bmi pages
Please refrain from unilateral page renaming and/or redirects. You mentioned in the edit subjects "as per talk page" but there is no such an entry (unles you can point out otherwise). I would appreciate if you follow due process at WP:RM. Regards, Asteriontalk 18:50, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Unilateral? See here; three users agree on my edit, with one aircraft-obsessed user voting nay. (Don't worry about it—these things always get a bit jumbled when pages are moved, especially with disambigs.) Precedent would favor either a disambig at BMI or a redirect to Body mass index. Besides, it's Christmas Eve; be bold. Deltabeignet (talk) 20:01, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- I see that the discussion is anything but recent (i.e. posts are dated May through October 2007) and was not a formal page move request (hence not advertised as such). I do agree that BMI is ambiguous enough to deserve to be the designated location for the disambiguation page but I would rather gain consensus beforehand. There will also be a hell lot of links to amend once the final location has been agreed on. Once again, please go to WP:RM and follow the steps to announce the page move (i.e. BMI (disambiguation) --> BMI or else). No need to do it tonight, of course! --Asteriontalk 00:04, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:1 Steppin' Out.ogg)
Thanks for uploading Image:1 Steppin' Out.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:26, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Removal of "nonsense"
With regards to your removal of so-called nonsense from the Jon Rappoport article, it appears to me that you are confusing the perspective and role of a Wikipedia editor. Whether you believe that what Rappoport believes in and bases his activities on are nonsense or soundly rational is not a criterion for whether or not text should be included in the article. __meco (talk) 07:32, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Bell bottom blues.JPG
Thank you for uploading Image:Bell bottom blues.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Looking for Wikipedians for a User Study
Hello. I am a graduate student in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota. We are conducting research on ways to engage content experts on Wikipedia. Previously, Wikipedia started the Adopt-a-User program to allow new users to get to know seasoned Wikipedia editors. We are interested in learning more about how this type of relationship works. Based on your editing record on Wikipedia, we thought you might be interested in participating. If chosen to participate, you will be compensated for your time. We estimate that most participants will spend an hour (over two weeks on your own time and from your own computer) on the study. To learn more or to sign up contact KATPA at CS dot UMN dot EDU or User:KatherinePanciera/WPMentoring. Thanks. KatherinePanciera (talk) 02:12, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

- Let me get this clear. You deleted an article just because it was a stub? Hey listen, that's just destructive. How is anything going to ever be expanded if you delete it like that? I do not understand the deletionist mind. Please don't do that. Short entries are just fine if you leave them alone. There is plenty of diskspace, WP:NOTPAPER, etc. Pontiff Greg Bard (talk) 22:24, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Nuclearlespaul.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nuclearlespaul.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Deltabeignet! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

MSU Interview
Dear Deltabeignet,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talk • contribs) 23:10, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Can you help me please?
Wikipedia is not something I use on even an occasional basis. I did; however, use it for one thing - the List of SMS Gateways and it's been deleted. It had become essential for me to use for work and I guess I should have made a copy of it, but thinking that "Wikipedia" was like an "Encyclopedia" it never crossed my mind. I'm not here to argue deletion policies and tried to read through all the "talk" and "deletion review" stuff, but, I work... A LOT... (obviously, since it's 1:59 am on a Saturday and I am still at it) and I just don't have that kind of time. I just want to know what I need to do to get a copy of that page. Can you please point me in the right direction? If you could respond to my regular email, stephanie@vip-limo.com, that would be great. VIPLimoSedan (talk) 06:59, 3 November 2013 (UTC)Stephanie
1000 Blank White Cards
Howdy! Just a note to mention that I have reversed your edit of the 1000 Blank White Cards page, wherein you removed the History section. I am the game's creator. I'm not sure what looked 'hoaxy' to you about the history of the game, but I have added a citation to the location where it was created, an external link to the current version of the box of 1000 blank cards that inspired me, and, while I'm not sure how to cite myself as a primary source, I can assure you that everything in that section is as firsthand and verifiable as it could possibly be, short of nonexistent video footage. Nmphoenix (talk) 09:21, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
I just obtained the back issue of Games in which this game was featured, and which includes an exhaustive history of the game in all its "hoaxy" glory, as well as interviews with several individuals involved in its creation and promulgation, myself included. I hope this is sufficient to satisfy the unusually rigorous citation standards that have been applied in this case. I have taken the liberty of reversing your edit, again, added references, and edited elsewhere in the article for tone and content. Nmphoenix (talk) 09:35, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Deltabeignet. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:47, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Deltabeignet.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in more than one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised, that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions, and that you have not been inactive for a three-year period of time). If you remain inactive for a three-year period of time, including the present year you have been inactive, you will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFA. This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Deltabeignet. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Racism in mass media listed at Redirects for discussion
An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Racism in mass media. Since you had some involvement with the Racism in mass media redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Thryduulf (talk) 16:39, 7 January 2019 (UTC)
The file File:MahavishnuOrchestra Birds of Fire.ogg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Usage at jazz not sufficiently covered by critical commentary. may fail WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFCC#3a
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Nashville Opera moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Nashville Opera,is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 14:59, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
