Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Mường Tè District. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Going to unblock both editors. Will explain in more detail below in a minute. Floquenbeam (talk) 17:48, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I find the block to be quite harsh for an apparently well-meaning newbie, esp. when there was no proper effort in communicating with him (except by template bombing) and that the blocking admin has no reservations, I will ask for the unblock to be granted.

And, Cn5900, if you see that your edits are being reverted, please don't revert any further and create a new thread on the corresponding t/p detailing about why you think that your edits are correct. Subsequently, please allow the opposing editor a reasonable time-span to respond in the thread. See WP:Dispute Resolution. Also, remember that, edit-warring is frowned upon and we don't care about the quality of edits, whilst disbursing blocks under the purview of the same. See WP:3RR for the brightline in the regard and WP:BRD for our optimal editing model.

  • Hi Cn5900, I've unblocked you because this situation spiraled out of control a little, and I'm hoping it gets back on track. I'll unblock both of you, and maybe we can reboot. As WBG says above, please don't re-add info - even if you're sure you're right - if someone is removing it. Instead, discuss it on the article's talk page. I've protected the page for 3 days to encourage you (and those who disagree) to use the talk page. If you hav ny questions, you can post them here; I may not be around to answer, but there are probably a few people watching this page who can. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:49, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Note for people watching: This isn't a rogue unblock, the blocking admin said somewhere (I think on Ritchie's talk page) that someone could unblock if they thought it best. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:59, 22 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move

Please don't rename pages that are under a requested move discussion as you did at Tân Châu, An Giang Province. If the closer finds a consensus to move those pages, then the closer will rename the pages. Thank you for your contributions and for your support in this. P. I. Ellsworthed. put'r there 00:04, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you added a 'delete' tag to a dozen or more redirect pages after you started the move discussion here. No-one is going to delete those pages while the discussion is under way; the closer of the discussion will delete them if that turns out to be necessary. Meanwhile, it'd be helpful if you'd remove the tags – you can see which pages have them by looking at this category. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:01, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, do not re-add speedy tags to pages like Quảng Bình District. By now it should be obvious that you need to list them at RfD. Continuing to add speedy tags is asking for another block.----Fabrictramp | talk to me 17:22, 22 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do not move via redirecting

Launch a proper move request, please. I just spent ten minutes cleaning up after you. El_C 16:37, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not moving anything, I was just adding more entries to the disambiguation page. Cn5900 (talk) 16:43, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are: [1] [2] [3] [4]. And do you not know how to indent your comments? El_C 16:47, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was just fixing the redirects so that they point at the correct intended targets. Why would those need a move request? I thought move requests are for moving the page title. I think what you were mentioning was redirects for discussion. Cn5900 (talk) 16:54, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to make sense of what you're doing. It looks like it started with this move — but does the city really have "City" (uppercase) in the title in standard English translations? (Then you changed a whole bunch of redirect targets.) El_C 16:56, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's what I was doing. In Vietnamese, hòa bình itself is a noun and it means "peace". Many geographical locations used it as their names. Therefore using the name Hòa Bình for that city will cause serious misunderstanding. About the uppercase "city", yes that should be the standard English translation. If the word "city" is included in the city name, then it should also be capitalized. For example, Ho Chi Minh City, New York City, ..... Cn5900 (talk) 17:03, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Understood. I think I was able to fix everything. The problem was that you were moving a page that had already been moved, so some confusion ensued — including errors on my part, for which I apologize. Thank you for your patience. El_C 17:06, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hoa Binh (disambiguation)

Hello, Cn5900. You recently reverted my changes to Hoa Binh (disambiguation). That is all part of the process of making a better encyclopedia. I just wanted to point to MOS:DAB, the Manual of Style for Disambiguation pages, in case you are not aware of it. There are some rules specific to disambiguation pages, such as only including one blue link per bullet point, that my changes were meant to address. Happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 09:33, 9 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tân Thành (town) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Tân Thành (town), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. You must provide a valid source for these stubs. Simply using the same source over and over again, when it doesn't mention the location is not acceptable.

Onel5969 TT me 18:23, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Onel5969:, please explain why the source I provided ([1]) is not valid. That's the website from General Statistics Office of Vietnam, in which information about all administrative subdivisions can be found. The articles I created just simply includes informations such as the name of that administrative subdivision, which province and district it belongs to. These information can all be verify in the source I provided, so isn't that reliable enough to you? That source store information about locations all over Vietnam, in order to find it, you must click on the specific province, and then that district Cn5900 (talk) 18:27, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sources have to mention what the article is about. The source you provided, while a valid source, doesn't mention the communities you are using it on. While that source may be used to find info on those communities, that's not a valid way to reference. Simply do the search for the community, and then link to the correct page. Onel5969 TT me 18:39, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you say so, then you will need to review all similar articles on those communities that was created before mine. Many of those doesn't even have a source. Vietnam is still a poor country, so not every communities have their own website link, especially communities in rural area. The only website about the communities I can provide you with is the website about the district, in which will include information on those communities. Cn5900 (talk) 18:48, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I see what the issue is, you can't link directly to the individual entities (the url doesn't change as you get deeper into your search). Hmmm... I think the best thing to do is add a "notes" section, where you explain, as you did on my talk page, where to look. Take a look at what I did at Draft:Long Châu, An Giang, and if you think that will work (or come up with something different), then make the changes and I'll move them back into mainspace.Onel5969 TT me 18:50, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Onel5969: Let's agree on that Cn5900 (talk) 19:01, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Onel5969: I'm done with adding notes to the draft, please consider moving them back to mainspace. For the next articles I create, I'll just cite the source first, then I'll come back to add notes to every pages later. Cn5900 (talk) 19:27, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi guys, I just made an edit to Long Phú, An Giang to put the note with the reference. Do you think this looks a little better? Regards. Hughesdarren (talk) 00:02, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Much better, Hughesdarren - Cn5900, please use this new format. Onel5969 TT me 00:04, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And Cn5900, please don't create stubs without the proper references. Slow down and do each one correctly. Any improperly referenced articles will be moved to draftspace. If you have enough time to create 50 stubs, then you have enough time to create those stubs properly. Onel5969 TT me 00:08, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Onel5969 please be patient. I'm going back to add locations to all of them now Cn5900 (talk) 00:12, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Do it as you create them. There's no reason not to. You're wasting other editors' time. BTW, I think that what you're doing is important, since we need more folk from Vietnam to contribute. My nephew lives in An Hoi, so I know a little bit, but please do it the right way. Onel5969 TT me 00:16, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Onel5969:, what I'm doing is that I create for all community for the province first, and will add to each later. Creating and citing simultaneously is very time-consuming. Since I have to create, and check the website at the same time. It's just the internet here is loading pretty slow. Just give me until tomorrow. Everything should be there by then Cn5900 (talk) 00:14, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Onel5969 also I think you meant Hội An, the famous old town Cn5900 (talk) 05:25, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Draft:Tân Thành (town). I do not think that Draft:Tân Thành (town) fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "unused" is not a valid speedy deletion criterion, especially for a page created less than a day ago. I request that you consider not re-tagging Draft:Tân Thành (town) for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. Scope of a discussion

I reverted your deletion of nine redirects from the discussion at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 October 11#Phú Hiệp, Cà Mau because you removed them without explanation. Whatever discussion transpired to that point was in the context of the original nomination; you can't silently change the context in midstream once the discussion has begun, even if you're the nominator. If you want to add items for consideration, you should prefix them with a note that you've done so belatedly, and probably with an explanation as to why. If you want to remove some, possibly in response to the discussion to date, you should strike them out, again with a comment in the discussion as to why But striking out is probably a bad idea once anybody has agree with deletion or alteration, because then the final disposition of those pages should be left to the group. Vinh Trung, Bac Lieu

Hi! What's happening here? What appears to have happened is that you took our page on Vinh Trung, Bac Lieu (which was a redirect to Hồng Dân District), overwrote it with content about a different village, Vĩnh Trung, Hậu Giang, and then moved it to that title. Bắc Kạn Province

Hello! Given your recent involvement in various Vietnam-related discussions, I am wondering if you would weigh in on the following:

  1. There are still a few incoming links to the redirect "Ngân Sơn (town)", which was deleted per this discussion. Given the note in the discussion that Nà Phặc has never been called Ngân Sơn or been the district capital, how should these links be handled?
  2. You created the redirect Phong Điền (commune in Cà Mau Province) during a two-part move of the article Phong Điền, Cà Mau. Since the article was at the redirect title for only 2 weeks and is an unlikely search term, do you have any objections to deleting it? I would be comfortable deleting it as routine housekeeping.
