on my part). I was aware that there was no talk page called "Brigades of Gurkhas". What I wanted to know was if the person answering my Teahouse question was referring to something called the "copy-editing brigade" or if they were referring to the talk page of the page that I had just edited, that is, "Brigade of Gurkhas". Cheers for looking into the matter though. Jiten Dhandha (talk) 20:51, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
Eeek oops what?
Hi. Did your Mum not tell you to check edits? She should have! I have a bit of a feeling that this is not quite what you meant ... don't worry, I have zapped it for you. Have a nice day! Cheers DBaK (talk) 19:27, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! I saw that you reverted my edit, and I'd like to apologize for the mistake I committed. It's getting late at night here and I'm a bit sleep deprived right now. While copy-pasting the citation needed template, I seem to have made the error of pasting text from another edit I made a bit earlier. Thanks for being on the lookout! Attia Hosain
Dear Jiten,
Thank you for the message you sent me regarding what I wrote on the Attia Hosain page. At that time, I was still writing and rewriting the new content I was adding to that page, and therefore it came across as 'incoherent' and of bad quality. In fact, I had made a big revision over half-an-hour just at that time, but when I tried to save it, your message came up and my new work got lost. Therefore I was a little upset yesterday, but on re-reading your message today, I find that you mean well and have not been rude. I have also learnt over the past few days how to add references, and I was going to do that anyway. I will revise the page again today and tomorrow. I would request you to be a little patient during the time when the work is being done, so that new work is not lost again. The two books which Attia has written are among my favorites, but very little is known about her as a person and this is something which Wikipedia can help remedy. Take care and all wish you all the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.182.131.143 (talk) 09:21, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for your friendly message! Its not often that a person I've approached has replied back (mostly since I'm more active in reverting vandal edits and posting warnings on their pages). I re-read my message a few times and I can see how it could be misunderstood - I meant no harm at all, in fact I'm glad that there are new and upcoming editors to Wikipedia. I often scour the recent changes page and come across various kinds of edits - some blantant vandalism, some hidden, some good-faith edit but still written in non-encyclopedic style. In the cold, harsh tone and mindset of an anti-vandal, I reverted your edit (I knew that you meant well, and never doubted your intentions). The reason I reverted your edit was because someone who may visit the page during the process of its editing would find it hard to understand what was going on. Your work is still not lost by the way! Any edit made on Wikipedia is saved as an "archived revision" of the page. Your edit of "Attia Hosain" can be found here. If you want to work on the project for a long duration, the best course of action would be to create an account and using the "sandbox" which is a place where edits can be tested and large projects can be worked on (so that people dont have to see undone versions of the article). Cheers for reaching out to me! I'm glad we had this discussion. Happy editing and hope to see you around more often! Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 09:41, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Rollback granted
Hi Jiten Dhandha. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 04:40, 3 April 2017 (UTC)

Re: Regarding the warnings
No problem. I'm new at huggle too :). I used it several times and today I discovered keyboard shortcuts (space for next and Q for revert and warn). --Zabshk (query) 20:14, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Zabshk: You're doing a very good job at it too! You beat me to several reverts by a few seconds! Looks like I need a lot of practice before I can make edits that quick on Huggle. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:18, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- Huggle is a very powerful tool and I was very surprised when I saw how many edits I have done today. Fighting vandalism is my favourite job on Wikipedia (and other projects). --Zabshk (query) 20:25, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Zabshk: Too powerful for me I think. I gave it a shot again and ended up making another mistake. Well, it wasnt really a mistake due to inexperience with Huggle, but rather due to poor judgement of a good-faith edit. I think I'll be sticking to Twinkle for a while, since it offers less margin for error, and is actually built into the website version of Wikipedia. The one thing that I think Huggle is missing is that when you press Q to revert and warn, it posts the vandalism template in all cases. What I would've preferred is if it showed a pop-up that allowed the user to choose between the various commonly used templates (like section blanking and such). I'm sure there's a way to post those using Huggle, but I havent quite figured it out yet. I hope to be able to use it efficiently in the future though. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:18, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- Twinkle is good too. I made it global for myself (enabled on all projects) and I changed an addon to rollback all changes made by user (in all articles) to use twinkle, not built-in rollback (on many wikis I'm not rollbacker) and it's working perfectly (but still needs improvement) :).

Help with Editing Richard Hambleton birthdate.
Hi Jiten, I work for the gallery (Woodward Gallery in NYC) that represents the artists Richard Hambleton. They would like me to correct his birthdate on his Wiki Page. They sent me a document that proves his birthdate but I do not want to upload this document to the internet because it contains sensitive information. What should I do to correct the birthdate?
Thanks, Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 19:39, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Kwhipple90! I'm guessing this is regarding this revert edit I made. I'm a relatively new editor on Wikipedia, having made just over 700 edits, so I may not be familiar with everything Wikipedia-related, but I do have a fair-bit of knowledge on how to work about with things on this site. Your edit comes under the topic Biographies of living persons. Wikipedia has very strict policies about editing BLPs, so your concern would be best handled by people who are more familiar with the topic and have more experience with it. You can post your query on BLP Noticeboard and I'm sure people there will be more than happy to help you with it. Sorry I couldn't do better than to suggest another place to voice your concern - I would've loved to, but my knowledge falls short in this regard. Hope you get to make the corrected edit soon. Feel free to check back in if this helped you in any way. Happy editing! Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:04, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi Jiten. I have another question regarding the Richard Hambleton wiki page. We noticed that his website was changed back to richardhambleton.com. However that is not his official website. His official website is actually richardhambleton.art which has all of his biographical information, artist resume, exhibition history, a large selection of his works and news articles of past and present. The other website is promotional material to a documentary film going on at the Tribeca Film Festival and is not his official website. How do I get his official site changed back to richardhambleton.art? Thanks for your help! Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 14:30, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Kwhipple90! Information regarding the official website is not as sensitive (or controversial) as, lets say, birth-date or spouse/number of children. So you should be able to just change it without having much trouble. Change the information as per your requirements and make sure to mention the reason you stated here in the edit summary. If an editor reverts your edit or has an issue with your edit, you can explain in detail why you made the change on the talk page of Richard Hambleton: Talk:Richard Hambleton and notify the user concerned. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 18:22, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi Jiten. Thank you for your help last week and for changing the link to RichardHambleton.art. However someone keeps changing the website back to richardhambleton.com. Is there anyway I can stop this from happening? Thanks! Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kwhipple90 (talk • contribs) 18:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! I saw that you created a new section on the talk page of Richard Hambleton, so thats the first step done! Keep in mind, the concerns of the other editors are valid, so its best to have a healthy discussion. It may happen that neither of the sites get to stay on the page. Since Wikipedia is a collective effort, no one editor has authority over a page and its content than another. You may have more experience with the person/article in concern, but if the consensus is that the site is not appropriate, then the article is changed based on that. I've put forth my comment regarding this issue on the talk page, we'll just have to wait and see how everything turns up :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 20:31, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

- I am not authorized to make any changes on Wikipedia permanent - as a matter of fact, no one is. Not even admins or those at the top-most positions. The articles on Wikipedia are, and always have been, free to edit (save for some pages that only limited people have access to). This does not mean I cannot help you with this matter though. I am certainly no expert at articles that are biographies of living persons and Wikipedia has strict rules regarding information on these pages. Your article page falls under the same category. There's a few things I'd like to list here that might be of help:
- Your website is considered as a primary source of information as it is directly linked to you. Primary sources arent the best sources of information as they may have info written in a commercial or overly-flattering tone. Help with using primary sources can be found here.
- This may sound against the goal of an encyclopaedia, but editing articles that are about yourself is generally frowned upon as it can potentially violate neutral point of view and doing so is considered as a conflict of interest.
- These are just some technical aspects of editing that I felt you should be aware of before heading forward in this matter. However, as you have pointed out, if the information on the page is indeed false, then it is a serious problem. I'm unsure of what I can do to help in this matter, but I can certainly guide you where you can post your concerns. BLP Noticeboard sounds like the best place to post this - you can get some input from more experienced editors and even admins on how the issue can be resolved. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask me. Here to help :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 15:06, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

The following appeared in my Sandbox after I moved the article "Norris, Nebraska" to the mainspace. Can I remove this #REDIRECT and _NOEDITSECTION without harming the existing article "Norris, Nebraska?" Thanks Ddschulte (talk) 17:51, 4 June 2017 (UTC)Ddschulte
#REDIRECT Norris, Nebraska
- From a page move: This is a redirect from a page that has been moved (renamed). This page was kept as a redirect to avoid breaking links, both internal and external, that may have been made to the old page name.
__NOEDITSECTION__
- I've removed the redirect from your sandbox (removing it will in no way harm the existing page you've created). Hope you didnt mind me doing so! I've also added a user sandbox template on top of your sandbox. When you working on an article in your sandbox, keep that template at the top and once you're done with article, hit the button that says "Submit your draft for review!". Doing so will put up the article for review, and if the article is ready for Wikipedia, it will be moved to the article namespace by a more experienced editor who will take care of the mess that comes with moving pages. Hope this helped! If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me! (P.S. If you want to remove the template, feel free to do so. After all, it's your sandbox!) Dear Jiten Dhandha, I am new at wikipedia, I wanted to add a small article about how does people use matryoshka silhouette nowadays, that matryoshka isn't only soviet time toy, now a lot of artists, apparel designers and architectectures are using this silhouette. - Hey! Thanks for the message. Sorry about the templated message by the way - I come across many edits that are not constructive to Wikipedia and I often revert them leaving a message on the user's talk page that might not explain things in detail. The reason I left the message was because it appears that the link you added to the page was for a company, and links such as those are generally considered promotional.
- As for the article, I dont think there is enough coverage of Matryoshka doll's in the 21st century to justify having an article of its own, but feel free to add a section titled the same to the current Matryoshka doll article. Also, when you do add information, make sure its sourced! You might want to go through Referencing for beginners to get an idea of how sources are added to information on Wikipedia. updating my own obsolete, out of date biography....
Hello. I was trying to update a very, very out of date and skeletal entry on myself, which was only recently called to my attention as such. I was pasting in my own description of my career highlights, from my own website--www.pamelahaag.com
I'm not sure precisely what the problem is here, or with that? The current text is outdated, and my website really gives the best summation, so I'd like to be able to use that content, and it is, indeed, mine, since I am, indeed, the Pamela Haag in question
Can you help me with this? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14D:4000:36A1:B406:C0BC:A03:CB9E (talk) 00:22, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for leaving this message. There are 3 reasons for removing the content that you added:
- Your website is considered as a primary source of information as it is directly linked to you. Primary sources arent the best sources of information as they may have info written in a commercial or overly-flattering tone. Help with using primary sources can be found here.
- Editing an article that is about yourself is generally frowned upon as it can potentially violate neutral point of view and doing so is considered as a conflict of interest. If the edit is within the guidelines of Wikipedia, then there's no problem with editing articles about yourself.
- In addition to this, I'd also like to point out that when you take information from a site, you have to rephrase it in a way that fits the format of Wikipedia best and any attempt at copy-pasting information could be seen as a copyright violation. If you are the owner of the site, there is a procedure to apply as the copyright owner but I'm not too familiar with it so I'm afraid I can't help you much with that. But there are people who can.
- You can post your concerns at BLP Noticeboard and I'm sure more experienced users will get back to you and help you out with this. If you have anymore questions, feel free to leave a message here and I'll more be than happy to help you. :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 18:01, 18 June 2017 (UTC)
Problemmmmm
Dear Jiten Dhandha,
Thanks for your message and I am sorry to be considered as a spammer. I apologize and I hate spammers very much. Please remove this website: www.simienpark.org from wiki pages. It is unverified and not the official website of the park. It is a commercial website and misleading into www.simientours.com they both belong to this guy, Godfried from Belgium. He is a stupid spammer and misleading every travelers....We are very tired of this guy. The official website of the park is www.simienmountains.org I tried to link this on wikipedia many times, but kept removed. I am tired...We created another one www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org if it is wrong to link wiki then I do not do again, but it is just honest information and has no extra links misleading travelers.
Sorry, my English is not good to explain everything. Kind regards, Maru — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marusmnp (talk • contribs) 11:53, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- I've removed the warning I posted on your talk page for now, but please remember that edit-warring over the addition of an external link is still an offense and chances are, you may be banned if you continue doing so.
Right now, both the links have been deleted by user Vsmith and it's best that it stays like that till the issue is resolved.Your concerns are valid and I've looked into this matter - I ran a quick whois for all the sites you mentioned and it looks like things are in your favour (however, this is just my opinion and I may be wrong here). www.simienpark.org and www.simientours.com are both by the same person and the former has a link to the latter which is an obvious attempt at advertising. www.simienmountains.org is dead right now and was created in 2013 (www.simienpark.org was created 2 months after which could mean that it was created to facilitate the advertising). www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org was created recently as you mentioned and does not have any promotional content on it. Keeping these points in mind, I'm re-adding the last link to Simien Mountains National Park. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 13:44, 29 May 2017 (UTC)- I've added the link to Semien Mountains as well along with the same edit summary. Forgot to do so earlier. Dear Jiten Dhandha, Thank you very much for your quick reply, help and understanding. We will contact the Belgium Embassy in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa and hope they can make him stop doing so. Here is the text, he used, copied and pasted to create his website: www.simienpark.org and misleading into his other two websites (www.simientours.com and abyssiniatours.com). Sorry if I made mistakes myself, I will never try to edit wiki anymore. I love wikipedia very much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marusmnp (talk • contribs) 22:58, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
- You are free to edit Wikipedia as long as you're contributing to it positively. Also, one point that I forgot to add earlier, try to stay away from editing Semien Mountains and Simien Mountains National Park since you are closely involved with the authority that has control there - for more information about this matter, see Conflict of interest. If you have any further questions, feel free to post them here. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 08:27, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
As can be checked with Copy Scape, https://www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org/ is not original, it consists almost entirely of copied information. In addition, when doing a Whois check, https://www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org has been created only recently. Why has https://www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org been created, for which purpose? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.191.216.76 (talk) 09:34, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
In addition, https://www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org/ is owned by a tour operator from Germany: Registrant Name: Zigiju Yohannes Girmay Registrant Organization: Tour Company Registrant Street: INDUSTRIESTR. 41 Registrant City: Leipzig Registrant State/Province: Registrant Postal Code: 04229 Registrant Country: DE Registrant Phone: +49.015770489070 Registrant Phone Ext: — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.191.216.76 (talk) 09:40, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- Please read my entire message above again. I think I've mentioned most of my reasoning there. Now that you've opened up the discussion, we can settle this properly. Can you give me a valid reason for why www.simienpark.org and www.simientours.com are owned by the same person and why the former links to the latter? To me, that screams of advertisement. Now, the website www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org may be created by a tour operator, but nowhere do I see them promoting the tour or even mentioning it in the least (which is slightly odd). My understanding was that the page www.simienmountainsnationalpark.org was created recently after being shifted from the previous site: www.simienmountains.org (which is now dead). The website www.simienmountains.org, if we consider it to be the original, was created 2 months before www.simienpark.org. Anything you have to say about that? Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 09:55, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't see any explicit link between simienpark.org and simientours.com, but the whois owner is the same indeed. simienmountains.org may well be the "original" but that would have to be checked by the Ethiopian embassy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.191.216.76 (talk) 10:54, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- The reason you dont see the explicit link is because it has been removed. I've done some digging and here's the results:
- https://web.archive.org/web/20161031141239/http://simienpark.org/charity/ - This is a screenshot of the website on 31st Oct 2016. Here, you can clearly see the Simien Tours being promoted. Unfortunately, there's no very recent screenshots of that page otherwise it could've been proven that the link had been up there until today.
- http://whois.domaintools.com/simienpark.org - To add to this, the website had been updated today (as can be seen in the link provided).
- There's definitely something fishy going on. Would you be fine with removing that link from the page for now and not having any external links till this issue is resolved? Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 11:13, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks you for this good analysis, I recommend that any external links be removed to make sure no business interests are involved. As a proof that Marusmnp is a spammer, you can see in the editing history of this article that he was posting a link to www.simiennationalpark.org which was commercial: https://web.archive.org/web/20170519110629/https://www.simiennationalpark.org/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.191.216.76 (talk) 12:04, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
- Good catch! I've removed both links for now. I'll keep an eye on both the articles - if any promotional links are added, I might have to put up the article for page protection. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 12:19, 30 May 2017 (UTC)

Dear Jiten Dhandha, I think one of the user on this page on our topic is the owner of simienpark.org he sent me a private email today through his email address godfriedmeesters@gmail.com stating/saying: Sorry man but you are not going to end up anywhere with your Wikipedia promotion. You can report me with the Ethiopian embassy for simienpark.org;... I wanted to put a screeshot of his message here, but I do not know how to do it. and if if you check the https://www.whois.com/whois/simienpark.org, he changed his contact details very recently into NA (Not Avialiable), but I wrote it down on my notebook before he changed it all and it was bought by;
Registrant Name: Godfried Meesters Organization: Meesters Phone:+32.496982350 email: godfriedmeesters@gmail.com Country: BE (Belgium) Street: Doelenstraat 44 City: Geel Postal Code:2440
After all, any National Park in Ethiopia is a National Treassure for Ethiopia. I am sorry, but it is something bigger problem. It is like you are claiming for the ownership of the national park. You are misleading NOT only travelers/Tourists or Wikipedia, but also government and private organizations. They think, they are linking the official website of the park, but they end up linking yours confusedly. Look some examples where you are linked by mistake: http://simienmountainsmobilemedicalservice.org and here on a German site: http://www.spiegel.de/reise/fernweh/wandern-in-aethiopien-durch-den-simien-mountains-national-park-a-987171.html
Here, everyone can check/see the official website for the park: http://www.ewca.gov.et/en/node/1 and it will be fixed soon: https://web.archive.org/web/20161012230650/http://www.simienmountains.org/
- I'm moving this case to WP:ELN for people who are more experienced in external links to take over the case: here. I'm not sure how I can help anymore here. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 08:26, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
- I've added the link http://www.simienmountains.org/ to both the pages: Semien Mountains and Simien Mountains National Park based on a little bit of research I did. The link does not seem to promote any company as such, apart from mentioning several of them which I feel isn't very uncommon for a organization to do when they want to help out tourists. The EWCA copyright on the website, although seemingly outdated, is slightly re-assuring as to the authority of the site. I hope this mess of a dispute is finally over. I'll still be happy to make further changes and/or look into this matter, if need be - I'm only human, and fully capable of erring so if my judgement has failed me again, forgive me. - I've fixed the links for now. But the one thing that I dont understand is that you blame the IP for spamming his commercial website on those pages, but you are clearly guilty of the same. The website you added to those pages: [1] directly links to [2]. I appreciate you bringing this topic to my attention, but what you're doing isn't right either. Anyway, I'm hoping that this issue gets resolved and doesn't have to go to the extent of a page protection. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 10:04, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Dear Jiten Dhandha, I brought this topic to your attention or wrote you here, because I saw his commercial websites were linked again. Thanks for fixing the links again, but I am sure he will find a way to link his commercial websites again. edited page
Hi there, I just saw your note about a page I edited - I'm brand new to wikipedia (so new that I don't know what the tildes are for or if I'm even doing this note to you correctly). I deleted the link you'd associated with my name because it pulled up private/personal information. Can you please re-delete it? Actually, better yet, if you could just delete the entire page... I didn't create it and it's very uncomfortable to discover that my personal information has been posted online without my knowledge or consent. Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it.64.239.143.26 (talk) 01:07, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for reaching out to me. And dont worry about the note part, you did it perfectly - with the tildes and all. Coming to the topic about the deletion, I cannot delete a page unilaterally since that's a violation of Wikipedia's consensus policies (neither could I even if I wanted to since I'm not a Wikipedia administrator). Normally, there are two stages of deletion of an article: Proposed deletion (it's like saying, "Hey! I think this article should be deleted.") and Article for deletion (this means that the article has started its deletion course and a page is created where people can chime in their opinion supporting or opposing the deletion). I'm willing to assist you with the deletion process but before any of that is done, there needs to be some "checking" in order to make sure you are who you say you are. Along with this, it would be better if a few more editors have their eyes on this issue since it may be possible to change the content of the article and prevent its deletion (deletion is the last resort in any such cases). The perfect place for this discussion would be at the Biography of living persons noticeboard. You can start a new section there if you want and I'll keep a watch there and put my comments where necessary. Or if you want me to start a section there, that's fine by me as well and then you can chime in and present your reasoning. Let me know whats most convenient for you. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask me here and I'll try my best to help you. :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 09:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

I didnt even realize that my userpage was also being targeted during the mass attack until you pointed out the edit filter log of your user page on your talk page! Darn vandals and their antics... - You're welcome! Yup, the edit filter is golden in that respect. Makes users intentions so much clearer and becomes easy to report users to AIV who haven't yet reached level 4 in terms of edits, but have more than well enough exceeded that in "disallowed" edit filter logs. —72 talk 15:05, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Did you know that this user was live-streaming his Wikipedia vandalism on Twitch, some of which you reverted? He actually tried to edit your user page, but an automated filter detected it so he couldn't. He mistook you for an administrator as well. What is your opinion on this? I have never in my life seen anything like this. You actually get to see a vandal from the other side of the screen. Very interesting to me. - @PseudoSkull: Definitely interesting to see things from the other side of the fence. I think a lot of vandals think that their edits, being elaborate or on low-traffic articles, would be hard to find or revert (which is generally not the case). When approached by them, I just WP:DENY and move onto the next edit. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 18:45, 14 August 2017 (UTC)

Oh the irony that this vandal actually reverted another one. Thanks for catching that. Home Lander (talk) 15:51, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Home Lander: Yea, that has happened quite a few times now (well, its only probable that it would happen looking at the number of reverts done by the derp-vandal). I fell prey to the same mistake (twice!). I like Zzuuzz's approach - he mass-reverts all edits first and then goes through the edits in the time between the IP-hop to make sure a good revert wasnt reverted. Thanks for your work on vandalism and good luck! :) Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 15:59, 31 August 2017 (UTC)

A message from Neiltonks
Thanks for you help on the Rakesh Verma article. Like you, I'm trying to assume good faith and treat user Deprtcsa as a newbie who doesn't know what they're doing rather than a vandal. However for a new user they sure know a lot about how Wikipedia works (they've asked for protection for both Raksah Verma and the other page you mentioned, for instance) so I'm not sure about them. We can only hope they take up the offers of help we've both made, before an admin decides to block them! Neiltonks (talk) 13:33, 7 September 2017 (UTC)
- @Neiltonks: Yea, I hope it doesnt have to go to the extent of a block. I was surprised by the page protection requests actually. I'm more than willing to guide them on how to start a draft, add citations and show them around Wikipedia but they'd have to be willing to talk and show an interest in learning rather than rashly making edits. I cannot see why anyone wouldn't be a great asset to this project, provided they are patient enough to learn the policies and guidelines and abide by them. Or you could choose to be detrimental to the project with the flawed idea that "I vandalized Wikipedia lol" is something to be proud of. Beautiful Trauma (song)
Hey, regarding this message, just FYI, this is a known IP vandal who regularly blank out lead sections of song articles with that generic edit summary. If you encounter similar situations in future, or come across some vandalism-like edits with the edit summary "reverted some good faith edits", consider placing a report at AIV and link it to Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Wikidestruction vandal. Hayman30 (talk) 10:28, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Hayman30! Thanks for the info! I did notice the block on the IP and the subsequent block summary and I was wondering which LTA it was. I know a fair few LTA's and their MO but I couldn't quite put my finger on it when it came to this one. Speaking of which, I just reported the same IP again for continuing to make vandal edits. Deletion of my Page
I just created a page in the user id Kridovia Appliances LLP..i would love to contribute in more in couple of days. This is not acpromotional page. Please give me some time to contribute on this page. Kridovia Appliances LLP (talk) 22:35, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Kridovia Appliances LLP: Hey! The reason the page was tagged for deletion was because the content of the page seemed promotional in nature. For example, lines such as "Kridovia Appliances is targeted to provide the most amazing experience of shopping Home Appliances online" and "All you need to do is visit our online Home Appliances shop" appear to be written with the intent of promoting the website. Such content is unrelated to Wikipedia and is generally not suitable for a userpage. Furthermore, your username violates Wikipedia policies since it is the name of a company. For more information about a suitable username, read Wikipedia's username policy. Feel free to create a new account with a different username that is in accordance with the policy if you want to contribute to the site. Hope this helped! Usurpation of User:Jiten
Hey, I saw your message on IRC. Special:CentralAuth/Jiten is unfortunately not eligible for usurpation, because it has made significant content edits in the past. If you want to change your name, you can always pick something that is unused or does not have content edits.
Let me know if you have any other questions! Regards, -- Ajraddatz (talk) 23:22, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hey Ajraddatz! Thanks for letting me know. I'll take a look into some possible new usernames tomorrow. If nothing works, I can always keep my current one. Also, I had a question regarding my signature. I just changed it to the one you see in this comment. In fact, this is the first edit with it. Would the signature be considered impersonation since there's another user (albeit on French Wikipedia) with the username "Jiten"? If so, I can change it immediately after this edit. Jiten talk contribs 23:31, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
- It doesn't seem like impersonation to me, given that the user doesn't have an account here, and that it's your first name (I assume). You could always get a second opinion though. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 23:44, 19 October 2017 (UTC)

Revdel script
Ping isn't working atm, so I thought I'd drop you a note that my revdel script now runs when viewing the page (i.e. you don't need to be on the edit screen). Primefac (talk) 17:25, 14 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know! Thats a good upgrade for the script. I had a suggestion for the script if you dont mind. Could you code in a part that would check if the first and the end revision id's in a particular range were the same or not? If they are the same, it would not put the "end" parameter for that range so that the template reads as "The revisions requested to be deleted are: 123456789" as opposed to "The revisions requested to be deleted are: 123456789 to 123456789 (inclusive)". Its just a minor tweak to make the template look more neat - nothing of urgency. Jiten Dhandha • talk • contributions • 18:03, 14 October 2017 (UTC)

- Hey Primefac! I think I may have found a bug (or rather, missing functionality) in the code. If you click "Request revdel" and decide not to report it, there's no way of backing out. On clicking "cancel" in the first prompt (the one for the link), it goes to the second prompt asking for the range. If you click "cancel" there as well, it shows "ERROR: number is not between 1 and 4. How many ranges?". If you do enter something like "1" and decide to click "cancel" on the next two prompts (the one with the oldest and latest revision ID), you get this. Is there a way to add code that stops the request entirely when "cancel" is clicked on either the first or second prompt? Jiten talk contribs 17:19, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

- @Mountain Woman: Hey! I'm not sure I understand the context behind your comment. Is it related to this edit I made? If so, I dont see the correlation there. I have a feeling you must be talking about the information under the section titled Personal life on the article. It reads "His third was from 1988 to 1992, to Claudia Haro, a model and actress with whom he has a daughter named Tiffany" and I presume you wish to express your concern about it being incorrect. From what I understand, the sentence means to say that Joe Pesci was married to his third wife from 1988 to 1992. It does not refer to the birth year of the daughter, which might've been earlier. I hope this helped clarify things. If you have any more concerns regarding the article, the best place would be to comment on the talk page of the article. Of course, you can comment here too if you like - I'm always open for discussion. Jiten talk contribs 15:45, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
