Idea Regarding Unassessed ArticlesHi, Heaven's Wrath :) I'm sure you're aware that we have a backlog of over 2000 articles that are tagged for the Musicians WikiProject. I've been working all month to assess them, but I've only managed to do about 600 in that time. Though this category will probably never be completely empty, I was hoping we could at least get the number of articles under control. I propose a day or possibly a week dedicated to fighting this backlog. I would really appreciate feedback on this idea. Happy Holidays, Thereen 03:35, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Esperanza CalendarI see you left a note at the top of Wikipedia:Esperanza/Calendar that it is being moved to Wikipedia:Calendar. What's the basis for that and how is it planned? Need a hand? What's the thinking? Steve block Talk 18:39, 1 January 2007 (UTC) Ah, I see, it's to do with the Wikipedia talk:Birthday Committee. Hi: Thanks for making my foray into Wiki-land pleasant! No, not saying that they're one necessarily influenced another, just that there should be some type of link, because of the way they play. If you look at Stanley Jordan's page, there's extensive references to other types of unconventional guitar players, and not an explicit mention of one influencing another. Just thought a cross-reference would be a good idea. Peace, Abe Dear Cleanup Taskforce member, I noticed that you've listed yourself as a member who's interested in copy-editing. I'm a member of the League of Copyeditors, a project dedicated to managing the sizable backlog of articles needing a copy-edit. We're always looking for new members, and you'd make a great addition to the project! We've started a participation drive for the remainder of February. If you're interested, you can help clear the backlog by adopting the following goals each week:

Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you BetacommandBot 18:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC) What has happened to the Elvis Presley article? To my dismay, I have now seen what has happened to the Elvis Presley article some days ago. User:Northmeister has removed several paragraphs from the article in order to cut it from a very biased point of view. See [1]. He himself states on his user page, "I've been a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley." Therefore, he removed most material that included some critical remarks concerning the singer's life. The article now reads as if it has been chiefly written by Elvis fans. There are still expressions in the article that clearly show the dominance of biased fan views:
Further changes suggest that fans now dominate the article:
Several well-sourced details have been totally removed from the older version of the article, for instance: - from the Early life section:
- from the Death and burial section (which has now been totally removed):
In the section concerning the influence of Elvis's manager Colonel Parker, which was correctly entitled Presley and his manager "Colonel" Tom Parker but is now wrongly entitled American icon, these well-sourced critical remarks have been removed:
The last passage now reads:
Significantly, this additional remark has been omitted:
The Drug abuse section is now part of the Controversy surrounding death section, despite the fact that there is no controversy about this abuse of drugs which took place during the singer's lifetime. References to Elvis's relationships and the Memphis Mafia have been excluded from the text, and the sections on The Elvis cult and its critics and the FBI files on Elvis have been totally removed. This is not acceptable. May I ask you, therefore, to have a closer look at what has happened with this biographical article. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:The Phantom Menace ost.jpgThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The Phantom Menace ost.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:51, 6 June 2007 (UTC) Orphaned non-free image (Image:The Phantom Menace (Ultimate Edition) ost.jpg)Thanks for uploading Image:The Phantom Menace (Ultimate Edition) ost.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
