Cookbookwiki
Hello, I am Robert, I have a cooking wiki already established that is in need of a few good contributors. I would be interested in giving Admin rights to a few good contributors. The wiki has mucho content but no real active community and just a handful of contributors. The project is located at Cookbookwiki.com and I can be contacted at wikimanager@yahoo.com, I recently removed google ads and such. I need help getting the community part of the wiki active. Feel free to stop by and add your comments to our home page discussion or get started. From my understanding, there is much content that can be added that is missing from wikipedia due to politics. So, if you would like a cooking wiki playground, please stop by or contact me. - Robert
Deletion of 'green wikipedians' category
Hi. I saw you're (like me) listed in this category which is up for deletion. Hoped you'd like to vote in favor of keeping it... Thanks! Larix 02:24, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Re: Image for User:Hexagon1/UN
You're right, I have changed it back. see comments on talk page for the template --Romeo Bravo 16:08, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- To let you know, I redrew the SVG flag image, so that the border has been not only eliminated, but I also changed the size of the UN logo so it can be correct according to http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/uno.html. Zach (Smack Back) 20:44, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
Chef Infobox
With few exceptions, most chefs/cooks are going to have many books and multiple TV appearances, all of which should be in a Bibliography section. I documented the template usage on it's talk page, so go ahead and start using it, if you want. I'f sure any problems will be shaken out as it's used more. -- Netoholic @ 16:30, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Your comment on CFD
Your comment on CFD to JRP was excellent. It disturbs me to see these kinds of CFD discussions which take up a lot of time and cause nothing but finger-pointing and accusations. --C S (Talk) 05:41, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
The color change in the Cooking user box does look a lot nicer. Thank you too! -Rembrandt 09:48, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Cooking userbox
Hi there! I notice that there has already been a change in colours for this userbox, which indeed made it look better. Maybe it could be inproved if we swapped the positions of the colours so that the main box colour can be surrounded by a thin line of colour like a lot of other userboxes. I dont mind doing this, i just thought i should pass it by you before i do. --Ali K 10:06, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Matt_gonzalez.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Matt_gonzalez.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 13:57, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Image problems again
The image you uploaded for the "cook userbox" (Image:Userbox pot.png), from freedigitalphotos.net, can't be used on Wikipedia. The terms of use prohibit the resale of images from their site, which is a restriction on commercial use. Images with restrictions on commercial use can't be used on Wikipedia. --Carnildo 05:06, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
More images
Hi Chris, I hope your trip to China went well!
I've listed your Kitchen knife images at Wikipedia:Fair use review, because I don't think we have a strong claim to use them. Basically, most or all of them could be replaced with free equivalents without too much trouble. I appreciate your work in assembling these images, but I'm afraid we can't legitimately use them. Santa Barbara Meetup
Hello Chris. Since you're listed in the Wikipedians from UCSB category, I thought you might be interested in the Santa Barbara Wikipedia Meetup on Saturday 8 April. Please see that page for details. I hope to meet you there! Angela. 10:19, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
Making derivative works and labelling the public domain is Not Good. I suggest you recreate this image from a free photo. ed g2s • talk 19:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I missed the other table cell, but I would hardly call it vandalism. On a separate note, Image:Userbox red y.png could be considered a derivative work or a trademark infringment. ed g2s • talk 01:29, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
You are correct, of course... it is not vandalism (which is why I did not write that anywhere but my edit summary). As far as the "Y!" logo, I was told it was ok, since it is nothing more than a red Y and exclaimation point. In fact, the logo in the userbox before this image was a text version of the same thing. In any event, I don't really care since I've stopped using userboxes (but there are over 150 other people using it). — Chris ( t c ) — 02:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, but it is designed to look like the Yahoo logo, and thus could infringe on their trademark. For example, if I tried to sell a product using that image, I would no doubt be hearing from Yahoo's lawyers. ed g2s • talk 14:40, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- You could be right. You could put it on fair use review or whatever that is. As I said, I'm not that concerned about it anymore. — Chris ( t c ) — 22:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Also, with respect to the knife images, I have been intending to do something about them for some time. I have had bad luck locating free versions, and horrible luck photographing my own knives. Not to mention that I have no free time this quarter. Hopefully, I will get to them soon. — Chris ( t c ) — 02:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah that's fine. In fact, I'll just delete the old version and you can upload over the top. ed g2s • talk 10:47, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that you readded the claim that Giada is serving as a spokesperson for Barilla. The spokesperson claim implies a contractual relation between the spokesperson and the promoted company. Unfortunately the HTML link you added to source this claim is a simple celebrity chef endorsement with nothing stating that Giada is a spokesperson. I would ask that you either provide a different source that shows an actual spokesperson relationship or else reword the claim to more accurately reflect the information provided in the source. --Allen3 talk 10:59, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
In response to your edit summary i hope this isn't WP:POINT vio, it wasn't a point vio and neither was my latest removal of another little joy of unsourced and speculative if not entirely POV info that another IP added, I support adding all the information we can to the article but as I noted on Talk:Alton Brown if we're going to add information especially stuff like is being added currently should be sourced. Are you aware than you may not use fair-use images outside of the article space? — pd_THOR | =/\= | 16:10, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, there's 55 images on that page, I've looked at all 55 description pages, and all of them either say public domain or GNU. So, if you wouldn't mind linking to the image(s) in question... — Chris ( t c ) — 07:54, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey Ctdunstan. There is a lively debate about use of promo photos on wikipedia. My name is Jeff and I Do not support the interpretation of WP:FU as implemented by user's like User:Chowbok. They believe that Wikipedia should be free of all promotional photos that are "replaceable with an equivalent" (i.e. an amateur photo from flickr). Their rationale is being debated in many places, and take it a step further believing that all promo photos should be deleted and let someone else deal with finding and uploading a free alternative.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use
- Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Fair_use specifically this thread
- Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Chowbok
- Wikipedia_talk:Requests_for_comment/Chowbok
- User:Chowbok/Robth's_RFU_Explanation
- Image_Talk:Jennifer Granholm.jpg
And many other places I've no doubt missed.
I and many others who support use of fair use promotional photos have not been successful in changing the actions of Chowbok and rampant deletion and changing of many hundred's of useful images from Wikipedia articles continues. One good example is the Jennifer Granholm article which had a great promo photo replaced by a terrible photo. I seek to raise the profile of this issue through challenging promotional photos on high profile article's like Mario's. I'm sorry, really I am, but fair use policy as implemented by Chowbok has left me with few viable options.
I invite you to join the battle for Promotional Photo usage on Wikipedia and the protection of Fair Use concepts. --Jeff 07:12, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Image:Giada_De_Laurentiis2_e.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Giada_De_Laurentiis2_e.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Fair use rationale for Image:Anthony_Bourdain_No_Reservations.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Anthony_Bourdain_No_Reservations.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 09:06, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
