Merge

I've suggested a merge of the article you started Beyond Belief (symposium) to The Science Network. Steve Dufour (talk) 17:35, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beret

I like the fact that you came over to express an excellent view on the beret article. It really is a fount of information, and I love it, but its organisation is BAAAAD!! True, too, that the military section ought to be somehow separated or branched off, or whatever the devil they call it here. However, I guarantee you that NO ONE will do it, no one cares.76.195.83.35 (talk) 09:37, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The move has been made. See Military beret. --Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 23:39, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your edit to this page, because the lithic fragment page is referring to just that, lithic fragments (in the Gazzi-Dickinson method sense), not rock fragments. Rock fragments CAN be igneous, but lithic fragments are ONLY volcanic. By definition, a plutonic rock fragment is NOT a volcanic lithic fragment, therefore using volcanic instead of igneous is more helpful and specific. Also, adding VRF, etc. does not apply, because that stands for Volcanic ROCK FRAGMENT, and does not apply to a page on lithic fragments. If you are unclear on this distinction, see rock fragment, lithic fragment (geology), and Gazzi-Dickinson method for more info, or feel free to ask me a question... I only did my M.S. on Lv's!

Possibly unfree File:IMG 2314.jpg

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:IMG 2314.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --Angus McLellan (Talk) 16:21, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You can look at {{non-free logo}} and then add that to the picture if you like. That would solve the problem. But there are other ways. Do you know when this badge was adopted? Angus McLellan (Talk) 23:33, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you uploading media, It's appreciated.

However, it seems that a recent upload of yours, has been uploaded over an existing image, It is appreciated that this was seemingly done accidentally.

If possible consider re-uploading the image under a different more unique name, and asking an experienced contributor or administrator to restore the image that was accidentally uploaded over. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:52, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I'm so sorry! I have reuploaded the file as File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg. Could you help me revert the file File:Folk.jpg? Thank you! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 19:22, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't forget to include a license tag! :) , Thanks though. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:17, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:RobertFolk in Italy7.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:07, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Contourite

Hi Hamsterlopithecus, I reverted your removal of the Contourite book ref as it was being used throughout the article. If you click on the link, that takes you into the book, but for some reason jumps to a page that it can't show. Just click on the other occurrences of the search term and you will see the various supporting statements. I should probably try to update the citation with different pages for each one - I'll try tomorrow but right now I'm off to bed. Mikenorton (talk) 00:32, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mikenorton, I am going to be editing the contourite article pretty heavily. With your permission, I will remove your source for the "Contourites" book and add my own. If you disagree with the definition, we can discuss the issue here or in the article's discussion page. I will truly appreciate your input on the end product of the article. Thanks! And goodnight! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 00:37, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I just wanted to be sure that you realised that the book was used elsewhere in the article. The article could certainly do with expansion. I'll hold off and make any comments after you're finished. What this (and many other articles) need is some images, I've looked at a lot of contourites on seismic reflection data in my day job, but I've not been able to find any public domain pictures. Mikenorton (talk) 07:53, 18 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have finished editing the article for now. I might add a bit more eventually. Let's talk in the article's discussion about revisions and additions. Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 17:05, 20 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:BP Oilspill June25.2010.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:BP Oilspill June25.2010.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Southwestern Energy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. France3470 (talk) 19:45, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

advice

I added that it is traded on the NYSE, which is a claim to possible importance; it wll not be speedy deleted. But it will probably be deleted in our regular way, unless you add some 3rd party references to meet WP:ORG. I'd advise you to do this immediately DGG ( talk ) 20:01, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Truco in Venezuela

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Truco in Venezuela. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Truco. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Truco - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Singularity42 (talk) 19:34, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Truco in Venezuela, speedy deletion

Re your message: The article was deleted because at the time it contained no substantial content beyond what it already available in Truco. You added so little content that it probably even qualified for deletion under A3 of the Categories for Speedy Deletion: No content. You are welcome to recreate the article, but you will need to add in more content than what you started with. If you are going to work on the article over a few days, you might want to start with a draft in your user space and then move the article once you are done so that it not deleted or tagged while you are working on it. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 20:08, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replied on your talk page Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 04:44, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: I did not say that the article needed to be complete. I said that it needed to have more content than it did. The article was not deleted "5 mins since its creation". The article was deleted 25 minutes after you created the article and 15 minutes after it was tagged for deletion. If you want me to restore the article and put it into your user space, I will do that. However, in my opinion, the article as it stood when it was deleted is not sufficient enough for it to remain in the main article space without additional work. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:28, 15 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Folk classification

Hi Hamsterlopithecus, there's a query at the Folk classification talk page about the diagram that you created. Any chance you could edit the QFR triangle by adding 50 to the base, to show that it's only the upper half of the plot? The Last Temptation of Krust

It's been nearly a month and the point you added remains unsourced, whilst nobody else has contributed to the talk page discussion. I invite you to open a wider discussion to obtain some clear consensus on this issue once and for all. JesseRafe (talk · contribs) has expressed the same view as you in regards to "The Two Mrs. Nahasapeemapetilons" and I've just told him basically the same thing as you, so you may want to talk to him before starting any discussion. This or maybe this could be plausible forms for you to raise your concerns. I really don't care what the result is, as long as there is a result. Regards. Gran2 20:35, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Over a month since I left the above message. Have you given any thought about starting a wider discussion to fully clarify this issue? Thanks. Gran2 17:59, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Freeman Dyson, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page American (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hamster, document your false claim or retract it

Hamsterlopithecus, you keep repeating a false claim, so I'm going to assume you don't know how the timestamps with the comments and the page history show your version to be false. Let's get specific. You keep repeating the following false claim in various places:

  • "You squeezed a new section between two existing ones so I moved it to the end. Check the history."

I have obviously checked the history some time ago and shown, with use of diffs, that YOU are the one who did that type of thing, not me.

Now prove, using diffs, that your claim is true, or retract it.

Please respond on my talk page. The same section exists there. -- {{u|BullRangifer}} {Talk} 02:33, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am not going to argue with you. You edit people's comments and change talk pages to make your point. And then you lie about it when you are called out. You are only interested in winning your arguments instead of improving wikipedia. You're not a helpful editor. Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 03:25, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's not how it works. You made a claim. You must prove it. I have already proven that you are wrong. When you are lost, running faster doesn't help you. Stop and read my evidence. Then examine the claim you have made against me. You MUST prove it. I will get you blocked if you refuse.
Keep in mind that BLP applies to all living persons, including editors. Blatant lies are a violation of BLP and a blockable offense. -- {{u|BullRangifer}} {Talk} 03:52, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
All you want to do is argue for the sake of arguing without regard for the Wikipedia project. As I clearly stated in your talk page (and other unrelated editors in the past seem to think the same), you like making threats and personally attacking other editors to win your battles. The relevant data is in the history, I just checked. I am not here to fight and you shouldn't either. I will no longer reply to you unless it's about improving a Wikipedia article. Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 04:01, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, I want to clear my name. You have repeatedly lied about me. That's wrong and you must fix this injustice. Your refusal is cowardly and shows you have no integrity. You are not an honest person.

Since you won't make things right, I will proceed to strike all your lies as violations of BLP. Needless to say, I will keep an eye on you, and if you goof up again, I will seek to have you banned. You have wasted a lot of time better used on constructive editing.

This cowardly thing you have done, and all the mess you made, will come back to haunt you. You will not be allowed to just forget it. The more you deny, the greater your lies become your identity. We will always be able to easily prove you are an unrepentant liar who unjustly smeared another editor. That will be your reputation here. -- {{u|BullRangifer}} {Talk} 04:15, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:BullRangifer, I just saw your entire talk page and it is pretty clear that you have a strong history of creating unnecessary drama on wikipedia and generally upsetting other decent editors. You've been banned from pages before and have been warned many times about your behavior. You are a problematic editor. I will not engage. If you keep trying to bring your bickering to this page, I will ban you from my talk page like other (probably wiser) editors have done. Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 15:29, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Don't try to change the subject and make this about me. This is about your false claims. I have provided only one above. Just prove it's true. I suspect you are deflecting because you can't do it. -- {{u|BullRangifer}} {Talk} 15:55, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Contourite depositional system gulf of cadiz IODP.png

Thanks for uploading File:Contourite depositional system gulf of cadiz IODP.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 17:45, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Stefan2, the files I uploaded are all from a report that contains the following statement from the author(s) on the second page:
  • Material in this publication may be copied without restraint for library, abstract service, educational, or personal research purposes; however, this source should be appropriately acknowledged. Core samples and the wider set of data from the science program covered in this report are under moratorium and accessible only to Science Party members until 17 June 2013. [1]

I made sure to mention this and link to the source on every file. Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks! Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 18:00, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Contourite complete depositional system gulf of cadiz IODP.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cosby. Censorship of an RS

Hello Hamsterlopithecus This editor has posted an RS about Cosby's civil rights documentary that is being removed from the article 'talk page' so other persons can not decide the significance to the wiki article. Also you will find a reply to a fellow editor who has essentially convicted Cosby with comments like 'a mountain of evidence' when no evidence has been tested by a court of law or history. They just seem to accept guilt and then run on comments about "Hitler'.The reply to this editor has been removed.

This is an appeal for a more objective editor to intervene and let other editors judge the merits (if any) of the posted RS. You may have to check the history as it have been removed again but the RS is from UPI reporter Robert Musel at the time of the broadcast, there are many others. The documentary has been shown continuously throughout Black History Month over many decades.Sincerely A66.235.36.153 (talk) 03:17, 19 August 2016 (UTC) Contributor[reply]

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

Hi Hamsterlopithecus! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|Hamsterlopithecus|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
